I live in Bangkok and outside the tourist areas i never have a problem. Inside the tourist areas and in Phuket (lived there before) overcharging is a big problem. I never had any violence issues but know many stories from Phuket where they attacked non tuk tuk drivers when they thought they where "stealing" business.

Compassion is with this tuk tuk driver. The fact that you had a bad experience doesn't make it good what the foreigners did.

If you drive into a vehicle, you pay the damage, end of.

I had the same problem a while ago, since a certain update the limit was reset to the original 50K. Changed it back to the higher value.
