Anti-Israel or anti-semitic - Mr Azhar Ali
retarius replied to TorquayFan's topic in The War in Israel
The allegation that Israel knew and was warned about the October attacks was all over the news. I found it difficult to credit because it seemed un-Jewish to allow the attacks after being warned, and assumed it was fake news. Mr Ali, apparently believed the story and is repeating it, which is how successful propaganda works. 99.9% of people who read the news never even give it a quick sanity check if it supports our own particular belief system.....so Mr Ali is no worse than those who support Israel's propaganda of the necessity to kill thousands of women and children. I wish Mr Ali well and hope he wins the by-election. -

Why don't you just buy a legal bike in the first place? I don't think engine modifications should be legal, and don't know if they are.

Nikki Haley doubles down: ‘Joe Biden is not going to be the nominee.’
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think I have never agreed with Nikki Haley about anything in my life. But on this I agree 100%. He will drop out and be replaced by Michelle Obama or Newsom, or a combined ticket, but with Michelle having been first lady, I doubt she would settle for being VP. God knows what the GOP will do if Trump doesn't make it. Haley? They appear to have no one else with a national level presence.. -
Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thank you for this. The record keeping for the 401K might be horrendous and I would only be able to deduct any Thai taxes paid to the extent that they were below the amount that would have been paid in the US. I intend to forget the idea of paying taxes in Thailand as there seems to be no advantage to me. Sadly, the 1/2/2024 date has passed for opening new accounts for existing non-IRA savings. I am going to the US soon (March) to open a new account and fill it with exactly the amount of money I plan to withdraw when I close my existing savings accounts. I plan to say, if questioned, that money if fungible and I have merely transferred the savings to an account where I can have them transferred remotely. Furthermore I was planning to gift the money, in aliquots less than 10 million to my partner here in Thailand. So I have two arguments to present. On reading the gifting rules, kindly provided by Mike Lister, any gifts from me, might not qualify as gifts and so I must take advice locally how to add this extra layer of security, as my partner and I are not married, despite having been together for 18 years. -
Agree 100%. The jibe was to a certain extent tongue in cheek, I haven't watched that much East Enders to know the proportion of times there is males snogging, but they had an episode where the son of the Indian family, had a gay son, that I happened to see. The mother sadly rejected the gay son and he moved out and got a flat with his partner. They were seen snogging. The show was right, imho, opinion, to highlight the rejection of the boy by his bigoted Indian mother (his father was much more tolerant), but the snogging was gratuitous in my opinion. Also I can see a contradiction in my own views...I am very excited and happy to watch lesbian activity, but activity between males instinctively makes me very uncomfortable (which is why I don't see it as appropriate for man 8pm viewing slot).

I get the sense that the tide is turning on Israel because of the vile things shown in videos. Apart from the US whose population is shielded from this sort of reporting by omission and by censorship requested from the White House. I do hope many of the IDF will die in Gaza or will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law by the ICJ. And I do hope that Netanyahu and his cronies and as many this government's officials will be prosecuted for their commands, or their support of these genocidal actions. But whatever happens Israel has lost the PR war and their next slaughter will be more difficult, even the sheltered US public are slowly turning against this monstrous Israel.

You might try Hermann Hesse, Thomas Mann, Gunter Grass, Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Ishiguro, Murakami as great foreign authors. I'm not familiar with Z library. I use Kindle but I have a library of 000s of print books too. I read a Jack Reacher novel but found it trite. You should read Banville, Rushdie, Trollope, Dickens, Thomas Hardy (probably the best author ever, imho)...and others too many to list.

IMHO the best bookstore for English language books in Thailand is Kunokuniya in Siam Paragon. They do books by mail as well.

All I'm saying is don't judge. You sound kinda sad yourself. I have been many times to bars in Pattaya when I have visited (I don't live there), yes there are some lonely old men, drinking very early in the day alone and I see them as I walk past, but when I have been there are happy people there as well, having a laugh....or maybe having a laugh is a bad thing? To tell the truth I have usually gone to bars with a crowd of people and am too busy being happy having a laugh to notice all the sad people.

Here you are Ezzra, or is the Guardian not good enough for you. Open your eyes man, this is indecent and not worthy of human conduct. Children are being killed indiscriminately. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/01/jabalia-camp-airstrike-gaza
