OK you got me dude. Not complaining. I dind't even think about half the stuff on that list.

  2. No offense to you or your friend, but he/you knew better. How can you say the system is corrupt after you got caught purposely breaking the law? Was he selling the beer at an illegal time to "fight the system"?

Seriously, after 25yrs in the business, he doesn't know when to just "play along"?

Honestly, to me it sounds like he got "too big for his britches" and figured he was not included in this country-wide ban.

Yes, on the moat. The owner of Somphet market even came down to enquire <deleted>; there were so many officials in the place.

    This is really sick.

You pay pay taxes & run a legal business & the lovely officials come around & tell you not to serve your return customers of many years.

What did you do wrong? Nothing. There are scores of places on the footpath selling booze.

There's no doubt IMHO that the system in Los is now seriously sick & corrupt.

Totally agree with your comment. It's the law! Why complain??? Can't sell booze? Sell them ice and mixers or bottled water. Make no sense to cry foul when the BIB is just following the law.

  3. WOW I can't believe that a simple notice about a restaurant closing for renovation could generate such a discussion on the 'ideal' of who should eat what. This is nuts.

IMO there is only so much food of any type one can eat before craving something else. When I was in the US, I crave Thai/chinese (can't find pure Thai food in WI), once a week; donut twice a week; pizza on the weekend. The rest of the time I would eat the local US food. Over here, it's the opposite, 5days out of 6 on Thai food, then I have the urge for fat dripping, gut busting burger :whistling:.

Sanai, can you define US food? Cos I have a very hard time with that definition. The only one I have is BURGER, HOT DOGS.

  4. PCX is so much better, OK I'm biase on this one. But the seat is more comfortable than the Nouvo, being almost a cruiser style seat. I don't feel like I'm over the top of the bike as much. And I love the leg room, plenty of room to stretch your legs.

It is a little heavy to move through traffic particularly at the lights, but that weight is off-set by the power of the little 125, great of the block. however it does lack in top end speed and acceleration. Mainly after around 70kph it tends to flat line, requiring more throttle input.

As for the gas mileage. Typically I ride around 70-80kph (am in CM and mainly on the super hiway), getting around 200km for approx 160baht in gas. So not too bad at all.

  5. Personally I love the look of the Night Rod, but then I think about how it feels to ride across the country. It has too much forward angle on the rider for my liking. But then again, I believe the OP stated that he likes the sport/cruiser type so I doubt that it will be much of a problem for him. :D

  6. Older riders will remember when bikes used to stand up when braking in a corner and consequently learned to do all the heavy braking before the corner, and if necessary drag the brake back brake a bit on the way through. I still use this technique on modern bikes and tyres. New tech is great and I love my ABS, but at the same time the lessons learned on old tech taught me to be a better and smoother rider

Don't have to be older riders to pick up that habit. I always brake before the turn never in it, make more sense. ABS is there if you need it, but it's not something I want to rely on all the time. All it does is prevent the brakes from locking up, I would rather not be in a situation to cause that in the first place.

  7. I'm looking for a double action, top loading airbrush. With compressor. Used to have a badger in BKK but that got lost in transport :annoyed:. So does anyone have an idea of where I can find it?

  8. Doubt that it will stop any one from drinking. If the BIB get serious then there will either be plenty of 'tea money', or they'll have to build a new jail for all the arrests.

Grab a canteen, put in some ice, beer to follow. There u have it. cold beer available all the time. Don't have to worry about getting water in the can or stuffing your pocket. and the BIB won't even know what you're drinking. :whistling:

  9. Yep got rid of that uly seat. Still not happy with the aftermarket PCX seat, trying to find a place to do a custom in CM.

The other drawing point on the pcx is the leg room. Having tried the Click, Elegance and Blade, I just couldn't get comfortable on them. To make a point, I couldn't squeezed my feet into the Elegance's 'footwell'.

I have to agree with most that going 80 on the pcx is really smooth and stable but above that I still feel a little wobble, or it could be just me imagination!!!

I only wish it has a bigger engine, 125 is a tad small :whistling: for the size of the machine.

  10. So far I'm looking for exhaust (or just the cover), and the air filter if they make performance better. I'm not in a rush so it's a constant WIP. Next project would be the tyres finally. Then exhaust. and then see where I can go from there. Looking to make it unique but not crazy OTT.

For the exhaust, do they have to be chromed??? or can I get them in matt black! Yeah I know it's against the idea of moding but I just love the flat black exhaust?

  11. I really think that CM has to really improve it's image to tourists, WITH help from the GOVERNMENT!:realangry:. It's been voted one of the 'must visit' places on earth ahead of bangkok of the south and yet the government isn't promoting it at all. I see more asian tours than european these days and those are generally on the low-medium budget range. They don't bring in the money to support the economy duringt he low times, less THB/head.

Some are quoting stats that hotels occupancy are up! Sure for the 3 stars, but if you want to look at the number for the up scale places then it is not as promising at all. Chiang Mai is being turn into a low cost destination, which is not what it should be.

How is the city suppose to grow and improve if all it get are these type of groups?

  12. Ok now that's done. I want to know if there are any performance differences if I change the air filter to WirusWin and the exhaust system as well? Or are they just cosmetic changes

If they make beter noise and performance, what do you guys suggest?

  13. I've been going to Salsa Kitchen since they opened and nothing but good things to say about the restaurant. People can argue all day and night about the semantics of what is 'Mexican Food' but the bottom line is that John and his wife Ede produce great food at a great value. I wouldn't call it traditional Mexican but that doesn't really matter. Every country seems to have their own take on regional foods.

Mexican restaurants in the USA have a much cleaner presentation of the basic dishes than what is served below the border (usually a rather greasy affair outside of expensive hotels). I won't even get started about American Chinese food which has almost nothing to do with that fine Democratic country's actual food. I believe there's no right or wrong when it comes to cooking food (unfortunately there seems to be more wrong than right!). The only important thing is does it suit your individual taste. Fast food restaurants obviously succeed because they have a formula that works for many (Taco Bell?!?) but I will only enter one if I have no other choice (like the interstate highway system in the USA with no time to investigate other local options). I always prefer unique family run restaurants and always avoid restaurant 'chains'.

Miguel's has a passable Burrito but the rice and the beans I find unbearable. As someone said on this thread, 'to each his own'. There's no right or wrong. A lot of people seem to like Miguel's so good luck to them.

I'm partial to the Salsa Kitchen's Burritos and the ribs (both varieties). Both their rice and their beans are much better than Miguel's in my opinion. I've never had anything I didn't enjoy there. Some have mentioned that the portions are big (which is true) but who wants a big portion of bad food which we've all probably had at some time or another? This is certainly not the case at Salsa Kitchen. And I can't imagine anyone complaining about the prices.

I think that CM needs more restaurants like this with a unique take on cooking based on the owner's individual whims.

Both varieties of ribs? Went there last night and guess what the Hickory smoked were gone and apparent not making anymore, according to my waiter. Like the quote stated 'each to his own' but the burrito I order was half filled, and covered with so much sour cream that it was all I could taste :bah:. Guess I'm one of those used to having a meaty almost over loaded burritos. However I am not saying that I won't go back there, I'm going to give it another chance incase of an 'off-day' and ordering something different.

  14. Hey guys

Need some pointers here. Want to change the standard rubber grip to a more chopper style, stainless steel with rubber inserts.

Does the bike require specific model/size or would any typical grip work.

Oh and does any one know how much the black body panel (not the 'carbon fiber') costs?

    Cheers
