  1. When I queried Jomtien immigration for an extension based on marriage I got a negative response & they strongly recommended I apply for extension based on retirement. As discussed on another thread you get the impression they don't like the extra workload. Also I was informed "if successful" could be up to 90 days to process.

My problem is that I am not old enough to apply for a extension based on retirement. If I get rejected (there is no reason why they should, because we are happily living together and have sufficient funds) I will get a Multiple Non-O from one of the Embassy's / Consulates in the neighborhood and will not bother with Immigration anymore.

  2. I have to go for my yearly extension next week. Kilos of paperwork. I dread it. sad.png

Phil I know you are going for extension based on marriage, the process is just the same as last year, but after you have done the extension, be prepared for a long wait, I did mine in June and the decision has still not arrived back from Bangkok. They said today that I've to come back again in maybe 1 or 2 weeks to see if it has arrived.

Ps: Here is the list of the documents I needed for the extension.

  3. This link was posted by a member in another forum topic: http://www.youtube.com/user/olympic

It has live coverage or you can watch videos of previous events. It also has search functions by country, sport and a calendar of events which also can be searched by country or sport. Used along with Television coverage, it is hard to ask for more.

That one is indeed perfect, but just be careful when you watching it via 3G, as my Data Package (5 Gb) is already almost cut in half in just 2+ days whistling.gif

  4. Just ask her teacher to teach her the following remark in Thai Language and how to reply to it.

    Big Fish eat Little Fish

Edit: // Added quote and link

At the Pattaya City Expats Club meeting on Sunday, Immigration Volunteer and former British Consul Barry Kenyan stated the problem with Education visas as he observed it first-hand in the local Immigration office on Jomtien Beach Road, Soi 5.

“A guy came in and wanted to renew his Education visa for a 7th straight year. He waited in the queue and when it was his turn he sat at the Immigration officer’s desk in charge of Education Visas. He had all of his documents from the school. His application was completed and he had the two photos now required for any visa. So the officer looked at him and said, ‘You have been learning Thai for six years already. Is that right?’ The answer was yes so the officer looked at a nearby fish tank and said in Thai, ‘The big fish eat the little fish.” The foreigner looked at him without a clue. The officer smiled and picked up a big red stamp and stamped “CANCELLED” on the remaining portion of the current visa and told the fellow he would not again receive an Education visa,” Barry reported.

  5. so the relevance to Tisco (Ford Leasing) is somewhere about 0% yeah ?

I tried to find that out so I send them an email asking :

    Dear Tisco,

if I pay my car loan off early, do I get a discount on the interest rate or on the payments ?

    Kind regards

    and their reply was:

TISCO Bank Public Company Limited would like to inform you that to check customer' information, we need to know your Customer no., Name-Surname, Car register no.

For more information, please contact TISCO Contact Center 02-633-6000 press 9

    Your Sincerely,

    TISCO Bank Public Company Limited

  6. I believe you can pay it off early but they will still charge the full term interest minus 50% discount.

I thought full term interest was calculated from day one, hence the static 2.45% over the term of the loan**. what is the 50% discount ?

    ** Vehicle price + 2.45%/48 = monthly repayments.

I think you will find even if you pay out early they charge interest for full term. I don't know what other poster is referring to 50% discount or maybe just hear say from a friend as per usual.

I asked my friend (who doesn't live in Thailand anymore) and he confirmed my story that he got a 50% discount on the interest rates of the remaining terms. But this was Kiatnakin bank and no this was not Hearsay !! But noted that he didn't save a lot (only a couple of Thousand bahts (and he paid his 5 year loan of in 2 years))

  7. No.

You can find more detailed info at:

    http://www.samuifors...s-and-fees.html

    Ballbreakers link says it all:

Transfer Fee 2% over the appraised value of the property

Business Tax 3.3% over the registered (sale) value or appraised value (whichever is higher)

Stamp Duty 0.5% over the registered value

    • Withholding tax;
      • if the seller is a company withholding tax is fixed at 1% over the registered sale value or appraised value (whichever is higher)
      • if the seller is a private person withholding tax is calculated at a progressive rate based on the appraised value of the property

Business Tax 3.3% over the registered (sale) value or appraised value (whichever is higher)

if the seller is an individual (not a company) Specific Business Tax does not have to be paid if:

    • The seller has possessed the property more than five years before the transfer (the transferred real property has been used as the principal place of residence, and the seller’s name appeared in the house register for not less than one year from the date of acquiring such property).

  8. The PEA is charging for the months May - August an extra charge (Ft Charge) of 0.3 THB per Unit to compensate for increasing fuel cost maybe that is the increased cost you notice.

    Residential usage.

Normally, Electricity rates are difference depend on Meter size. I would like to describe in details following the contents below:

    - January – May 2012 Ft rate = 0.0 Baht

    - Normally, Ft rate will be changing every 4 months so since May to August 2012 Ft rate is 0.30 Baht per unit.

Because of high manufacturing costs so we changed fuel cost from after June – August 2012.
