  1. I remember when TMN started, it had fabulous sports, news and film channels, now it's crap, same boring ads and interviews, poor sports (unless u like golf and tennis) yesterday nearly all movies black and white.Seems all they want to do is sell their de-coders, still makes me get off my butt and get out of the flat

True, my friend has it in his new house, but he wanted Sophon, but they insisted that his village doesn't even exists.

So he got TMN, but now Sophon is available and he wants to change, but now he can't anymore because TMN has 2 Chinese / Thai series Channel (Channel 4 & 5) and his wife loves these...

  2. You need to go to Immigration first to get a Certificate of Residence. Costs around THB 200.

You may also need a letter or a name card from the Hotel / Apartment where you are staying. (This is for Immigration)

Note: After the 1 yr license is finished, you will need to have a Non-O visa to get a 5 yr license, if you don't have the Non-O visa, they will only give you another 1 yr License.

    Or a Non B.

Or a Non ED, Non F, Non "IB", etc etc to be complete

  3. Cheap life time memberships are probably part of the problem.

Annual fees are a more sustainable business model so overtime fees can increase in line with general costs.

Of course these cheap life time memberships are a quick way to generate immediate cash flow but at the expense of longer term financial returns.

I don't think they lose by offering lifetime memberships in a place like Pattaya. Most of the lifetime members probably wouldn't have joined at full price and there's a huge drop out rate.

True, and in whole honesty, I admit I paid 15k for a life time membership and I only went twice goof.gif This was 'bout 3 years ago.

  4. Instead of criticising...how about some praise...Thais normally do not think in advance like that....so I believe he deserves some credit

But he should have thought in advance that he can't tell the police that the key was inserted as this will void his theft insurrance.

Don't you (when your car gets stolen) have to show the two original keys to be able to claim theft insurance ?

OK, it's clear that you never scammed an insurance company. You must be a newbie biggrin.png

I didn't have to as my cars are always in my wife's name ;)

    I didn't do it she did biggrin.png

  6. I did the Ban Laem one, Had Lek is too far out.

But I went on a Visa Run, never drove myself. The border we went to was in full swing, with all of the amenities (duty free) etc.

(I have to note that this was around 2 years ago (haven't done a border run since), so things could have changed in the mean time, other members may have more current info.

  7. TMN only has 1 English Language Movie Channel where Sophon has 2 or 3. But with TMN you can buy a Cable decoder (one of payment of 5500 THB) and you can get around 14-16 extra channels (you will get lots of Sports channels and also the History channel). They are showing the add for this all the time on Channels (73 and 91) which are the English Movie Channel and the English Series Channel.

  8. Thanks for the advice thus far. Australia is the ultimate Nanny state. The Uk does not compare sorry.

It was mentioned above that I might need a medical certificate as well. Is this correct? Can anyone else verify if this is another requirement that I must take when applying for a Thai licence?

OP, you'll need to take in the following documents:

    • Copy Main page passport.
    • Copy Visa page passport.
    • Copy Last entry stamp and TM card.
    • Proof of residence (certificate of residence Thai Immigration or your Embassy).
    • Medical certificate (available at almost any medical centres)
    • Your current Driving License

  9. You need to go to Immigration first to get a Certificate of Residence. Costs around THB 200.

  10. There is a Bus Station called Nakorn Chai Air on Sukhumvit Road. (Very near to the intersection with Pattaya Klang). They have busses that go to Chang Mai.

http://goo.gl/maps/ISc5 where Point A is where the Songtaew stop and Point B is where the bus station is)

No idea about the price though. Better call them Phone Number is: 0-3842-4871 or 038-247 841.

The price for a Songtaew will be around 200 THB (Because you hire them).

You have several options if you don't have too much luggage

    1) Take a Songtaew out of Soi Bukao upto Pattaya Klang (if he turns left towards the beach get off and take a Songtaew that drives towards Sukhumvit). This will costs you for the Songtaew's 20 THB

    2) Take a Motocycle Taxi they will charge you around 40 - 60 THB. Just try to haggle a bit.

    Good Luck

  11. Vitamin B & C, Garlic, Cod Liver Oil (If "no have" then I use Fish Oil)

Why, because I am using it already for a long time and it's a hard habit to break and it's good for me biggrin.png

Edit: // Forgot to add why

difference cod liver oil vs fish oil? huh.png

Here in Thailand Cod Liver Oil is sometimes hard to get, I have it usually brought over from Europe.

But when I don't have ("No have" what you hear in many Thai Stores) then I use the Fish Oil.
