  1. ^ I agree with Markland on Snookyville. Sihanoukville is nice to visit but I wouldn't live there especially during the rainy season.

Isn't the song, Too much rain will kill you whistling.gif

  2. Many good apartments available for 7000 THB a week, but the problem will be the oven as they mostly stock a simple Microwave.

Alternative could be, why not rent a Hotel Room and buy a cheap oven, and after you leave give it to the chamber maid.

  3. BTW Money in the bank for 2 months is the requirement.

Two months in the bank for first application. renewal requires 400k baht in Thai bank account for 90 days at time of application. Also don't overlook the PDF attached in this thread as mentioned photos of you and your partner required at your property in kitchen, bedroom etc etc. Pattaya immigration (Jomtien Soi 5) actively discouraged me from applying for Thai spouse visa; said it would be a very lenghty and painful process. Took the hint and applied for 'O' retirement visa & was processed in 10 minutes Seems to be a common experience at the moment

I did it and many before me, but yes it's lengthy (I think we where in there for about 1.5 hours in total) and it can be frustrating at some times, when they want another copy of this or that or want it stapled like this and not like that, but I wouldn't call it painful. wink.png

Of course for them it's also more work, and what I understood everything has to be sent to BKK for approval, but this can also be hearsay, maybe a MOD could comment on this ?

    Edit: //

  4. ^ The first time is always a bit of a "hassle" but the immigration official (in Pattaya that is) said to us this only needed for the 1st year. The next year's should be easier. But I will not take any risks. I already haven't touched my bank accounts and my extension is only up in July.

This is the documents I needed last year

    6) Map to the House / Condo

    12) Copy Bank Book Last Page (Last Updated Page)

Better be prepared or get send away.

  5. There really is no option - you are required to use the office assigned to your location (as listed above).

Thanks Lop, for the 90 day reporting must I go to this office or can I go else where if Im traveling around Thailand?

You must report to this office, but can report by mail.

If traveling, you might be able to report at the office you are then staying with proof of actualy staying in that area. Some offices allow this, others will send you away.

    Mario,

do you know which offices allow this ? This would be very handy info.

    Regards

  6. this thread is useless so many jokers making fun out of serious situation

    sad

    Radiola,

I'm sorry but you ask a question which deserves these kind of answers.

    Let's break down your question:

Question : I Am Planning To Move To Nong Prue Area, Is It Safe?

Lets consider I Am planning to Move to:

I am planning, can mean that you have already been there, but in the OP you ask:

Does it have any markets, fresh markets, tesco, big c in the area?

So the question arises. Have you been to the area where you want to move to, or did you just search on the Internet for a House. First thing when I look for a house, is make a list what I want, and when I find a house I again make a list where everything is, is it close, is it far, is there a market etc etc, just Pros and Cons.

I check everything out before I commit myself, maybe you should do the same.

Now lets consider : Nong Prue Area

As one member clearly described, Pattaya is Nong Prue, Nong Prue is Pattaya.

Now lets consider: Is it safe ?

Nowhere in Pattaya is 100% safe, even very expensive estates have their problem with Crime / Burglaries.

  7. I give it a shot, I tried in Pattaya 3BB, ToT and Cat. They all have their disadvantages and their advantages.

At the moment I have 2 providers (before it was ToT and Cat, but now 3BB and ToT) if one breaks down (like ToT yesterday) I just switch over.

I dropped Cat because it's a bit expensive and not much better then ToT or 3BB
