  1. More to the point, why are you paying 60K euros for a condo in PHUKET? You can get a decent brand new one for about 25K or 1 million baht in a number of places. You're paying more than double the going rate!

Ever heard that condo prices depend on size?

    +1,

or maybe the OP is buying 2 Small Decent ones, or he doesn't want to live in a Shoebox

  2. I've a 11 Month Fixed Account with SCB and when I went today to do my 90 Days report In Pattaya, and showed them my Bank Book, they said that a Fixed Account was OK with them.

This was for a Marriage extension but the same would apply for Retirement.

You don't need to show financial proof when doing a 90 day report. Perhaps they thought you were simply asking if the account would be OK to use for your next 12-month visa extension.

After reading this thread, I thought I haven't seen anyone asking this in Pattaya, so I just took my bankbook with me and asked if Jomtien / Chonburi Immigration accepts this, and they do.If anyone is curious, I asked Barry Kenyon and he showed my Bank Book to 2 Immigration Officers, and they said, that they accept this.

  3. You are correct MRO I didn't explain it well enough, had a call from the finance company yesterday and because my wife isn't working and we only wanted to put 30% down we were required to get a guarantor. We had to put 40% down for no guarantor they also want three months repayments up front we pay when the car arrives. Nissan also called and said we could have a white 4X4 straight away but have to wait until january for the black one

A finance company once told me, that they are looking for at least 4-6 Months of deposits into a Bank Account of at least Double the amount of Monthly Payments for the Car. if they would accept 25% down payment without a guarantor (Maybe they only do this, when you don't have a credit rating, or are unknown to the Finance Company)

Example if you wanna pay 15k a month for a car, they are looking for, that at least a amount of 30k is being deposit in your Bank on a Monthly basis.

  4. I went this afternoon, to have a look and to buy some stuff

My Impressions is that it is a very spacious store, roomy, good light, but the noise levels over there were atrocious, and that made it that I didn't want to stay long enough to look at all the Merchandise, so I ended up buying Nothing.

  5. Even better would be HDMI connectors on both the TV and computer, no?

Yes, I connect my Samsung 32' LED via HDMI to my PC, and because my Video Card also supports sound, I don't need separate speakers as it will use the TV Speakers

  6. .............

Made me wonder though- was how the scammer could get the money from Western Union? If I started a transaction in my cousin's name, wouldn't the scammer need ID of some kind??

Same question I'm asking in the thread above yours

Really curious about that one !

  7. This is a scam I have seen it before. Just write back saying Money on the way, pick up at the usual place.

I did what you suggested and this is the reply:

Am glad you replied back, I have nothing left on me right now and I am lucky to have my life and passports with me it would have been worst if they had made away with my passports. Well all I need now is just $1,750 you can have it wired to my name via Western Union I'll have to show my passport as ID to pick it up here and i promise to pay you back as soon as I get back home.

    Here's my info below.

    Name: (deleted)

Location: 179-199 Holland Park Avenue London, United Kingdom

As soon as it has been done, kindly get back to me with the confirmation number. Let me know if you are heading to the WU outlet now???

Just on my way to WU now!!

Incidentally thats the address of the Hilton in London!

Question: Does the name correspond with the name of your friend ? If it is, then I just wonder how they would get the money if people would send it through a specific money agent.

  8. Finally after 2 days there is some kind of a "error" message

I couldn't understand the English too well - except there's some form of problem. A picture says a 1000 words though, and looks to me like SCB sees their customers as banana eating monkeys from the countryside - so the service looks appropriate. I assume they're also paying peanuts on their accounts. As we know you pay peanuts and... :)

Overall SCB is a good bank, but if you already have a deposit account and a savings account and want to open another savings account, and they still want to see a WP (which I don't have and I never had) then .^#$*(!!!(&%$%$^%^&*$ (Insert fav. swear word here) .

But back on topic, fortunately the problems "seem" to be re-solved, except maybe for the Forex page, which still sometimes gives a "Capacity error" message.

  9. The g/f had a look at some off the plan condo on the river last week and was really excited. 2 bedroom 58sqm. I tried to tell her its to small . she had a look, to small :(

how the heck can people with a family live in that space? suppose thais could though.

My place is 75 sqm one bedroom and its a good size for me, I also own another condo thats 35 sqm 1 bedroom and with hindsight it would have been better to not have a seperate bedroom because the wall makes it look smaller.

personally I would classify large as 100sqm

Agree 100%, I also own a 1 Bedroom condo (75sqm) and I couldn't imagine how small the rooms would be if it was a 2 bedroom one, let alone if it was 58sqm in size :o

  10. I don't have any experience with that kind of ink, but I also use a generic refill ink.

What I do, is that I regularly (when I don't use the printer for longer periods of time) make some test prints (color and b&w) from the Print Menu in the printer itself or via my Computer.

It must be working as I am using this generic refill ink already for about 6 Months without any noticeable problems.

  11. Sounds like her email is hacked, had this happen to a friend of mine, who received the "same" email, he just called his friend on his mobile and everything was cleared up. But it took ages for his friend to regain access again over his email account.

  12. No problems from the CBD, just get off at Muangthong or Chaengwatta from the expressway. This particular area was never flooded (From Pak Kret to Klong Prapa). Of course I'll be going, probably tomorrow, as I'm only 10 mins from there:)

If taking the MRT or BTS, which station to exit to get as close as possible to the venue? Never been out there...is it difficult to get a taxi to go there on the meter from the CBD area?

There is a shuttle bus from BTS Mochit.

If you can't open the above page, use this one http://www.motorexpo.co.th/2011/ and click on How to get there, and then on PICK-UP & DROP-OFF SHUTTLE BUS
