  1. at the same branch as MJCM?

That's the branch where they asked me for a work permit also.

Maybe they've been retrained in the meantime?

Different branch, but that's always been the game, some branches don't want accounts from foreigners.

Why fixate on one branch, when there are so many to choose from?

Upcountry perhaps but Pattaya has a pretty sizeable foreign population but if the biggest branch in the city doesn't know the rules what chance the others?

I don't think it's a question of not knowing the rules.

Some Thai bank managers just don't seem to want foreigners as customers.

The staff can't read our script, can't be bothered to try and speak English, or are just plain racist.

Or maybe they don't like tattooed oiks in singlets, shorts and sandals accompanied by obvious prostitutes looking untidy in their bank.

    Who can really tell?

I can agree to a certain point with the points you are making, but when I tried to open the account at that Branch, I was wearing long trousers and a long sleeved shirt, and I was also carrying our "other Bank" Bank Books (to show them how much money we would be transferring into their bank (well over a couple of Million Baht).

He had a long look, but that even did not change his decision, He just said: "Sorry you can't open, you need work permit, orders from Bangkok".

He even said sorry, and then we left, we haven't been back since (and no intention to go back either).

I also agree with PP , "If the biggest branch in the city doesn't know the rules what chance the others."

The two BBL Employees that freq. browse TV and answer questions (Daveroc, and the other Foreign employee (forgot his name :jap: )) have their work cut out for them, to train Branch Staff and to assist Foreigners on how to deal with unwilling / ignorant Bank Employees.

But TV users are very fortunate that these 2 guys are here to help in dealing with BBL, as I haven't seen any other Bank offering their services on this Medium.

I personally have given up and just stay with my Shitty Bank :violin:

  2. One of the updates that is distributed daily is the signature update for MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) and then it's only flagged as optional and only available if you have that program installed.

Updates are classified as Important, Recommended, Optional, and Featured. Here's what they mean:
    • Important updates offer significant benefits, such as improved security, privacy, and reliability. They should be installed as they become available, and can be installed automatically with Windows Update.
    • Recommended updates address non-critical problems or help enhance your computing experience. While these updates do not address fundamental issues with your computer or Windows software, they can offer meaningful improvements. These can be installed automatically.
    • Optional updates can include updates, drivers, or new software from Microsoft to enhance your computing experience. You can only install these manually.

  3. I drive to S Pattaya quite often and it really depends on the day of the week and the time of day. Quiet times 1:15 busy periods have taken me 2:00+ hours.

1:15 !!!!, You must have been flying

  4. Bangkok Bank do it. It on their Web site. But I say Kasikorn Bank is my choice much better customerservices especially for expats.

Bangkok Bank located on Second Road, North Pattaya, also requires a Work Permit. I haven't tried the other ones, but I think this is the biggest one in the Pattaya Area, so they must know what's on their own website :whistling:

  6. Siam Commercial were very pleasant added my name to my wifes account a few months ago, and accept transfers direct from the UK, all gone to the correct account, no issues

SCB No issues ??????? I totally disagree, have 2 accounts with them (1 saving and 1 deposit (both contain well over x Million Baht) and when trying to open another Savings account in both our names (my wife and myself), the manager said: "Can I see your workpermit Sir, without one I can't open a new account"

    :redcard1:

Must be my charming smile and ravishing good looks :)

555, must be, but my wife's pretty and that didn't even matter :whistling:

  8. The OP should have purchased a return ticket to the UK,where any Tom,dick and Harry is entitled to treatment and then flew back, would have been much cheaper.jap.gif

I doubt it that the OP is from the UK, his nick sounds more like that he is from a German speaking Country. But as the OP has already left this thread (not posted for a long time), what's the point. The word t...l comes to mind.

  10. OP, you said:

Just tried to download spell check from thaivisa.

Question, where did you download this on Thai Visa ?

    Yep

Sorry been out for a few tonight. Yea I was posting and couldn't remember spelling on one word so thought I would download the spell check from thaivisa. still comes up when open int' explorer

No Probs, but I'll repeat my question: WHERE did you download this Spell Checker on Thai Visa, so I can install it myself and see what's going wrong.

  11. An outstanding debt is a civil matter, not a criminal one.

Does that apply to overstay fines also then.

If you don't pay overstay fines, your only option is to leave the country illegally (No Exit Stamp in your passport).

And that will hunt you if you decide to ever come back.

  12. I'd suggest scraping together some cash (say 10K or 20K) then sit down by yourself and plan our a payment schedule that you could realistically meet.

Then go to the hospital and talk with the billing department, pay the 10-20K that you brought with you, as a show of good faith, and tell them the plan schedule that you are able to meet.

Note that if the plan schedule that you can come up with is something like "paid off in a year or so" then you may as well not bother and skip the country instead. But if you plan to stretch the payments out over 3 or 4 months i think they'd be amenable.

And make sure you get out ahead of this; don't wait until you've already missed the first payment.

    +1, sound advice !!

Question: Don't you have any Health Insurance from your own Country that will cover this ?
