Wrong. Agree that a foreigner cannot own land. Yet a foreigner can buy land by paying for it, the ownership of the land is different, I bought the land, and it was placed in my wife’s name. I bought the house and when exchanging the legal papers it was placed in the child’s name. Agree that a foreigner cannot own land. To be honest I hate rubber trees, yet my wife has just been given 11 rai of newly planted rubber trees. I started to study up on how best to look after the trees and what fertiliser they will need to ensure the best growth. Then discovered the wife had no interest in the trees so gave up on that for now, wait and see what happens. Interesting about the prices of land, agree that is the long term investment as there is no more land being made. We are buying a reprocessed house from the bank, is cheap an in a good area with neighbours we know, will update it with paint and a new bathroom then it will be rented out, long term investment for the child, I will not personally get a return on this. Thank you, I would like to think most men would do this, especialy in Thailand where you would want to insure your child has a decent income in the future, so they are not living on 10 to 15 thousand baht a month.

Best to check with the local municipality (known as Amphur) where you got married to see if the divorce was registered, you can then request a copy of the divorce paper (I think it is red or green coloured) you will need this to prove that you are divorced when re marrying in Thailand. You are leaving things a bit late to do all this. I would not contact the ex, why make trouble? Maybe pay a lawyer to sort the papers? Ask Siam legal.

Out of interest what is the cost of land in your area, plus where are you? We are in the south, Chumphon and land is easily one million up and if next to the sea 5 million up. Even in Ranong the land is one million up.

800 baht an hour is in the south of Ranong, am sure price is differant in Isan where land price is also so cheap compared to the south. Agree about the tractor/digger

I do not think all Thais see this as a rallying point, a small portion are vocal and they are the ones the news focus on to gain more readers or followers. As for the other swiss man in Trang and the Australian in BKK, are they setting a good example of expats? What about the farang who work illegal here, do they set a good example? Apart from the first video, the Australian man, who should learn to control his temper/road rage (I do wonder if it was not a women but a man, would he act this way?). All others are illegal acts so should be arrested. Just because they are expats gives no excuse. Good price for 700 meters, if using a tractor the cost is 800 baht an hour in the south, so the cost soon adds up.
