  1. She's also very mealy-mouthed about the Supreme Court. She wants it replaced with The House of Lords, another unelected body but packed with Tory peers.
  2. Why would a man of 74 who was supposedly desperately ill only a few weeks ago go out and stand in 40c heat? You don't need to be a doctor to know that is extremely ill-advised.
  3. Not true. I didn't assume anything. You stated this, "Human existence, along with all other species, plants, earth, planets, solar system, universe, are all evidence of a creator." If you think because plants and planets exist that's proof of God then your grasp of what evidence is is patchy at best. And when you meet your God ask him to forgive you for your uncharitable and unChristian remark about my "learning abilities." For avoidance of doubt I have no problem with your beliefs or lack of them, just your logic. Unless you believe in the inerrancy of the bible, then I do have a problem.
  4. So, I give an explanation of what I understand atheism and faith to be and you respond with a childish insult. Romper room indeed. My point was based on your actual words, not a blithe assumption.
  5. You don't seem to understand what evidence is. Atheism is based on a lack of evidence of a creator god. Faith is also based on lack of evidence. Both admit there is no evidence of a creator god. Give God my regards when you see him Fred. 🙂
  6. No. In the whole of human existence there has been no evidence of a creator God, much less a Christian one. There are only natural occuring events that religions attribute to God without a shred of evidence. Faith and belief are the antithesis of evidence by their very definition.
  7. It's a theory. Science doesn't pretend to have a final and immutable truth like religion. It's a process using best available knowledge until better evidence is available. Religion by it's very nature dies with evidence. That's why there is no evidence of a creator God.
  8. I notice that Tawandaeng does have a BBF date.
  9. U.S. craft beer is a minefield.
  10. I take that line too. I'll occasionally have a Chang or Singh with the locals to be sociable. I don't find them offensive, just rather neutral.
  11. I've only seen Full Moon beers in Tops and they're in the 159bht range. Hopefully our 7/11 will start to stock them.
  12. There are some nice Belgian beer emporiums in Vientiane. They're not afraid to charge though.
  13. Not seen those in our 7/11 yet. Aren't they a bit expensive though?
  14. Beerlao IPA is nice. Worth paying a little extra if you can get it. Snowy IPA is good too if you like the New England style and is available in 7/11 at a reasonable price.
  15. ......is the incorrect answer. I do and some Thais I know do. You would be correct in asserting that many drink for the sake of intoxication but not all.
  16. It's not just Chiang Mai, the whole of SE Asia is ablaze, and the Indian sub-continent. Here's the burning for the last 7 days.
  17. Good question. I'm assuming they would have to.
  18. Richard, how do you reconcile your full support of your family if they are gay with the fact that you would object to them getting married because they are gay? It's not really full support because you object to them having marriage equality. Also, there were a number of LGBT+ people who didn't agree with marriage equality, although a lot of them have since come around. Disagreement with it doesn't make you homophobic, just anti-equality. Homophobic is not a word I care for, preferring anti-LGBT+, which some people here clearly are. I don't think you are.
  19. Can you name some of them? Let's have a look at them.
  20. You're right. He just created another Twitter account where he pretended he was a Trans man. He then created a fake account pretending he was a lesbian. He threatened to kill trans activists, was banned by Twitter again. I actually feel sorry for him.
  21. I had a look on the UK Gov. website which publishes figures on English Hate crime figures. Hate crime has existed in England & Wales since 2008. The latest stats they show are for recorded crime 2021-2022 and it's quite interesting. Of the 155,841 hate crimes recorded 97% were for public order offenses, violence, criminal damage and arson which are already crimes in law. It doesn't specify but let's assume the remaining 3% are for offenses of abuse. Now these are just recorded crimes, not criminal convictions. It doesn't specify how many people were convicted or just issued with warnings. It also doesn't detail offenses reported but not recorded. Make of these figures what you will but it does seem to be that the huge majority of hate crimes are existing crimes which are deemed to be aggravated by hate rather than a new type of crime. It seems that the Scottish system is more draconian and possibly unworkable. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/hate-crime-england-and-wales-2021-to-2022/hate-crime-england-and-wales-2021-to-2022#police-recorded-hate-crime
  22. Linehan clearly has issues and is probably not the best spokeperson for female rights. He was supposedly posing as a woman on Mumsnet trying to drum up anti-trans support. So much for his advocacy for safe spaces for women, eh? He was banned from Twitter for hateful comments. More here: Poor man seems obsessed to the point of harming himself emotionally. He blames others for all his troubles. Needs someone to tell him to pull away from it all.
