  1. Yes, I expect that is a lot of it! Forget they gave a nod when asked to buy a tray of LDs and have to now pay for them.
  2. Oh that idea went by and bye, now they welcome the less discerning who can get here cheaply. I like the idea of bars automatically adding a 100 baht T-shirt to the offenders account!
  3. Rubbish getting swilled back into the sea is hardly a solution! Arming the lifeguards with BB guns night be an idea. Why on earth must the world accommodate these morons who smoke?
  4. You want them to turn away customers? And the unshaven shirtless types are likely to be good customers as far as consumption goes!
  5. A journey of thousand miles starts with a single step.
  6. The main issue to me is all the cigarette butts mixed in with the beach sand. One will never stop that happening if smoking is permitted.
  7. Perhaps Bali is OK because it isn't Muslim.
  8. I guess easier to dispose of several smaller body parts than a whole body. Certainly easier to move with a motorcycle, even if requiring more trips. They didn't have a drove of pigs as per the movie Snatch!
  9. Yep, all overpriced rip-off <deleted>! Standing in ilines all day! Mind you, Orlando, unlike Pattaya has few other diversions outside of a golf course or two!
  10. Anybody who had a condo with a view over the sea in Jomtien would attest to how sewage was discharged into the open sea there, usually under the cover of dark... but sometimes they started early at sunset. The dark patch spread as one drank a sundowner beer. For years there was a river of sewage to step over at the North Pattaya end of the Beach near the Dusit. Probably still flowing in a buried pipe around the bend!
  11. The post I was replying to and directed at was a comment more general than soi 6. I am not a fan of the soi 6 myself, as it is a rip off aimed at the tourists, but it is part of what Pattaya is, and boy oh boy, it is a survivor. Stupid things like a Ferris wheel and rusty old airplane aren't what the tourists come to see, now that is lipstick on a pig!
  12. I do not believe that is an accurate statement. My first report after having been out of the country specifically required me to attend. I was even told that by the online system.
  13. I wonder what the potential penalty is for this. Neighbouring countries still have the death penalty for drug trafficking and I expect this qualifies for that crime. Whatever it really is time the world got serious on drug dealing etc instead of treating it like a minor offence. It simply is ruining lives.
  14. Why do you seek to change things and make the place the same as about anyplace else in the world? It does well because it is 'different'.
  15. The actions of the authorities certainly did not do the business concept any favours. Surprised we still have shops and cafes left. They seem to be run by hairy types who sit around wondering what day it is.
  16. In reality I have not found Scots to be tight, more the opposite. THey just like to make jokes about it a lot. They will certainly spend their money on a few drinks.
  17. Or a curtain ring for the more fortunate!
  18. The 20-year war in Afghanistan (2001–2021) resulted in an estimated 176,000 to 212,000 total direct deaths. I think you overstate the numbers and it is why I asked. It is not 'millions' as you claimed. To get to millions you need to go back to the world wars, and consider the holocaust attack on the jews or Stalin's treatment of his own, or maybe Covid totals. Mostly not in my lifetime. Muslims seem to also kill their own readily. Religions, nearly all of them, have blood on their hands.
  19. Yes, the deep freeze being casually driven around Jomtien on the back of a pickup!
  20. Yes, my firts thought too, seems to occur on a regular basis.
  21. There have not been many elections over recent years, and Buddhist holiday closures are no longer enforced in the tourist areas.... so things are heading the other way in reality.
  22. Twenty Eight years may not count as much, it could well have been one year 28 times.
