  1. Where is this? Bangkok perhaps? Not the case in Pattaya where many Westerners aren't bothering, but most Thais are. I agree that if people around you are masked, it shows consideration to do similar.
  2. I am retired, my time comes cheap. Hey many people spend hours looking for a flight that is 50dollars less, or take the bus from the airport rather than a taxi, or other such economies... (I had one pal who would sit in the airport for many hours after the long flight, waiting for the first bus, rather than pay for a taxi).
  3. Yes, infantile pecking that they like to do..... Have to do something to perk up their soapbox posts about something that is really quite minor and trivial.... and now a matter of choice.
  4. As I am of an age in the high risk group I will do what I feel is sensible. Europe/USA with its high infection and mortality rates should not be held up as shining examples .... France... that is a good laugh.....
  5. I am a bit surprised that Indians are involved in this..... in the past it was always put down to young Arab kids.
  6. Yes, we had something similar maybe 4 years ago?
  7. I would not copy anything the French did wrt Covid as they had the highest infection numbers in Europe!
  8. Do you think many who had 100,000 to spend will change their minds over a 300 baht charge? My reasons for a trip to Thailand, after 6 or 7 months in Saudi would not be deterred by that.... or even get me to switch to PI. But it is yet another money grab on the tourist, like the odious foreign ATM charges and inflated parks and attractions charges.
  9. That is simply the way things are here, it is not a problem or concern until it is one. Safety and proactive action on it are rare.
  10. I suspect my elevated driving position also helps me .... I haven't hit a pedestrian yet!
  11. Probably not, but it would certainly be a good idea.... as per mentioned many of these riders do not have correct licences so the shops could be fined for that infraction.
  12. I have a pick up truck and feel it's wide utility and ability to handle floodwater and poorer roads make it a better choice. I don't hit pedestrians so don't feel they are more dangerous in that way, the diesel engine is very economical, more-so than many petrol cars. The turning circle has not proven an issue for me except very rarely if I make a City U-turn, I have to be strong on the wheel... but more of my driving is out of town.
  13. They take them off the person riding them. The owner is then required to go and claim them back... I think that qualifies as confiscated.
  14. If it fails just when you need it is it not money wasted?
  15. As I presume you are the owner of the vehicle, it is registered in your name, you are responsible for all the tickets issued to it. If you choose to let your sister in law drive it, yet she refuses to accept responsibility for her actions while driving, you should reconsider your generosity.
  16. Many times for probably over a decade..... don't see it happening.
  17. I believe I read elsewhere that only 2 motorcycles were confiscated..... which comes over as a rather minor number.
  18. You do keep spouting forth.... seriously, wearing a mask now and again is not the great oppression in life. Your frequent typos suggest a ranting.
  19. Mine seems to think it will go out of fashion if not used immediately. Fortunately when she has none she just gets on with life until she gets some more,,,,,( I budget and cover day to day expenses).....
  20. Like you, I don't know......
  21. Most number plates I see, bar red ones, appear illegible .....and many motorcycles deliberately mount them at 45 degrees...doubt the camera will get that as it flies by at 150kph.
  22. Oh easily....a 2 storey house also makes that more spacious,
  23. So are most of the roadworks around town...... sadly that is where it often remains.
  24. Mine went twice... early morning, I think she feeds the monks or is having an affair, and then again at 7pm to do the candle thing, or is having an affair!
  25. There appears to be a lot of days off here each year, a pity, as sungod states, quite a few are dry days.
