  1. I doubt my sanity of living here sometimes, often when I drive out of my home into the littered streets nearby, that have dozens of scabby, sad looking stray dogs about. The joy of trying to hose away the big pile one had left at my gate still in my mind.
  2. This saga sounds like the 'being pxssed around from pillar to post' one gets a lot in Thailand. I was sent back and forth between soi 5 Jomtien and the revenue dept in Banglamung City area (quite a distance) when trying to get a Tax number once. A pink card looked like a good idea about then.
  3. Took a drive out into the cassava fields nearby (to release a snake I was relocating), must have passed 3 or 4 dumping piles of garbage in the fields by the dirt road. Thais have no respect for their own country......
  4. Hmm. Perhaps I now have less of a dispute with the gas bottle refilling station, who rejected my old cylinder, refusing to refill it, and made me pay for a new one. (Or what happened to my old one?)
  5. No I have never taken to adding salt to fruits..... I was horrified during my very early trips in Thailand to come across salt in the OJ!
  6. They simply do not like the competition, after all, they were doing exactly the same thing.
  7. But are usually rather sour..... I used to have the Mrs make Passion fruit juice for me for daily, breakfast, absolutely delicious, but it required substantial sugar or artificial sweeteners to make it palatable, such that I changed to tangerine juice.
  8. No not at all. Firstly it takes all types to want to do this type of voluntary work.... I can't explain that but ex police and military take to it. Then there are likely benefits to doing it, making other problems (perhaps say with immigration) go away. I hear they have their uses, usually getting round the language and culture barriers. Simply explaining to some drunken oaf, to pay his bar-tab, the alternative being to get locked up in a cell with 29 other drunks over the weekend, or to give the girl 200 baht and she will forget the affront of you goosing her. I had a pal did volunteering.. yes he was a pretentious prxck, but it kept him from doing other silly things.
  9. It is the school break and the local Kuwait weather is hot and oppressive.
  10. Looking for the falang who didn't cough up for the sick buffalo fund!
  11. Sad tale, looks like an attractive young lady. I hope the guy wasn't on a plane already and they catch him soon.
  12. I thought I just saw a news report on how the North Naklua area represented old style Thailand and was to be preserved as a tourist hub! Yes motorcycles with sidecars (that are little kitchens) are a nuisance out on the roads, but so are cement mixers and huge coaches doing U-Turns and parking wherever they please.... don't see any effort to restrict them.
  13. Which surely is all of Soi Buakhao!
  14. Well rather a deflection but I don't think these thousands are as evident as a gang of kids in long white frocks on motorcycles are.
  15. Well a step in the right direction if deterring pot-heads and druggies coming!
  16. It's a coming of age... at 16 they are now violent young thug gang members and throw away their prior toys.
  17. Yeah, I want to know when I can quit too!
  18. I suppose 4 up on a motorcycle is not considered reckless due to them all being Thai?
  19. I believe they are...... it's probably summer break from education over there and July/August are a time of year to run from the heat.
  20. Guy has to plug the meter reading into the hand held device, and then yes it is fully automatic. Only mistake can be a faulty meter or entering the reading incorrectly.
  21. Not much really, supposed to call in the real police for anything important. Certainly no power to detain, unarmed and generally there because the local police are lazy and lack language skills.
  22. Farang hating bullies, bored, waiting for some trouble and possibly high on something.
  23. Where victim and perpetrator statements are involved here, lots of lies about.
  24. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet........how about renaming to 'Pattaya on Sea'....well you know what I am getting at.
  25. Sorry to hear that....... Bad that this incident appears to have been kept quiet, and yet more serious than the last one!
