  1. I just hope my $20/month SS doesn't go into Musk's account. Manila was very responsive to me, guiding me step-by-step via quite a few emails. I waited until I turned 65. (Wouldn't want to settle for $17/month!) What I worry about is the annual letter. Anybody know what happens if you don't reply? Thx.
  2. Yep, we had to drive from CW to Bangna to fetch the previous bankbook because the new one didn't go back to the previous year. Begging & pleading with a senior officer did zippo.
  3. Who cares? They have the Internet for whatever curiosities they may have.
  4. Uhh, Gulf of Musk&Co... definitely the (brain)dead zone.
  5. If you haven't figured out politicians speak with forked tongues, you shouldn't be voting. They never deliver. (Well, except for the present: we thought he was joking until he followed through on all his campaign promises.) There are no more Democrats & Republicans. Those very concepts just don't exist anymore. Who knows even if political parties will still be relevant enough to rise out of the ashes after the billionaires burn it all down. The Deep State they railed against was actually the Heritage Foundation. This plan has been in place a really long time. Like McCarthy, they were waiting in the wings all the time. If voting could change anything, it would be illegal. -- Emma Goldman
  6. Moi aussi! Just noted three extra pages, no TM30 required.
  7. The conscientious objectors set a fine example. Israel is wrong to expand via settlers.
  8. Jack, it's true there are extra docs, three pages, in fact. One is a page that one has gone through the document check, as you mentioned, and two more detailing criminal penalties, deportation aso,, bringing the total to five extra pages. Jeez, eh!
  9. For the 3,000 revenge deaths in his so-called war on drugs.
  10. Righto, you didn't come to Thailand for economic reasons, such as lower cost of living? Same for immigrants seeking a better standard.
  11. Most of the stress on relationships are financial and/or infidelity. Yes, there is true love in Thailand. But to work, it has to be based on equality in the relationship. Everybody wants to live with a little bit of padding. That's not greed. Throw in betrayal and...you don't deserve her.
  12. I think it was both, actually. We supported self-determination for Vietnam, did not believe in the domino theory. Nobody wanted to go--war is a terrible thing. Many of my friends went to prison, I was just lucky to get A Carter pardon.
  13. Only the a-holes. I lost two buddies there...for nothing. Of course, the protests ended because no one was being drafted.
  14. Very insightful, thank you. 'They' have outlawed the 60s when we really thought we could make a difference, that one individual could generate meaningful change. The US still has conscription. 18 countries have begun or restarted a military draft since 2020, 120 in total. I refused to register for the Vietnam draft in 1968. My friends went to prison. I went to Canada. I was arrested 35 times for demonstrations. I rode for freedom; racism is on the march. I joined the women's march for equal rights. I marched against war; there are more wars now than ever. I went to the UN against nuclear weapons; now every country wants some. I worked to legalise dope, abolish prisons. Today, corporados farm the ganja and investors have privatised the prisons. In defence of the planet, I spiked trees against logging, occupied salmon farms, blocked pipeline construction. In total, I served several months in jail. Today, I'd be locked up as a terrorist. Make no mistake, today is the zombie apocalypse. Chaos reigns, intentionally, to distract us while we're loking at our screens, envying celebrities, checking sports scores. Surveillance is on every block and on every house, every doorbell. AI, facial recognition, completes the illusion of privacy. Security theatre is everywhere. Militarized police try to pit us against each other. Soldiers follow illegal orders. Our children & grandchildren will never believe the genuine freedom we had. And still lives in us, no matter how old or invisible we are. Remember when people paid attention to JFK & MLK? How many crusaders are there in the world now, leaders who believe in equality and justice? Nope, got to keep those guns flowing. The old shell game: who's your enemy. It's not the new age, it's the new wage on the Monopoly board with fake crypto money: billions for me, nada for you. It's us boomers who raped and killed our mother. We don't deserve forgiveness, though it happened too slowly to see it happening and now it's happening all at once. Sorry about that, kids. This old sinner be ready to go. We know They Live! I'm ready to be Soylent Green.
  15. Will mods please stop removing the names of products that are useful to posters!
  16. The billionaires: Musk & Thiel?
  17. Possibly the rates have gone up in five years. This is for both eyes, correct?
  18. Don't want cheap. Want free!
  19. Rutnin is expensive & no inpatient for insurance purposes. But their service is outstanding. What 'treatment' can you get for AMD?
  20. Even Clulakongkorn is 25k for each eye.
  21. My normal glasses--presbyopia & astigmatism do not improve the blur now. Taken to wearing no glasses at all but sun-glare is brutal.
  22. AND...all passengers on int'l flights touching down in USA must go through US Immigration. There is no transit facilities!
