  1. Hi

I want to buy a monitor for my laptop( nothing wrong with the screen on laptop, just want a bigger screen)

Any suggestions as to who/where might have the best service?

The laptop is an Acer, so swayed towards buying the same brand or alternatively a Samsung,I guess it does not matter what brand it is, is that correct?

Central at soi 9 would be a convenient location for me, rather than Tuk Com.

I`ve noticed both Power Buy and Banana IT in there and thought the latter`s service was good when I bought a camera there.

Is there anything important to consider when I choose/buy ?

Very limited knowledge on such things so appreciate any advice.

    Thankssmile.png

  2. I was in the same location ( Antons/Bon Cafe) at about the same time and saw the aftermath of the accident.

Have come across similar scenes a few times and it puts me off riding a bike.

I will however be a passenger on the back of one.

I doubt my own ability to ride defensively enough though can see how convenient and useful having one would be.

A friend has been riding one here for about 7 years and not had an accident.

  3. Butter with vegetables? Does that happen at home in a 2 quid cafe?

There's a French guy with a restaurant on Soi Rungland (runs behind Ton'y gym 3rd road). His place is called "Le Cantina", if I remember correctly. Last meal I had in there was sliced duck served with potatoes covered in a home cooked sauce. Price less than B200. Very good food.

There are places that strive to serve decent food in Pattaya, thankfully.

Could I find this food in France at the same price (i.e less than €5.00) ?.. I don't know - who cares - what matters is what's available in Pattaya.

Thanks for the Le Cantina mention, may try that sometime.

As to egg whites not being cooked well enough, experienced that in various places a fair few times, even when asking for the eggs to be well done.

  4. To save you the pain of trying to find something that does not exist..... There is only one official unlimited plan in the sense that you describe. That is the ONE Plan from Three UK. All other have even more restrictive Fair Use policies than are described here or they prohibit tethering.

    Sixteen megabits per second?? Deluded.

Read through this thread with interest. If I wanted say a Maximum of 50 hours online a month in Central Pattaya which would you recommend ??

Speed totally irrelavant as only for email and Banking etc. Thanks.

I don`t know which is the best but have used AIS 3 G a fair bit in Pattaya/naklua, mostly for the same useage you mention, happy enough with it.

  5. Palm Garden mentioned earlier is an OK place IMO.

It`s fairly old, I stayed there many years ago but a friend stayed quite recently, was happy enough with it.

There is no elevator but only 4 stories max., not sure if that would be an issue.

The wifi( chargeable) wasn`t too good but otherwise all OK.

    Swimming pool nice, as stated.

  6. No, I don't have a multiple entry visa. I just need a less-than-15-day extension after my current visa until I fly out of bkk to another country.

So does the 2100 baht charged by Jackgolf include the price of the cambodia visa?

    Hi

I don`t know about Jackgolf in particluar but every visa run company that I know of and have used include the cost of the Cambodia visa, at around the all in price mentioned, which was 2000 baht.

  7. Hi

You may have thought of it already but how about printing out their map, show it to a motorbike taxi driver and get a deal to take you there and then collect you when you are finished?

Or an empty baht bus driver.

Have Au Bon Coin`s phone number to hand, which is on the link, in case he cannot find the place.

    http://www.auboncoinpattaya.com/location.htm

That has worked for me before in trying to get to and from various places.smile.png

  8. You can book by telephone and then pay at any 7/11.

No idea if you can pay at the 7/11 using a Visa card though, I did book on the telephone and then paid cash at a nearby 7/11.

One time couldn`t get my Visa card to work on line, another time it did.

Both prior to the DM move.

I think you could also book by telephone, then pay at a SCB or Kasikorn branch.

Not sure if those options are of any use to you and maybe you are already aware of them.smile.png

  9. If you cannot afford the flight why are you coming here

it seems you will stay for an extended period of time this means you need MONEY

why are people always penny pinching for a flight when this probably the least of the cost for an extended stay

    boggles me mind

I can afford the flight, just seems that the 1 way fligthts I`ve looked at seem poor value compared to returns, hence the question in my OP which has received some uesful answers.

I live in Thailand, retired, don`t work but just took a trip back to UK and Europe, the 1 way price from Thailand was half the return trip price hence I booked it to allow myself more flexibility.

That in retrospect was a mistake.

1 ways from UK not so good value.

  10. Hi

Answers so far apreciated, as to visa , will have non imm O, so not concerned with 1 way travel but thanks for mentioning/asking.

I`ve tried westeast, usually good and used them before but no decent deals for 1 way this time, will look at the others later

Sri Lankan, hadn`t considered, good suggestion, have flight availability at/ around my preferred dates, prices OK.

I`ll also take a look at flying in to HK or KL..

    Thanks.

  11. Hi

I`m after a reasonably priced 1 way London to BKK flight ticket, after having mis calculated travels plans.( Early Novemebr, a little flexibility on date)

The 1 way prices seem close to returns, found an EVA Air 1 way at £ 480 yet return is just £ 580.

I`ve checked loads of sites, including most of the well known London based on line flight centres to no avail.

I have no plans to return back to the UK until 2014, so a return ticket is of no use unless there are any with around 15-18 month vaildity but think the longest is 12 months ?

My own fault for not planning properly but the 1 way flights all seem so expensive compared to returns.

Is there a way to get a decent 1 way price?

I would happily route to somewhere near Thailand, e.g. Manilla, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, stop for a couple of days then travel to Bangkok if that makes any difference.

    Any useful suggestions welcomesmile.png

    Thanks.

  12. Hello

I`m British, currently in Pattaya on a single entry tourist visa obtained from Phnom Penh.

Entered Thailand on 10 August, " Admitted until 8 October."

If I go to Jomtien immigration( on say this Friday, the 5th) would I be able to extend this by 30 days ?

My guess is yes but a local travel agent has said I would only get 7 days.

    Who is right please. ?

I was previously staying on a non imm O visa, doubt that is relevant though.

I have not booked a flight exiting Thailand yet but need to return to the UK later this month so could buy a flight ticket before going to Immigration and show it.

    Thanks in advance.smile.png

  13. Hi

What do you like to do in your spare time, when not working ?

Could you spend more time doing whatever that may be in Thailand and be happy/ healthy doing so ?

Would you get bored not working but living in Thailand, going by your suggestion that you think you would not be able to do what you do as work in the UK?

    Only rhetorical questions really .

A few part time hobbies put together might provide a fulfilling enough life but only you can decide.
