  1. The wife and I have eaten there many times and the food has always been good. The decor is very New York steakhouse and they are now using iPads for menus. Bring your wallet. I have spent upwards of THB 15000 for dinner and wine for 2 people.

How much was the wine?, 15 K bhat or approx £ 300 seems expensive for a steak dinner in Pattaya.

  2. Hi

There was some promotion about this place on television the other night.

From what I could gather near Silverlake Winery/Laser Budhha mountain.

    Has anyone been?

Looked to be set in nice grounds, wondering if any good for an afternoon out.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi

I got a single entry tourist visa in PP using an agent just 2 weeks ago so unless changed, since then should be doable.

However I wasn`t in a rush and waited 4 days.

Good to hear, thanks for the info. Did they say they could get it faster if you needed it? This whole visa situation was very unexpected for me, so I need to get it ASAP. Also, did you have to show proof of travel out of Thailand?

    Hi

The agent had already asked how long I was in PP for( total 7 days) so I`d guess she figured I didn`t need a quick turnaround and didn`t offer it.

No I wasn`t asked to show proof of travel out of Thailand, thought I might have been but wasn`t.

Strangely I was asked for proof of travel in to Thailand.

I provided my Air Asia BKK - PNH return itinerary.

  4. Will be good to find a nice pie. I am stuck with overpriced pukka pies and sausage rolls at the moment. I find the ones in the fridge section of friendship, foodmart etc disgusting. Pastry filled with dried minced meat, undercooked veg and no gravy is not my idea of a pie!

I used to think hollands pies were bad, i would kill for one of them now.

I bought one at Best supermarket the other day, matched the same description.

    Dry and no gravy.

  5. "For cigarettes, the hike will see an increase of between Bt6 to Bt8 per packet of eight local and imported brands, Benja said.

    Cigarette hike 2% on average"

Bt6 to Bt8 per packet is more like 10-15%. Apparently this comes into force today - anyone been to the shops for some smokes? What was the price increase and brand? I am in Hong Kong for a few days, just interested to know how much I will have to pay when I get back.

And please don't turn this into another smoking haters thread, there are plenty of those where you can go and procrastinate.

    L & M up 8 baht today.

All the old prices had been drawn across with new prices.( local Family Mart)

    14 % increase.

  6. I`ve used Good Tour & Travel, based on soi bukhao about 10 times.

Always got me there and back OK although next time for convenience I`ll try a taxi from Cambodia Inter so I can go when I want.

  7. Maybe I`ve been lucky but have never had a problem walking along Beach Road at any time.

Whilst I wouldn`t recommend it for a late night walk, it`s probably safer than some towns back in the UK on a Friday or Saturday night

  8. Wow- Cambodia Inter with the win! Before attempting to set all this up with a private taxi, I went there and explained what I wanted, and they only wanted 3200 baht including the visa to pick me up in a private car. I was expecting to pay at least 5000 or so. So for only an extra 1300 baht you can leave on your own time and avoid picking up and dropping off 6 other guys. I'll report back on the success or failure tomorrow, it seems almost too good to be true.

    Thanks Boyce.

Thanks for posting what you found out.

A night owl like yourself and I`d pay the extra for more flexibility as well.

    Seems a reasonable price.

  9. Yes, it is on the high side although it isn`t the only place asking for/charging that.

Place I stayed at before moving was 7 baht per unit electric and 25 baht a unit water.

Other serviced apartment places were asking in the region of 6-10 baht electric and 25-30 baht water per unit respectively.

    Pattaya area.

  10. I think the old dude was probably right.

Look at the way the young guys and girls were behaving outside the go-go earlier.

Hookers are hookers mainly because they are too lazy to work in a respectable job.

Easy money without much effort is the name of the game.

As for the hooker and her story ...... tears on tap, playing for the camera.

I think you are right, blunt but correct.
