  1. Drinking alcohol can weaken your ability to get drunk.???? Technically true but also BS most friday nights.
  2. Consensus is that we will all get covid at some point, if you are not boosted though you are still at high risk so should probably just stay home until you get your booster. The boosted though should likely live life as normal, the faster everyone gets omnicron the quicker herd immunity will build up. This is different now from the early mad ideas about herd immunity purely because we are talking about groups with two jabs and a booster alongside a potentially milder strain that likely puts less pressure on the hospitals. Consider UK currently, yes it skyrocketed but looks like its coming down again within a month. If we slow the spread too much then we will still be here in years to come. The lack of jabs for under 18's though remains a risk. Not quite suggesting covid parties just yet though, likely though a market for covid positive only zones to party in.
  3. Did you download the app or trying the web version, fairly sure on app I was using passport number to login but not going to risk uninstall to confirm that. Web and line app version I struggled with.
  4. Download mor chana app, register with passport number. Everything should be tracked in single location so if it recognises you by passport number when you look at your certificates on the app you should see your ID number there. Note I have a pink ID card number, that is not the number I was allocated on the vaccine certificate, it was a new allocated number.
  5. Sounds like the OP is holding on to a 2000 year old religious based view of morality, not much place for projecting minority views onto others if they do no harm in this repect. That said I still see some hazy interpretations of right and wrong which do cause harm, for example if you take money from your partners account, its still actually stealing. On this topic though Cyndi Lauper had the right idea.
  6. I think there were some events at the weekend which made tests mandatory before entry, almost nobody turned up. If you are outside your usual residence area, why would anyone take a test, they have no idea how to get back to their own residence without contact and don't want to go to hospital so best option is avoid tests which of course creates a high spread society. In this case can you do the test at your own condo and can you self isolate if positive, so unless this is the new 6 day rule thing I'd take my own test and if that was clear, agree to the test if you are allowed to self isolate. Even at a test center, how do you get back to self isolation from there, will the condo allow self isolation? These unknowns generally means people will avoid tests, spread more. If its 99% asymtomatic does it matter we live in slight denial but get on with lives, it will though matter to those not vaccinated, at high risk or worry about long term symptoms, tough choices for that group.
  7. I wonder if its linked to the freeing of the Thais is Cambodia recently, lure people into debt and gambling, make it impossible to pay back then ship them off in their friday minivans to work off their debts. Loads of debt collectors have been out and about over the last 18 months, saw a few people having to do runners as impossible to pay the interest and likely a lack of trust of authorities to help. Chances are the debts still owed on this one and the collectors themselves have been bought already and nothing changes for those that borrowed.
  8. With high levels of people vaccinated, symptoms will be milder, numbers likely way way higher but that's okay. Just sit on your balcony and I'm pretty sure you will hear at least three people with a cough nearby. We still have a significant disincentive to get tested both financially and getting whisked off somewhere so people will avoid tests even if symptomatic, even those who take the home test will not report it due to the fear on consequences, yes that’s a risk but asymptomatic people potentially take that risk.
  9. Had a interesting discussion with agoda, turned up at the apartment and nobody there to let us in. Phoned agoda and they said they would follow up, an hour later nothing so I told them to cancel it and I did a walk-in to place next door, agoda told me I would not get a refund on my cancellation as had to be cancelled 24 hours before, I told them not to worry as it was a cash on arrival deal even though it was no refunds was in the small print. Normally I pay by card but it was a last minute booking so went with the cash option, this was a lesson that cash on arrival has its meritd.
  10. I think it was 250 baht to hire a bike for the day, last time I was there. 100 to 200 baht any trip for 3 of us.
  11. I have encountered marijuana with meth, got to be careful where you buy and another good reason for legalisation. can be used to to hide low quality weed or worse to get someone addicted so they keep coming back to the same seller, some people even do deliberately to reduce come down but thats meth laced with marijuana not the other way around.
  12. They invented all the really cool <deleted>, without which I doubt this discussion would be happening. The tv, the telephone, the bicycle, the steam train, penicillin, golf, the fridge, flushing toilets, the toaster. Where would you be without these things? They pretty much saved the planet right their building cool stuff.
  13. Curious with these pyramid schemes, if an individual made profit on this scheme are they liable to return their profit? That would maybe discourage investment, the schemes seems to have say a 4 month lifespan until and those who leave before it blows up can make significant profit during those months. 2% a day and matches that may or may not even exist they know its high risk but as lots of others are making money on it they want to be part of it and hope they will get out on time. Problem is that any profit they make is stealing from the later investors and they are not considering the consequences of that. Maybe those 5 should be fined for there involvement to deter others.
  14. Often its not a gambling debt but either a loanshark or friend debt that they cannot afford to pay so they then turn to gambling as potential way out. It sounds stupid but its very common, often combined with a potentially proneness to get a gambling addiction. There does not seem to be a lot of help out there for people with these informal debt problems, many lack trust in the police so they cannot go there when the debts become overbearing. Running, suicide, being shipped off to pay your debt or turn to crime do seem to be happening more than the actually getting help scenario. There are also a lot of online scams at the moment offering ludicrous daily interest, easy money temptation overrules common sense generally ends in tears.
  15. When you get vaccinated you get allocated a 13 digit number and that goes into the linked system that tracks whether you are vaccinated or not. So I doubt any issues at all with a vaccination card, you automatically get an online one with your first vaccine shot. Just scan the QR code on your paper or email version and it will show you your online card. Note do not post your QR code as it also contains personal details and passport number. I also have a pink card so now have two different 13 digit numbers.
  16. They likely need to add some common sense to these messages. 'Yes you can go but you risk getting covid taking it back to your elderly family members who risk catching it and dying.' Or they could go even blunter 'If you are not vaccinated there is a good chance you will kill your grannie on returning home' It is going to be the only option at some point that its in the hands of individuals to make the risk call, we are fairly stupid though and it might take two trips and both their grannies before the message sinks in. I'd likely go though but I would not be bringing back that risk to an old family member, in fact rather than your own vaccine passport we should be asked to show that any old people we live with have been vaccinated.
