Because they are not testing so they have really know idea what is out there, they are just stabbing in the dark and hoping for the best. If the figures were real they would be relaxing restrictions more like New Zealand and Australia.

If the Thai numbers were correct most other countries would see it as elimination given the population size of the country.

Spot on, probably less than 0.5 % of the 70 million population tested so the figures released dont reflect the true extent of covid here,  but are just a daily release of flatulence as in most government statements.

a lot of forum farang are going to have to eat their cynical comments with regards to Thailand handling this crisis.

its pretty clear by now that western countries like America are falling apart. Unfit political leaders, unruly citizens, medical care that cant cope,  blame game, complete chaos. Thailand: united responsible citizens and practical leaders. Results: just look around.

    Congratulations, Thailand.

Clearly alcohol is freely available again.!

Does anyone have a reason why Phuket has had such a (relatively) big problem with the virus, at least compared with Pattaya? Is it the Muslim influence from the southern provinces, residents returning home carrying the infection after visiting Malaysia for religious purposes? Or is there something I'm missing?

Maybe so many Chinese visitors for so long and the previous governor allegedly not releasing some very early covid cases figures and keeping the resort and the tills open until the very last possible moment and importantly they are doing some regular daily testing in Phuket.

A future problem could also be the many thousands of Phuket tourist industry workers returning home to the provinces of Issan  etc to their families where testing is seemingly a last resort because of potential cost.

Maybe it was lost in translation!  If there was no need for anyone to visit Immigration until 31 July, they may as well close it down!  Extensions of stay for work, marriage to a Thai and retirement do not require the holder to leave Thailand, therefore they can and should be processed at the required time.  How offices handle those who choose to let their extension expire and go after 31 July may differ from office to office - some may fine for overstay, some may be lenient. But there isn't much to gain by putting off the visit.

Their is a requirement to keep people out of the offices an amnesty declared why would their be fines for overstay.

Clearly the directive says no need to for 90 day dont come which applies to all the classes of visas you mentioned as still requiring attendance at an office.

You interpret it as only tourist visas or visas requiring border runs are exempt.

Fair enough, guess the guy at immigration has got it wrong ?

And as long as we all follow the same procedure, immigration will have no excuse to attempt to fine/bribe any of us. This really is a case of 'united we are strong'.

No 90 day reports until they tell us otherwise. And when you do next visit immigration, make sure you have a copy of the order in your folder.

Yes exactly no need to attend for anyone until at least 31st July or as a new notification is issued.

Running along to do 90 day reports because its quick or to show 800k in bank etc etc will confuse immigration officers themselves! you have been told official statement amnesty unitl 31st July for all classes of visas no need to go, its written in blue and white and as i read it that includes visas that have simply been extended for the year ....they are still a visa albeit extended.....so they are not excluded.

Try calling 1178 immigration visa hotline as a guy did yesterday their was a whole thread on the subject he was told everybody has amnesty including retirement extensions until 31st July and or further announcement.

  6. Lordy their was a thread yesterday where a guy had called immigration hotline twice and clearly be told the extension amnesty does include those on retirement yearly extensions with no need to do it if due now or soon...... was a clear directive ...........you dont need to go to an immigration office.

Why are people here been encouraged to still go, the whole idea of the amnesty was to stop people having to attend.!

is MT you can do a 90 day in 2 minutes

But their is absolutely no need to do a 90 day report for the next 3 months and after that it will probably be the following 90 days when they begin again.

The whole amnesty is to keep people out of immigration offices, no one expects you to run off there to show them 800k in a bank what an earth for?

its all on hold for 3 months thats the whole idea.!

So should I bring the country to it’s knees and possibly incite riots or try start get the country going again in areas that are virus free to start with ????

    Heads or tails !

Or option C start feeding the people providing funds for all,and start a program of extensive free testing nationwide to deal with the real facts however harsh.

This would involve some huge scoops from the ministerial troughs and a dip in the massive gold and currency reserves held by the nation.
