  1. Get used to it, IMHO the deal is done. He will come back, go to jail for a few days, there will be protests, he will get amnesty on the basis he personally keeps away from politics (easy to promise). All this media and leaked statements/comments is just about getting the Thai public used to the idea his return is inevitable.
  2. Could you not just send in one go from your bank? Swift charge is 25-30 USD. Banks have a limit of 50,000 USD/day I think?
  3. But :+) One could say that if the only arrow in your quiver is that you are NOT the Tory party, then it could be worth a go.
  4. Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. I can only imagine that some very rich people are shaking with excitement at how they can bribe their way to having their own get rich schemes enshrined in the new "replacement" laws. Sleaze and Sleaze. I wish Starmer would just say "we will take the country back into he EU if elected" . That would really put the cat amongst the pigeons and be quite entertaining I suspect. The fact that we have two of the three major parties "pro-brexit" just makes the shambles even worse. Some days I wish I was Scottish.
  5. It will be a for a month in tourist zones then back to normal graft and thuggery.
  6. vituperative = Using, containing, or marked by harshly critical or irate language. I had to look it up, never come across it before. I am sure I am not the only one.
  7. Weather still not great in those locations yet. Doable but jacket weather in the evening and still rain. I am returning to Greece end of next month, nice balance as it gets too hot here for me.
  8. After 3 minutes I had to give up, I realised the only "social group" I belonged to, and wanted to, was going down the pub.
  9. I gave up smoking many years ago, never had a another cigarette again (over 30 years) I gave up the drink for a year, after the first few weeks it was easy. I now drink again but in moderation. I find monitoring my blood pressure, using an app to monitor my movement and generally trying to be "weller" helps me.
  10. You are lucky you don't live in Bangkok where IMM and LTD are heaving even more.
  11. Sad for the poor blokes family. The drivers story does not fully ring true IMHO, I suspect the driver pulled out without warning into the right lane and took out the overtaking Ducati.
  12. I never have. If you submit a yearly tax self assessment or company taxes then your accountant could deal with that or you could state it on your next tax self assessment. If you are on PAYE then nothing to do.
  13. Get an allergy screening test done, they are very interesting! I like to start my day with a bovril.
  14. One thing to add which is not in the OP (but in this mornings BKP). They are going to charge the officers with "dereliction of duty" but but but, get this, not for the bribe but not officially booking and fining her for the possession of an illegal item (the vape). This country!!!!
  15. Prostitution, drugs, people smuggling, corruption, murder, serious traffic violation, and a host of other crimes go missed but Johnny from Essex has been caught on a holiday bender so its all OK.
  16. Its very common in Bangkok, but you have to go with the agent and you spend about 20 minutes there as Imm need to take a biometrics of you. As Bangkok imm at CW can take 5 or 6 hours many use it and the services are openly available. Not cheap, 9000 last time I used it but they arrange transport as well.
  17. I think, maybe, that because you are considering corruption whereby you are the oen being tapped up. The biggest areas of corruptness are with civil service budgets, especially at provincial level. Some say ;+) each office is a well oiled machine of money scraping and distribution.
  18. Go into the True office yourself or phone them for clarification. I find their internet in my area is on and off but they always get back to me quickly if I have a query.
  19. Are they referring to a male member of the provincial government?
  20. Simples for me, a bargirl is a hooker who works out of a bar, usually employed by one bar and plys her trade from there. If she is not employed by the bar but still hooking then she is a "freelancer".
  21. Ka Ching. Ka Ching, get those big kickback projects rolling before the election.
  22. Title should have been "Confidence and trust damaged by rampant corruption at the core of Thai Society and government institutions"
  23. Police deny extorting money well they would wonld'nt they
  24. Just imagine what the going rate will be that they will paying for those to come and camp out at the airport for his return. Thailand is just swapping one corrupt group for another corrupt group ad infinitum.
