  1. Hi there,

Does anyone know where to find fresh garden cress (not watercress)?

Foodland used to have it, not anymore. Villamarket had some recently but since 2 weeks, nothing, and the staff doesn't know if any will come soon.

    I'm craving for it.

    Anyone ?

Despite being very busy, there was no shortage of slots at Swampy. New slots have been willingly offered to new budget carriers just in 2012 (such as SCOOT). as Yermanee (Ger-ma-nyyyyyy ???) said, it was AirAsia's own (wrong!) decision to make the move.

They will regret that though, as we will see on October 1st, which might create a big Chaos at DMK, as this airport is certainly NOT well prepared yet to handle AirAsia's traffic.

    c) Yermanee

As mentioned, I agree with your opinion regarding AirAsia's decision.

Though I don't see "Smile filling the gap". They will just be replacing some of Thai's flight's, same as it happed with CNX, Udon etc.

I just checked their HKT - CNX flight, and THAI is ceasing to operate that route on the day SMILE takes over.

No additional capacity - it is less capacity than before !

Thai Smile only operates A320 aircraft, whereas THAI used plenty of ancient A300 (on that HKT-CNX route, for example), which accomodated 249 or 260 (depending on the configuration).

A 320 only seats 180 Pax, or 186 at most, if you are trying to give your PAX a sardine-can experience.

So the headline of the article should rather be:

"THAI AIRWAYS GROUP is dramatically reducing capacity on CNX-HKT route"

The price of 2.700 for BKK-HKT is nothing to rave about either - with Bangkok Air you can usually get a ticket on a great full-service Airline for no more than 2.500 THB, unless you book just a day before (but still even then sometimes), or unless it is peak season.

The only good thing is that you can earn THAI and StarAlliance Miles on SMILE DOMESTIC flights, as those even have a TG flight number

    .

    Thanks for the clarification.

Re " Yermanee " it's the way Thai's pronounce Germany which if found a bit funny.

    Cheers

  3. L'Equipe published an interview with Bacary Sagna.

Naturally the anti-Arsenal british media jumped on it like vultures with each drawing their own conclusions.

So I looked up the said article in l'Equipe and translated it as it was published :

    quote :

Title : Bacary Sagna Asks Himself Questions.

We all expected Van Persie to go. But the departure of Alex Song came as a surprise. I don't understand it. It's a big loss for the club. If one sees the 2 best players of last season leave, you ask yourself many questions. I can understand that the supporters are nervous.

    unquote

This was all that was published regarding Arsenal. The rest of the article is about "les blues" the French national team.

What strikes me is that Sagna said that the Arsenal players knew that RVP was going to leave. Does the British media reflect on that? No they don't, and we all know why. He's now a Man U player with all the fringe benefits that brings.

They all jump on the Song departure that came as a surprise, and the media wouldn't be the media if they didn't put their own negative swing on it.

When will this bias end ?

  4. Pushing all the low-cost airlines into Don Mueang to alleviate overcrowding at Suvarnabhumi, then allowing slots to Thai Airways' budget carrier is just wrong.

Air Asia switched to Don Muang because of financial incentives, it was their own choice. They could have stayed at Suwannapum if they had wanted. Thai smile filling the void is just good business.

    Just my opinion.

  5. Just look at how Pattaya and Phuket have ended up because of farangs. sad.png

I only wish Thais weren't so kind at letting so much farang scum enter its country.

Just look at the people on here trying to live here on endless tourist visas as they've no other way but are desperate to stay.

There's nothing wrong with people looking for their slice of happiness, however I admit that there's much wrong with the way some of them do it. It's one thing to seek happiness it's another thing entirely that in doing so making other people's lives miserable.

    Just my 2 cents

  6. Might seem strange to say but at least the man lived to be a ripe old age and I'm sure lived quite an interesting life as apposed to many of the very young people who also die in Road accidents and have only lived short lives.

RIP to the old dude and condolences to his family.

PS: I see to many people (yes Thai and Farangs) who use roads like they are in the Formula 1 race and for what......arrive 3 minutes earlier to your destination?

Death by accident is equally tragic at any age IMHO. Condolences to his loved ones.

  7. Several people have taken the time and shown the kindness to help the OP, phuturatica, yet this member hasn't bothered to say thanks or even recognize in any way what has been done for him or her. This happens too often at TVF and is one of the reasons I rarely bother to post here.

Is my complaint reasonable, or is this just the way the world is now, and I should learn to accept that common courtesy has gone the way of the Dodo? I know we shouldn't help people to be thanked for it, but let's be honest, it only takes a few seconds and is the proper thing to do.

No you are not unreasonable..seems more likely the OP is ungrateful or incapable for some unknown reason of taking ten seconds to say "thanks"....see it all the time on TV and other forums.

    My pet peeve also.

  8. Thanks LMan. I've noticed it's a Thai Airways sign. I'm flying back to bkk early Oct business class with United. Are there other fast track lines, or does everyone use the advertised Thai line? Plus, do I get a card/pass from the steward on the plane since I'm in business class? How does that work? Do all business class flyers able to use "fast track"?

Thai fasttrack is for Thai-passengers only.

There's a fasttrack location opposite gate D6 afaik maybe there are others, but that's the one I use on arriving.

Normally every airline landing at BKK gives fasttrack cards to business class passengers.

On departure you'll get your card at check-in.

    Have a good trip

  9. Not from what I saw, but then again opinions differ.

    Yermanee wai.gif

nah, some opinions are simply wrong.

I'm not going to argue about which opinions are wrong and which not. God knows I've been wrong many times, but from what I saw Mertesacker did get the ball first, even the normally anti-Arsenal commentators agreed on that.

But as I said you have your opinion and I have mine and that's the way it should be.thumbsup.gif

  10. Beats me though how Suarez that racist Urugayan didn't even get a yellow card with all his diving, theatrical antics and very, very dirty play. bah.gif

it was a penalty and a red card for mertesacker. all day long. appalling refereeing as always by howard webb.

Not from what I saw, but then again opinions differ.

  11. Man of the match for me is Diaby, followed by T.Vermaelen.

Beats me though how Suarez that racist Urugayan didn't even get a yellow card with all his diving, theatrical antics and very, very dirty play. bah.gif

Anyway I'm waiting for the media to start calling M.U. a one man team, but as we all know that will never happen. They'll only

laud the brilliance of Sir Chewing McRednose in bringing RVP to M.U.

  12. Hmm so another 0-0 tonight? I will be enjoying the game....clap2.gif

So sorry to disappoint you. A very different Arsenal from last year but a very fine result.

    In case you missed it : Liverpool 0 - 2 Arsenal clap2.giftongue.pngclap2.gif

You know I wouldn't mind the 0-0, but I bet the football will be exciting to watch.

More than last night anyway. whistling.giftongue.png

  14. So now we have 3 strikers who have scored 1 goal between them for Arsenal in the last 18 months. Huge gamble for Wenger. I will be amazed if he pulls it off and keeps us in the top 4 this year.

I think you're being a bit unfair here Santisuk. A couple of numbers from last season including cups :

Lucas Podolski for Koeln : 20 goals

Olivier Giroud for Montpellier : 25 goals

Santi Cazorla for Malaga : 9 goals

Theo Walcott for the Arse : 11 goals

    Oxlade-Chamberlain : 4 goals

And the list goes on with midfield and defense Arteta, Thomas Vermaelen (6) Sagna etc.

I have no insight in what goes on behind the scenes so I don't speculate about it, but I do think we have a team with possibilities this season.

Only question is, how soon will the newcomers adapt.

Defense seems to be going in the right direction and that's a big plus compared to the last few seasons.

I just hope we get a bit better refereeing than these same last few seasons also.

Anyway let's hope tonight is the start of something to cheer for. Fingers crossed.

  15. Boncafe also have options worth considering which utilises a 'soft pod'.

Thanks for that. I have been looking for these coffee-pads for ages.

I always bring them whenever I go to Europe.

And guess what, Boncafe sells exactly the same Petra machine I brought from Germany years ago.

    Very good coffee.

Thanks again, I'm off to Boncafe now.

    Thanks again.
