  1. I don't think you can compare countries as easily as that.

Every individual has different aspirations (at least in a free country).

I can understand that as a muslim family you believe a predominantly muslim country would be better to live in and practice your religion than a buddhist country.

However having said that you should consider the possibilities of finding a job, the risk of not being considered a valid member of the community you wish to adopt and above all be accepted as a fellow muslim and not a Thai immigrant.

    Just my 2 cents.

  2. I live in a small two story house. The unit will be for the living room downstairs which is approximately 35 sq meters. I will use the unit mostly in the late afternoons when the sun won't penetrate through to the room directly. The windows of the room face to the east somewhat. The house next door should block some of the rays I suppose.

Now I'm not sure what brand to get! Lol. Everyone seems to swear by their own brand.

How about powerbuy selection? There is a homepro near me as well. Which one is better? Either way I'll check them out today.

You will need a unit of abt 12.000 BTU. Wherever you buy or whatever brand make sure that the installation is included and if possible a 1 year free maintenance. Normally the smaller shops specialized in AC will give you better service, and sometimes better deals. Correct installation is very important.

  3. Er no It said it was on 109

Printed programs are printed weeks beforehand and for a whole month.

If one of the broadcasting companies, in this case ESPN/STAR, changes their schedule you can hardly blame True for that.

Instead of complaining about the wrong culprit, you might learn to use the full extend of the checking possibilities provided

    by your HD-box and remote.

    Just a suggestion.

Most likely the guy has the gold package which doesn't include the relevant HD channel. If True advertised the Gold package as having full live coverage of the F1 season, then any such subscribers have a valid complaint with True, regardless of who decides the channel's schedule.

Wrong !!! Any package gives you a certain number of channels regardless of what is shown on that channel. I also have the Gold package and was able to watch both qualifying and the race. In the Gold package a number of free HD channels are included.

  5. ..... You should read carefully before you post silly things.

If you can't handle a dissenting opinion (or three), maybe you should think carefully before you post silly things.

Wonder how many times a day you have to post this message. People disagree and express themselves. What should people do when disagreeing?

Well now..... maybe you could show your dissent by replying to what's posted and NOT by attacking the poster.

    Just a thought !

  6. BBC-reporter to his cameraman : Fancy an all-expense paid trip to Thailand ?

Cameramen : Sure …. But hasn’t this been done before ?

BBC-reporter : Yes, but we’ll have a slightly different angle, let’s bring in a social worker who hasn’t got a clue and a couple of sexpats.

Cameraman : Wow let’s go for it, I like the red light districts in Bangkok!!!!

BBC-reporter : Yes me too, and prostitution in Thailand always brings high numbers of viewers. It’s just good business.

Off-course he doesn't know that it's a hot topic here on TV also.

  7. Thanks for sharing. Also shows that being polite is the way to go with officials in any country.

    Yermaneewai.gif

Absolutely, a smile and a genuine good feeling that can be read in your eyes works wonders. thumbsup.gif

Once got an upgrade from business to 1st in Abu Dhabi because I said " shukran" at the boarding gate when I received my boarding card back. He asked me if I spoke Arabic, and I said : no but I always learn a couple of words of the language of the country that I'm passing through just to be polite. He smiled took my boarding pass and changed the seat to 1st. Naturally I "shukraned" him again.tongue.png

  8. Booking.com is one of my favorites also. However have on many occasions had better deals on hotel's websites.

    Yermaneewai.gif

Booking has always seemed expensive to me, compared to Agoda.

Typical example 10 minutes ago as follows.....

4 nights at the Hilton, Hua Hin July 29th check out Tuesday 2nd Aug

Hilton website for the 'Pacific Suite' Per night = 9,700 baht

Booking dot com (as above) Per night = 11,416 baht

Agoda (as above) Per night = 6,265 baht (includes breakfast)

All above are the same room and single occupancy

Out of interest I tried to check the Hilton Booking ... Booking.com had that price and Yes AGODA have a super sale ... probably beat booking.com to it.

I usually check both sites and they come out pretty much the same ... I just find booking.com easier to deal with.

Amazing really since both companies belong to the same owner company. Have however completely different strategies.

I have been burned once by Agoda. So that's it for me.

Latestays used to be good as Craig said, not any more, they've gone the Agoda way.

  9. I would be surprised if you could beat booking.com ... their prices are ALL IN no extras like daily booking fee (agoda) etc.

Certainly in Thailand I have very rarely come across anyone offering cheaper for the same room. In addition you just guarantee your booking with a card and pay at the hotel.

In fact on occasions I have looked around a hotel and then booked the room on the internet, using booking.com and then checked in.

Booking.com is one of my favorites also. However have on many occasions had better deals on hotel's websites.

The pay at the hotel option is solely at hotel's discretion. If the hotel wants immediate payment, bookingdotcom has to abide.

  10. I've found dealing with hotels a real mixed bag. Some have great deals on their website, some don't. I've had hotels match any rate found online, even if cheaper than they proved. I've had hotels make me open my laptop and book via their hotel's website as they couldn't offer those rates even through I standing right there. I've also had hotels refer me to websites like Agoda while I am standing at their counter to book as they weren't allowed to offer those rates, whether online or in person. This even happened to me one time in Bangkok when I just wanted to extend my stay 2 nights!

    It's worth shopping around.

The surprising thing is that an abundance of information is now readily available on the internet, and so few people use it to its full extend.

And here is where being a member of Thaivisa really helps.

    Yermaneewai.gif

  11. I've often seen something strange about their website. It seems that the prices always increase right before my eyes. I'll look at it one time- do the booking procedure all the way through short of actually paying to see all of the extra charges. After that I'll go to Thai Airways, Nok etc for some comparison shopping. When I come back minutes later to actually book Air Asia, the prices are increased or the flights I was looking at are no longer available. Happened more than once - in fact seems like every time. It makes me kick myself and think that I should have just booked it in the first place. Made me wonder if their site is "sensitive" to multiple requests from the same IP address or something like that.

To avoid this always delete the cookies from air asia on your browser. That way then cannot identify you !!

  12. Why is it so difficult to understand that in this modern day and age the elderly don't want to play the role imposed on them by a society so focused on youth, and are refusing to just wither away.

We have a zest for life that you fail to comprehend by your limited life experience.

If the elderly cannot find their slice of happiness in their home countries what for crying out loud is wrong with looking for it in faraway places.

I agree that many fail and that many are misguided but more than TV members realize succeed.

Don't be jealous ! Hopefully your time will come.

    Yermaneewai.gif

What nonsense. You know very well it's not really about the age gap. You would if you have followed the conversation so far but I guess it's better to ignore things we don't wanna hear of.

You're entitled to your opinion off course.

    Not that it matters.

Neither does defending inhumane behavior rolleyes.gif

    OK I'll bite.

I know my English is not as good as I would like it to be, but pray tell where have I promoted or defended inhumane behavior ?
