  1. Since you fly business you will have to be content with the smallish duty free in the premium building.

They do have electronics but I don't know if the items you're interested in are available.

The monetary value of your miles is however quite low i.e. 54 Miles for 1 qatary riyal, so your 50.000 miles would be abt 8.500 Baht.

You can combine miles with money.

    Hope to have helped

  2. Please don't tell me what I can and cannot do.

To my home country EMS has a much better track record in my experience than DHL.

Geez yermanee, I wasn't even talking to you much less throwing "orders" around, just posting my own experience which apparently runs counter to yours.

And that of a recent poster that lost some passports via EMS.

Well you could have fooled me by quoting my post and starting by " Don't use ....".

Sorry if I have offended you and for your bad experience with EMS.

However bad experiences almost always happen at the destination end, so the different experiences might be due to different destinations.

  3. Is there a shrink wrapping service available at Suvarnabhumi airport?

    Yes

OK, thanks for the 'Yes" but now where could this be done, how much (if you know) and any other pertinent info regarding this service. Thanks

There are several in the departure hall. Each one near one of the entries from outdoors. Price is 120 Baht per item.

  4. Registered mail is tracked till it leaves the country.

If you want to track it till destination use EMS mail next time.

Don't use EMS for truly critical stuff, DHL/FedEx only.

Please don't tell me what I can and cannot do.

To my home country EMS has a much better track record in my experience than DHL.

  5. Depends on what you call sane.

My version of sane is ignore all the small negatives, and enjoy the positives.thumbsup.gif

Have lived here for ages now, but you could always try Phuket next time. According to many Pattaya haters it's a lot more civilized than here.whistling.gif

Just my personal opinion of course.

  6. As theblether has quite rightly pointed out we need your dates and departing airport.

Post them here and then relax....your work is almost done....there are some excellent posters here who will help out. thumbsup.gif

No need for me to intervene.

The Blether has everything under control whistling.gif

One word of warning though. Some of the Etihad offers are with very long layovers depending on date of travel.

  7. Yes Speculation with grounds wink.png

Giroud and Podolski i don't think have signed to sit on the bench do you?

If Arsenal do indeed sign another two strikers do you think RVP will be staying Yermanee? coffee1.gif

For years Wenger has been ridiculed by the media for not splashing the cash.

Now that he does guess what.

I'm not one for wild speculations, and as I said earlier, if RVP leaves then good luck to him and hopefully at a nice financial gain for the club.

The Arsenal is the club that I chose to support and I do mean club.

  8. Arsenal have reached an agreement with Montpellier to sign striker Olivier Giroud. smile.png

The 6ft 3in striker is set to join Lukas Podolski in a new-look Arsenal forward line next season, and his impending capture will prompt further speculation about the future of Robin van Persie.

    RVP to Man City?

That's exactly what it is isn't it ?

    Yermanee wai.gif

  9. RvP's disappointing showing at the Euros and the early exit of the Orange means he can concentrate on discussions with Ivan and Arsene about his future a couple of weeks earlier than expected.

I just wonder whether the traumas of the Euros will make him more inclined to stay in the warm bath of 'home' at the Emirates. If he goes he's probably knocked at least 5m euros off his value over 3 matches.

Some players can adapt readily to playing under different systems and with other teammates than those he's used too. Others can't.

RVP is one of the cant's.

Remember Henri, when he played with Pires, Bergkamp, Vieira etc. he thrived.

Not so at Barcelona. Same as Messi when he plays for Argentina.

To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing RVP go. No one is bigger than the club. Give me players with the mindset of Thomas Vermaelen for example any day of the week.

    Rant over

  10. Just to make a point, I too do not feel that I have been 'trampled on', but it does happen, and for people who want to do something about it (I realize not everyone will care, and I did mention that in my OP), I'm asking for ideas.

I am not saying Thailand is bad, and I actually have had a good experience here. But, what's wrong with aiming to have a central repository of sorts with warnings about Thailand -- esp those stories that might not usually make it out of Thailand? No hatred, no embellishing, but just a place where people can get information about things in Thailand and come to their own conclusions.

Right now, most of what exists are sites who benefit from tourism to Thailand so it's not in their best interests to report on any negative events that go on in Thailand.

If you take the time, the sort of information you are talking about is out there on the internet if one cares to even look...In fact even TV serves this purpose to a degree...

Surely, but TV is massive, and, in fact, I NEVER got a hit on ThaiVisa from outside of Thailand all the many times I've researched topics related to Thailand. When you are IN Thailand, you get hits near the top for TV, but my experience out of the country has never turned up TV. And, TV also has much embellishing which is natural in such a forum which might make readers of it dismiss it as a place predominated by (potentially unfair) negativity about Thailand. Also, there is not a place where all this information is represented in multiple languages.

I know the idea is grand(iose), but I'm just asking.

Have you ever read Don Quixote ?

No, then I suggest you do.

BTW there is allready more than enough negativity here on TV, in fact much too much for my taste.

Thailand has, as every country in this world, pro's and cons.

Try to enjoy the pro's and you might be surprised.

  11. Giroud to Arsenal anyone ?

Now all we need is 10 more defenders and we're complete whistling.gif

    Yermaneewai.gif

I think Wenger wants Arsenal to own the majority of the French national side. Already Sagna (when not injured) and Koscielny. Giroud and possibly M'Vila to come?

All a side show to the major signing he needs to make if he can't keep his Dutchman. Three 12 million quid players doth not a 36 million quid plus player make!

If Wenger can sell RVP for 36 Million he should not hesitate.

And as for french players, he's had a pretty good success rate with them hasn't he, to name but a few, Henri, Pires, Petit, Vieira, Clichy, Sagna, Koscielny and I.m sure the list goes a lot further. Also a few real disappointments I agree,

  12. I do have some sympathy for the OP, one might expect an airline to treat a Business-Class passenger better, than the rest of us down-the-back, perhaps one free change-of-date in this case might have generated positive-feedback, about Qatar Airways ?

Airlines do treat business-class passengers better than economy passengers.

However in the booking process Qatar gives you 3 different options regarding the price i.e. Business Restricted (cheapest), Business Semi-flexible (more expensive), and BIZFlex (most expensive).

It's up to you to check the difference in conditions BEFORE you choose which option is best for you.

If you choose the cheapest option then you have to be prepared for the eventual consequences of your OWN choice.

But as always it's easier to blame the airlines isn't it?

    Just my opinion.

  13. If I remember correctly, you cancelled your booking because there was a new promotion by Qatar Airways for a much cheaper price.

Next time before you book read the ticket conditions for the sub-class of ticket you want to book, i.e. business class has several sub-classes, which all carry different restrictions and/or penalties, and these conditions are readily available on the booking page. Just click on - Fare Rules - in the trip summary on the right hand side of step 3 of the booking process.

BTW 4.000 Baht seems correct to me.

    Hope to have helped

  14. Thanks for all the valuable feedback...I am sold on Oman Airways so will book with them smile.png The ground-side and air-side amenities look superb and the price is very reasonable to boot. Thanks again guys as I was not even aware of this airline when I made my op wai.gif

Please could you update this post with details of cost if possible, then a report on how the service with Oman was, as this will help others get to know about this Airline. Also if you like it try to use their Card system, it can also be used with Etihad.
