Suggest you join the topic that discusses it at length in "the lounge". Failing that, as I am sure your mother once told you, "if you cant say anything nice, say nothing at all" seems appropriate. Your question or suggestion was well phrased, clearly understood and like all feedback will be noted and given the consideration it deserves.

Great in theory, but anyone who has lived here any length of time knows the reality of this is way off the mark, but Thailand is not unique in that though.

Youre right on many levels, that said ,in some you are also in "ideal world" territory and that unfortunately is very rarely the case here. As I mentioned earlier in this , he knows her best, and knows how she will probably react etc and thats the missing info for us standing on the outside of this. She may well be a great Mum close to her child, she may also be a "I got a life lead, kid is too young I aint doing this alone" Onlly the OP can assess that one.He's in a tough place and I wish him well with his choices.

Well we clearly differ on that.In my opinion its the Therapist responsibility to ask the general contraindications prior to ANY treatment.If they dont want to answer them, they dont get treated. That is the safest approach, rather than relying on them to disclose something or not that they may think is not even relevent to a massage. IMHO

Good for you. In my opinion judging by my experience with massage shops, any paper they may have is pretty worthless judging by what I observed and received. Although in fairness not many have any such certificates etc on display.

Shame they all werent, but yours is the exception not the general rule. As a qualified Therapist and former University teacher in the subject I know too.

And you think these massage girls woukd know and fully understand what you are telling them.Give me a break.

Explain to me how a "customer" can determine what treatment /product etc is relevent to any condition he may have ? Only the therapist can determine that. The very first thing any Doctor wil do is ask questions, thats the point.Yes the customer has to disclose if asked but a "customer" may not think something is relevent because they are not qualified to determine if it is or not. You honestly believe most of these massage girls give a hoot if you have high blood pressure or have been undergoing chemotherapy, or would know the implications if you told them !

Agreed, but the customer isnt the "professional" and they should ascertain if a person is suitable for what type etc by asking pertinent questions.

Bit late AFTER the event and demonstrates the point perfectly. Imagine if you had a nut allergy and she used almond oil !!! certain medications react badly with certain aromatherapy oils too. The list goes on. Dangerous in the wrong hands and no formal training.

Pressure directly over the spine as an example, the whole thing could have detrimental effect depending on the health and medication of the recipient.They NEVER ask or find out first.

Crazy going to these places. Mostly untrained and learned from the girl next to them. No contra-indications checked, and performing some pretty dangerous movements on some people. No wonder people have been injured, some permanently.

Just remember that if you intend to stay in Thailand, she holds all the cards until you get the paperwork, after that you are in a stronger place but by no means winning position.
