    Airplane mode stops your phone connecting to a network, is designed to be used on Airplanes. You need to activate "roaming" you dont need to buy anything, unless you intend on using the internet or making calls on that sim whilst travelling.

    Like many things in Thailand, depends entirely on who you encounter on the day ! You could go months years and nothing, then get stopped 3 days in a row. Entirely luck of the draw in my opinion. From a personal point of view, for your own health safety and particularly financial aspect, you would be silly NOT to wear one. One minor spill and you could be financially ruined or even a paraplegic ! STAY SAFE !

    My suggestion PIR floodlight will light on movement and a CCTV camera. Neither expensive and easy to install. You can even log in to the camera anywhere in the world.
