  1. Free visas for Chinese: it seems TAT prefers poor tourists in group tours who spend as little as possible and cannot go home because transported by an unreliable chinese airline. At the same time, farangs are prohibited to do visa runs and must spend their money outside of Thailand. I am sure this will have very good results for the tourist income of Thailand.

  2. Thai schools want farang teachers for teaching English and other languages because they cannot find qualified Thai people for teaching foreign languages. They want to emplay foreigners but do not provide the necessary work permit. This is illegal, responsibility of the employer to get a work permit for his employee. It is not only illegal in Thailand, it is illegal in every Western country. So the police must fine the schools, not the employees.

The actual situation will result in a sharp drop of foreign teachers in Thailand when this continues like it is at the moment.

  3. Many people in Thailand work with no work permit, I have known many over the years, they flagrantly ignore the law, they know what they are doing is illegal , yet continue to do it, then complain when the laws are enforced.

Paid or voluntary, on site or online, if you are working in any capacity for a commercial enterprise, you need a work permit if you live in Thailand.

Everybody knows it, yet so many choose to ignore the law, this is why they are tightening up, because people take the piss.

Only partly true. If a farang in Thailand - no matter if tourist or resident - works online for foreign companies, this has not to interest Thailand. And after all: How they can control this?

  4.

And what about car and motorbike rentals who ask for passport deposit? Is this now illegal?

Not illegal. It just make a major fool and a potential victim of those who does that, check "MH370 stolen passports".

I mean the police should prohibit to car and motorbike rentals to ask for the passport. It is best to give a copy only, never give your passport as a deposit.

  5. TAT and airport authorithies should ask the immigration, they could explain it. Tourists not welcome, visa granted, but entry refused. The visa run crackdown will turn into a tourist arrival crackdown. Amazing Thailand, they want the money of the tourists but they refuse entry to tourists. So let's spend the money elsewhere, e.g. in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia. All these countries are beautiful and welcome tourists, at cheaper price then in Thailand. And more friendly people.

  6. I could easily work as a teacher in Thailand, but I am not interested. I speak and write 6 languages, plus some Thai and Bahasa Indonesia. I work as a translator and quality controller for advertising companies. What I earn in Thailand in 1 month, I earn here in 1 day. The problem in Thailand is that there are not many Thais with good knowledge of English. And many farangs are not qualified for teaching English but they are still needed because the level of Thai English teachers is terribly low.
