Sorry for this but not knowing the restaurant are you saying they closed it for 4 months for no apparent reason?

I don't know the reason but I do know that there were some health problems in the family as relayed to me by one of them before they closed.

I'm glad they all seem well & that they are open (please forgive the sarcasm of my earlier posts)

  2. I agree about Hemingways pizza RL.

I've decent enough & very poor dough.

I think there are times when they don't have enough dough so make a fresh batch & don't prove it properly.

I didn't know that PoR did chicago deep dish or I would have sampled it.

It should take 45-50 mins minimum

I have a gas grill. Cracked pepper and ground sea salt padded in before cooking, but I don't over do it. Steaks like these don't need much of anything else. Sous vide would probably be best but out of my budget. Pastrami on rye use to reheat their pastrami that way before serving.

I can set my oven to 55C so I put the steak in a ziplock using water displacement & sucking out the last bit of air with a straw.

I have a glass pyrex dish & a thermometer so get the water to 60C by letting water forom the kettle to cool then pop the seasoned steak into the water & then into the oven for an hour, remove then a very fierce reverse sear & you're done.

You don't even need to rest it.

Worth the aggro with steak as good as yours.

  4. A bit of wait time on food this evening which was to be expected on the grand re-opening.

I'm guessing that the building has some kind of preservation order on it as they basically kept the interiors exactly the same.

Quite a mean feat to completely copy the old restaurant layout including decor, furniture & kitchen but they managed it somehow, took the 4 months but they did it.

There was no foie gras or lobster on the menu when I finally got a seat but I still had an excellent meal.

If that tyre company ever manage to get down here then no doubt they will be issuing their first ever 4 star rating

2250 per kilo, actully they are actually 150 days aged then shrink raped. They also have 120 aged but there is a noticeable taste difference so I don't buy them. With the 150 after they mark them down it works out so a 12oz is 400 baht.

    How do you cook it?

I tried my first sous vide recently to great sucess

Never tried them but had a really good lion there before.

When it comes to steaks here I only buy the 160 day dry aged Australian ribeyes from Central and cook them myself. They go on sale from time to time.

    160 days?

    Nearly half a year.

    Are you sure?

    How much is it?

  7. I need a few applicances for the house & wonder if Megahomes is a better bet than Numchai.

At least you can visit Numchai now the tunnel's been finished.

    Any opinions gratefully received

  8. OMG was ok when I had one but quite small.

Pleasant in the mouth but not much flavour.

Hemingways does a decent enough burger being a good size with decent flavour but I thing the mince was over worked.

I try to make my own for the most part although I was in Friendship a few days ago & mince round was 350/kg while you could but round steak for 315/kg.

It made no sense to me at all.

I like to mix in some pork fat for flavour in the raw mix.

Their burger buns are not bad either.

  9. Thanks for those Sheryl.

I'll keep swinging until we get somewhere.

I'm trying to convince my other half but we have other small children in school so not so easy to just hop a plane anymore.

I'm trying to set something up for March/April when the main school hols are on

  10. You're correct about the MRI on a baby because he would have to be injected with a dye & there is a chance of a reaction plus he'd have to be sedated.

We're going get a CT scan instead.

Singapore was a blow out (an expensive one at that).

Prof Wasant is a Downs specialist & the other two doctors are not returning my emails.

I've emailed the university but no luck there either.

I've emailed the Genetic Society of Thailand to no avail.

I've also emailed Yale Medical mag to see if they'll hook me up with Dr Suphapeetiporn as they did a piece on her a good few years ago.

I've emailed the Siriraj & asked if they had any ACH specialists but they don't & instead recommended that I go to see the doctor that we saw in the first place & in whom we were so disappointed.

We're getting less guidance for him than we did for previous healthy children.

    It's very very frustrating.

I am 31 and living here and yes like some other member said just look around a bit and maybe you can find some friends my age.

As for me I am not interested as you are not single...

Not too forward looking either kk.

I used to date a Ukrainian girl in London who was bi.

She was lovely & told me that the best looking girls in her opinion were Estonian.

I'd fair wager that Nellaa is just very sociable & has some stunning mates.

Birds of a feather & all that.
