  1. A lot of people double park when delivering or dropping off stuff including buses because most available kerb is taken up with motorbike rentals.

Also a lot of 7/11s are on corners & have minimal stockrooms so have constant little deliveries.

It's wonder the road system works at all but the massive coaches spewing out black clouds of fumes as the tear down the small sois driven by seeming untrained drivers who don't know how to use their clutch are the ones that really get my goat & more especially when they park up of an evening to clean out their coaches dumping the rubbish anywhere whilst thinking that everyone within 100 yards wants to listen to their choice of music played at ear-spitting levels

  2. Just to update this post but I've used eurodesign who are on the same road now near the fruit & veg market as you drive to the Suk.

Bring a heavy reinforced wallet but the design standards & work are excellent.

They use treated board with any timber laminate that you may want along with many other finishes in basically any colour that you may desire.

They have Thai staff fluent in English who are overseen by European management who are multi-lingual.

Basically an ex-pat company that's been around a while that offers guarantees.

  3. quite surprised about how many Irish lads are convinced that their man will do the job & do it in style.

MV has been out of the game for two years which really is the only underlining issue IMO.

He's beaten the cream & done it consistently whereas McG has not although if you talk to lads under the age of 30 they seem oblivious to these facts.

I'm going for the full English breatfast this morning as the full Irish might well be a plate of toast

  4. I said when this 'fight' was announced that I would not watch it but it's kind of got under my skin so I'm looking forward to a nice slap up Sunday morning fry at Hemingways in Jomtien & try to stay off the sauce excluding HP of course.

I can't see McG beating someone of Mayweather's undeniable pedigree but there may well be some surprises.

It can't be long before we get Rocky v The Rock, can it? ;)

Is this the Thai place that is sort of half way along a Soi connecting two major Soi's?

If so, then everyone seems to rave about it.

    That's the one btw 4 & 5 but very close to 4.

Can get very very busy but only open during the day .

  6. I was in there last night for another great meal & they told me that they were closing as of today for a complete refurb & expect to open again in 2 months.

Looking forward to seeing the new place & hopefully they'll sort those loos out.

I will really miss the place as I don't know one anyway near as good in town especially with those prices.

That would be 4% not o.4% but otherwise I agree with you.  I was in Pattaya last month and in and around must have been thousands (no exaggeration of Chinese tour buses).   What sports were any of them involved in.  I was there for scuba diving, archery and martial arts.  I came across lots of nationalities but not a single Chinese involved in any of those.

I think Rugby is their forte as they seem to win the scrums at the breakfast buffets in most places

  8. A long holiday weekend for most schools so I had a look to see if there were any films that I could bring my children to see & it's the same cartoon that's already being shown for the last 2-3 weeks.

They really are missing a trick with a least a 1/3 of the screens in town showing the same films just at different times.

I'd love to bring them to see the likes of Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Charlie & the Chocolate Factory on the big screen.

They often show re-runs of old films in both the US & UK during the school hols because they actually make money.

  9. Where is the best place in town for a special breakfast?

I'm not really interested in the big blowout Irish/English style places but more like the big buffet style places with fruit juice stations, eggs to order, thai dishes, various freshly baked breads & danishs with proper fresh coffee etc.

I had a great one at Holiday Inn & the Marriot Rayong is tremendous.

They're far from cheap but I what to bring the family out this weekend for a morning treat & let the missus have a break from the kitchen.

I have 3 nippers below 6 so would want somewhere with a quite corner so as not to disturb other 'breakfasteers'

Talking of marketable bar themes, do you think a "Pattaya Irish Dive Bar" in New York would have the same success as a "New York Irish Dive bar" in Pattaya?

Haha, maybe back before they cleaned it up as it would be in violation of most city codes but what a great idea.

If you get to LA then try a place called Smogcutter near Silverlakes a few blocks off Santa Monica Blvd.

It's run by a could of very rude Thai girls with excellent use of colourful language who take over the karaoke when drunk & throw people out for not buying enough drinks.

Brilliant gaff & the nearest that I got to a Pattaya style bar in the US
