US Expat in Thailand Faces 10 Years for Threatening US Senator

True in a sense in the U.S. prior to 9/11 they left security up to the airline which majority were contracted out to firms that paid minimum wage and had minimum standards. Insecure! What person what country wouldn't be if 9/11 had happened to them. Look at England prior had cameras everywhere due to their own domestic terroristic behavior. With so many holes in the airline system there were really no so called expects as Airline business slowed layoffs came many of the country TSA came from former airline management or front line airline agents who were familiar with the airport laid outs. Thousand of deaths, senseless war to try to prevent another attack there are no real answer so people come up with rules sometime senseless on the surface to make sure if there is even a 1% chance it can happen that crazy rule is there. Then you have people in power who shouldn't to get revenge use a needed list like the no fly to make like hard on their opponents like they did with Tusi Gabbard,! Preventing another attacked a whole new expensive department was created HomeLand Security which has costed tax payers billions if not trillions. If Musk looked into that department will find massive abuse and waste in spending too. Government everywhere in general can't run anything! Insecure makes people do things they normally wouldn't. -

1 baht street water machines - do they have filters?
thailand49 replied to scubascuba3's topic in General Topics
I've had one for over 15 years allow to service the first thereafter I did some research and did it myself. I went to look for shops that sold he equipment and replacements. Some machines the filters or outside majority are in the inside. In general, you have a Carbon, Risen, Mircon, then the filter that do the reverse osmosis. Years ago, I read an article, the government standard said every two months but didn't specify which filter or all need to be replace. If replacing all it makes no sense since the cost exceeds profit. Replacing all cost was 3000 baht, years now I've found shops total filter replacement 1600 baht. You will find some with stickers at top when they were serviced but that is rear, many machines are just dirty from the outside owners don't take the time to even wipe them down. Thais are funny they think the newer the machine the cleaner the water. I once had to call for service to replace a motor the service guy said your machine is old should replace it once he got it up running commented you water is really cleaned! In the beginning being the only one in the area my better half was making a killing, 6-7 baht a month. Each month I monitor the filter and examine them then read the more water you sell the more often makes sense but the main filter is to replace the Mircon 50, these are very cheap like 50 baht which today I change each month regardless. The rest based on the volume I sell it has come down to every 6 months. There is a clue as to when, every machine has a blue vent pipe that water comes out, if filter isn't changed or starts to clog more water will start to run out of this pipe if still not change it will back up and start to leak from the inside. This is a clear sign for me at least to stay away! Otherwise it is a crab shoot! But they are cheap! -

Weak Baht Fails to Spark Tourism Boom, Safety Concerns Prevail
thailand49 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nothing to do with Tariff! Problem this government, all previous Government and future government, care less about the country or it people. They all only care about maintaining the status quo which is continue the system of serve me first get rich first mentality doesn't matter who is in charge. It is all smoke and mirror! I said it years past when the more the Chinese come the more they will know it isn't the land of smile but just a cheap location full of scams not by the people but the leaders.🤣 -
Take Trump name out of the equation now is it right or wrong! If you understand the man his form of " Art of the deal " he will shoot for the sky that is his approach as to when he talks! but all he wants and anyone wants is meet him at the middle. Even before his re-election it was noted last time what Thailand was doing, they were already reaching the red line which they are far over now! prior and still doing it and I have lots of family in China doing business, many companies with ties to Thailand would ship their goods to Thailand have it repackage as Thai to avoid the tariffs, I don't care who is President, this should have been down long long ago, there is pain but the buck stops now. Lets be reasonable and fair.

Oh yea! The good old Sap Sei Kei ( 14K ) Triad from Hong Kong alive and well in Thailand with their open invitation. They been here for a long time now they are growing and growing just wait until the gambling is official. 🤑 -
Because it is spread out over the world if one lives or understand the leaders of this country it will slowly made to go away. The way it went down so easily none of us are experts but it smells of corruption in general with corners cut passing of brown envelopes all around. The cover up will be the government smoke and mirror prevent loss of face embrassessment to the nation image they will somehow funnel money to the builder to get it rebuilt when that happens brag about the success so tourist will keep on coming and continue their saying " Land of Smile " truth is those who have suffer will get nothing. If the collaspe of the twin towers 9/11, aftermath is the cancer cause from the smoke and dust money wise just as great in cost of rebuilding videos I see nothing of rescue worker covering up.

US Revokes 300 Student Visas in Crackdown on Campus Protests
thailand49 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Let's be clear the article doesn't! As Rubio noted if you aren't applying as a student but to demontrate of course the Visa shouldnt be granted. If the student has been granted studying now caught up in a protest, if protest is legal, peaceful, and not inciting violence with speech of hate intimidation, harassment whether citizen or not should be afforded the first Amendment. But if one steps over the line break the law citizen or not should be arrested, charged if found guilty by our system if not a citizen yes should be expelled. I believe if these are the circumstances the Supreme court will rule properly. I believe in the system and please don't say the courts are stacked if I'm correct.🙃 -

Curious, was it purchased with your money? It is in her name " brother till now has lived there with his wife and son " your guess if right bad credit use to be in his name? was put into her name which is normal Thailand so creditor can't get to it. I have a friend currently sorting out his mess, his wife I happily note Ex now! put everything she stole in her son name so creditors can't get to the assets since she is always in bankruptc.... In my opinion an Estate Agent isn't really necessary, There is much to your story that is missing in my opinion. This is what many Thai mother do is helping, sure all kids need to grow up but what type of rent is she missing out on from a property worth 1 million baht! at that price tops a studio or one bedroom.
