  1. Nai Yang often has a good break off the reef near National Park, and Robbo always surfed down the southern end of Nai Yang bay before he headed off a while ago.

He often complained of the aerialists though.

Robbo shaped some great boards over the yeats and i totaly agree re the kite surfers.
  2. starting to pick up here in Kamala but still not that good

    next month!!

I remember about 4 or 5 yrs ago had one of the best surfs I've had here at Kamala, big day, overcast and occasionally raining, I think there was 2 others out at the north end, getting rides from way out the back almost finishing in the middle of the bay, have had a few similar days at Kata Noi.

  3. Good waves at haad sai kaew and natai near the new coral hotel but i'm no pro only a old windsurfer.

Did you try natai phang nga?

Last time was about 6yrs ago, it was ok but not much shape, closing out to much unfortunately, maybe worth a road trip in a month or 2.

  4. Quite a few boards out last Sunday at Kata.

I try to steer clear of Kata Yai these days, so many kooks running people over and dropping in!

  5. Couldn't find the old one.

Was at Nai Harn yesterday, couldn't help but laugh while watching what I guess where Eastern Europeans and Chinese standing right in the impact zone of the shore break during the high, 2 to 3 foot beach brake was absolutely smashing them and quite a few bikini tops getting re-arranged!

Was surfable on the change of tide the day before but the shore lines quite steep and banks haven't formed up properly yet.

Anyone checked any other breaks in the last few days?

  6. Ive just done the same run from Phuket for a non O marriage multiple entry.

Flew and mini bused with Nok air.

Bkk to Nakhon Phanom, mini bus (very comfortable) to the bridge, taxi or tuk tuk over the bridge to Savan.

DONT STAY AT SAVANVAGAS, its a rip off, Daosavanh resort's nice or Hoongthip hotel's ok.

Grab a bottle of water an umbrella and get to the consulate in Savannakhet about an hour early, the sign says it opens at 0830 but It doesn't really open until 0900 or just after.

Once the gate opens your'l go to a window and hand over your docs and money (5000 for multi-entry, I think it said 2000 for single), they'l give you a numbered slip of paper.

When you go to pick up your visa the following day get the an hour early, take a bottle of water and umbrella just i case.

As the flight to BKK from Nakhon Phanom is 12 noon daily I stayed at the night at the Ploy Palace hotel in Mukdahan(the Nok air mini bus for the return to Nakhon Phanom stops there for a pick up at 0915 each morning)

  7. You apply from 9 am to 11 am. Pickup the next afternoon at 2 pm.

You flight plans give you plenty of time to get the visa.

This topic has a lot info. The most up to date will be the last few pages. Worry-Free Non-O-Visa Savannakhet

I have seen mostly complaints about Savan Vegas.

Got my new non o marriage visa no probs, all's the same re paper work as previously stated.

Savanvagas is absolute crap, stayed 1 night then went to Daosavanh resort, much better.

  10. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> what really and solely distinguishes you from the Royal Thai Police then is the fact that you can speak another language.

The fact that they aren't Thais mainly.

A very good friend of ours is a Thai police officer and she's fluent in 3 languages.
