  1. Thais and electricity along with driving are not good mixers.

Those are my only 2 complaints about living here. But I can drive competitively and have been able to avoid them for 36 years and I can fix their electrical problems to my satisfaction.

The electrical problems have been a challenge but I do see the end of the tunnel.

90% of Thais have no idea what electricity is and pronounce it "electric city"

    ^^What an intelligent comment.

  2. Its not like that everywhere though, you either like it or you dont, just the way it is here and if its the worst thing that happens to someone all day then it hasnt really been to baf a day all things considered.

The first ambulance of the day goes by...........

Heard that one already at 8 this morning.

I'm back from a ride on the bike with the kid and his nephew. Went to Chalong, Kata, Rawai. All in all enjoyable, not as much powder, cold water and coloured water as in previous years. Home now and won't go out again, from now on people will start to get drunk and it will IMO be less pleasant.

Same, rode around Chalong and Rawai, the little bloke had a ball, plenty of respect and common sense shown by all, good fun, young fella said he was tired about 1330 so that's us done and dusted with Sonkran for another year, Lunch and a siesta now.

Been pissing down in Chalong since 8.25.
The draught is broken big time.
lightning getting a bit close, but no power cuts here yet.

Not a bad drop but definitely wouldn't rate it as pissing down where we are in Chalong.

Enough came down here to nearly top up the pool (close to Big Buddha Road)

About 15 minutes after saying the lightening was getting close, our house was hit!
    Fried my 55" Panasonic!

    FERK!!!

That sucks. I've had it happen from a direct strike and lost a lot of stuff. Close to 500k damage to TV's, cctv and 3 water heaters. All the light switches on the walls were fried stuck.

    Ouch...

Sorry to hear that, good excuse to get a new big tv for the footy season though.

  8. Went to 'Bake' on Chao Fa just near Wat Chalong, remembered pretty quick why we stopped eating breky there, the food is crap, poached eggs were like water and served on some toasted brown bread that was saturated with water, 1 piece of bacon,

Also ordered a Lime soda,it never appeared but was on the bill,

  9. Just saw this, It'll be strange to not have the great mans comments on all things cricket (mainly Aus of course), a 100% legend and he's up there with the Don keeping a close eye on our return to form in the game.

RIP old mate, I'll raise a glass to you.

Thank you. So you think maybe I should find a Thai person willing to come with me? 1st of all I need to find out where he is. I know he was taken to Phuket town police station where the court is on Wednesday morning so hopefully I could have someone call them to ask if he is there or has been transferred to a prison. I'm going out of my mind thinking about it all. I really want to help him and make sure he is ok. I have money to help too if needed.

With the last sentence I am pretty sure he/they have found you by now.

    What??

Buy gold, wear it home and exchange it for cash in the us. Gold is king at the end of the day.

But not Thai gold. Almost worthless back in the USA.

    Seriously?

Otherwise, I'll have to kiss my husband goodbye and in back to UK, where I have absolutely nothing. 0.
Who said that a woman on the street will with not even appropriate closing for the season will be offered a good job? By the time I reach UK, it will be only me with nothing but a suitcase of summer wear. In this economy? I have already sold everything and at my age I can not even sell myself.

I was almost believing this until I read the above. "In the economy"

London is booming with jobs and particularly more if you speak with an Eastern European accent. Why else is 1 in 3 in London a foreigner? Ok, yes many enjoy a benefit lifestyle but the huge majority are working hard.

Now if there is any truth in this; go back there and work. I've a wife and two kids here, and if things are slow for me here I have to go. I don't like it as leaving my kids crying children at the airport rips out your soul, but sometimes there isn't a choice! Have food and a decent life with education for the kids, or live in poverty. It's a small price to pay. Maybe this year I may have to go again.

Don't get destroyed by self doubt and pity, yes life is hard for us all sometimes but be strong. Get out there and make the decision... Go and make your life better!

She says she's more than willing to meet up and verify her situation,
