  1. Deutschland.83 A German Tv series about East Germany and their spies in the west .

1st episode seems very engrossing .

Could be the best around at the moment.

    Sounds worth a shot.

  2. The Interceptor on BBC is shaping up really nicely, gritty action drama about an undercover police unit trying to pinpoint the individuals at the top of the chain of drug gangs. 3 episodes in - definitely worth a watch.

Getting into this 1, good show so far.

  3. Pretty amusing thread. I know a muslim guy in Rawai who has a pet potbelly pig, but he doesn't like my dog.

But we need to get to the crux of the problem, firstly, is it the potbelly pig or the muslim owner who doesn't like your dog?

This will be an important piece of info once this thread hits 1000 posts!!!

  4. They will never call you. At Chevrolet I have been waiting months, and then I found out they sold my parts to someone else. At Toyota I ordered an English Manual for my new car, "yes we will call you". After three months I went there, and - oh wonder - I picked it up. At Kawasaki I had problems with the carburettor and they ordered some spare part. They never called me, but after the usual 3 months, I went there and the stuff had arrived. It is not just about vehicles, it is the same about HiFi equipment, computer stuff or whatever. Just drop in regularly and ask them, nerve them, push them, or for your peace of mind just forget it.

But I like your idea about the receptionist thumbsup.gif

I forgot: SsangYong service is even worse than all the ones mentioned above. bah.gif

Isuzu are good, they always call to remind us that the cars service's will be due in the next few days

  5. I would not use a wireless set-up.

To much problems and not reliable.

Better to invest one time in installing cables for your cameras.

Also i use a digital recorder (with 12 cameras in and around my house) connected to my network so i have access to the system worldwide.

One of the best investments i did.

I would agree with above. Wireless cameras use far too much bandwidth and if you plan to also use your internet connection for browsing then expect problem. Might work with a single camera depending on your connection speeds. A few years back I tried a single wifi camera and ended up ditching it and bought a wired up CCTV system. Perhaps technology is better now ?

We're wanting to use HD cameras so have since found out that's it's better to get them hard wired (better speed) rather than wireless for such a set up.

All IP based so we can view 24/7 on the smartphone/comp and tablets.

Thank for all the reply's so far, much appreciated.

  6. Can anyone recommend a company they've dealt with?

Was thinking of an P2P IP setup but also wondering how good a wireless set may be, does it use a large amount of bandwidth?

    Any answers much appreciated,

    Cheers

  7. Only problem with SCB is that their ATM cards are the card of choice for scanning scammers.

Touch wood haven't had that problem...........so far!!

But yeah your correct, was a spate of that but seems to have quietened down a bit, fingers crossed.

  8. It would be nice to also hear reports about successfully getting internet banking on a tourist visa. I've been a good customer with BKK Bank for years but they wont give me internet banking. Krungsri did, with the help of my land lord.

Have been with SCB for years after leaving Kasikorn (Thai Farmers) due to problems with them, have had internet banking with SCB for a long time and no problems.

  9. I know Cha-am beach very well. I've never ever seen a chair or umbrella on the beach in 19 years. The locals sit under the tree line and buy snacks and drinks from the carts along the roadside or shops just on the other side of the road. This 'report' makes no sense to me.

Sounds like your getting it confused with another beach.

  10. It seems like you have an additional staff overhead for a lifeguard to watch over the kids.

I know you mention that the lease is all sorted, but can you tell me how long is the lease? Is it a lease on the existing business or a lease on the land itself?

You could do more than just pedalos with a lake:

    - Fishing

    - some sort of shooting fake ducks (o real ones!) - Thais love to shoot something/someone...

    - Floating market for the Chinese tourists

Yeah, pedalos aren't a good idea, just look at the old and broken ones floating around the lake at Nai Harn.

  11. Just having a lake I would imagine is a good selling point though.

Until a kid drowns while the supervisor is busy on their phone.

You wanted feedback, OP. All this supervision of young kids really isn't a good idea. In fact, it's bonkers.

Go back a step and consider a nice restaurant on the lake without the additional hassle.

    What a bizarre comment

  12. I'll stick only to the question asked in the first post.

Yes, when my daughter was younger we'd often look for restaurants with something for kids to play with. Even now at nearly ten, she and her friends will go to a playground if there's one, even if the toys and rides are for kids half her age.

Going back a while the Green Man in Chalong was a good example, even though their toys were well past their sell-by date even then. Pretty sure they won't have been updated since my last visit. This applies to many places where kids' rides are somewhat dated and sometimes dangerous.

Something like you are suggesting would, I'm sure, prove very popular. Good luck if you go ahead.

We have a 6yr old and he'd love it and so would we, being supervised is a great idea, go for it.

PS, A definite NO from me to the computer game idea, stuff that get's them running around/exercising’s the go, get them nice and tiered so when you get home from dinner they’re ready for sleep!!
