  1. I've got hooked to a reality show, "Full throttle saloon", it's one of the big bars that only operate during bike week at Sturgis.

  2. Got the SMS from AIS today, changed my phone (Samsung S5) from a 3G setting to 4G and was no different apart from the actual phone bars indicating the phones signal strength had only 1 when in 4G mode, changed it back to 3G and had full signal strength again.

  3. Just back from Nakita's Rawai with some take-away fish & chips, for the second time in 2 weeks the chips are beyond disgusting, hollow and hard bulk bought crap from SC or the likes.

Been getting F&C take-away's from there for years and telling people it's a good place to eat...will now be doing the opposite, it's well and truly of the list of good restaurants IMO.

Have you tried the fish n chips or wedges (just like big chips) at Cookies in Farang Paradise. I cannot find any better than them at present. Actually his whole range is quite good.

Will give it a go, cheers.

  5. they are trying to scam you...

and you wish, pray, beg, hope, gravel that they let you into the country to get scammed more...

    come again..

    next time bring more money

Who's being scammed by writing their home/hotel address?

he is, as soon as its signed hes already buying a house for his recent honey. Easier to blame the immigration.

    Ok, whatever you recon.

  6. I do not understand. The entry form merely asks for an address in Thailand. Why does it have to be a hotel? For the last 30 years I have always declared the house in Nong Hoy which we bought when we married. I have only once had any comment on this when any Immigration Officer at Chiang Mai Airport told my wife that she was a lucky woman.

It doesn't HAVE to be a hotel address.

  7. It's a requirement , may as well always fill it in or suffer the possible inconveniences!

Note that it says "address in Thailand," not "hotel address." One can stay at a private address, like one's Thai wife's family, in which case there is obviously no hotel address required. .

That's right, as long as there's an address there all's normally good,

  8. Jimi007 I agree that immigration at Phuket Airport is pretty horrible with all the scams going on for years.

What I don't understand from your post is why you had to pick up your bags from the international terminal when coming via domestic flight and having cleared immigration and customs already in BKK.

BTW I came two days ago and didn't have any issue with having to show a hotel booking (I rent a house and specify the address on the arrival card).

I think the most likely scenario is that some tourists didn't have a booking and didn't know what to put in the address field on the card so the officer gave them a bit of a hard time.

    It's very common actualy.

  9. Jericho episode 1 now out.

Jericho is a period drama series created and written by Steve Thompson and directed by Paul Whittington. The eight-part series premiered on ITV on 7 January 2016.

It is set in the fictional town of Jericho, a shanty town in the Yorkshire Dalesthat springs up around the construction of a railway viaduct in the 1870s. The series imagines the story of the building of the Ribblehead Viaduct, which is renamed the Culverdale Viaduct in the show.

Scenes were shot around Huddersfield, specifically Golcar, at the Colne Valley Museum, and on the moors above Meltham. The main setting for the shanty town was Rockingstone Quarry

Anyone tried the little Mexican place just near the north end of the lake at Nai Harn?

Also some other little places near it that looked quite busy on sunday arvo.

Can't beat Blue Fin for the tacos and the fresh salsa.

    Wheres Blue Fin?
Thaina road, kata center (road at traffic lights at PTT station).

About half way along Thaina Rd, right side (from light), not far past Dr Cusak's surgery.

Is Blue Fin mex still going?

  11. ok, not a tv show, a movie, but check out the Big Short, wow, what a movie, i never thought i could be so entertained learning about synthetic CDOs. makes you want to go out and kick a banker, awesome movie, best of the year.

Nope. The movie is not entertaining. It's done in the style of mixing tv-series, movies and reality tv-shows. Generally just a confusing mix of everything.

I just browsed the movie, but the general idea, I suppose was to show that people are like flock of birds, who follow anyone who shows leadership. People are stupid and there are others who are willing to abuse others. Naivety gone.

No offence but it sounds like you didnt get what it was about.

I thought it was a really good movie.
