Schools will be closed on Thursday(13th) and Friday(14th) d/t the games, the Phuket government says its to ease traffic congestion!

School has been out Monday and Tuesday due to a Foot and mouth disease outbreak. Then the governor chose to close the schools to clean up the outbreak and make up the crowds at the games and alleviate traffic that schools cause.

    Sent from my LG-D858

Which school was closed on Monday & Tuesday?

  2. Got a bottle of Three Oaks apple cider on the go, not to bad but have tasted a lot better.

Still got a can of Thatchers Gold, John Kepplers plus a bottle of Bruntys to try....mmmmm...happy days!

    Unfortunately Patong has out-priced itself.

    http://www.pintprice.com

You will be shocked at the price difference of many other Asian countries which are far cheaper.

Great site , but I was a bit shocked at how much for a pint at Willywanger these days!

The last time I was there it was half that price!

    Willywanger, Australia

Lager in Willywanger is $0.15 AUD

I think that site is well out of date.

£3 for a pint of lager in Pootong. In your dreams.

    Wooooshh.....

Chalong is rocking now! This is the loudest storm of the season.

How are the waves at the beaches?

Steady with a bit of heavy in Chalong for the past few hours.

Don't go over the hill to toy town to often but am going tonight to watch the F1 at a mates bar, fingers crossed it throws it down all night over there = FA people.

Was at Nai Harn yesterday and it was very small.

  6. Sure Chainsaw, when you don't throw bad language out at them or flip them the bird, they probably (mistakenly) took you to be an o.k. sort of bloke.

You know me Grumpy, always sweetness and light.

"Flip the bird"? You colonials have such a quaint vocabulary! thumbsup.gif

"Flip the bird" isnt one of our sayings, Im pretty sure its American.

To be reasonable that's obviously a crowd watching a surf sporting event of some kind.

Note the lack of swimmers immediately in front.

OOPs someone beat me to it! alt=rolleyes.gif>

Check out this beach, http://news.china.com.au/2014/03/%E5%A6%82%E6%9E%9C%E4%BD%A0%E4%B9%9F%E8%BF%99%E6%A0%B7%EF%BC%8C-%E4%BD%A0%E5%B0%B1%E6%98%AF%E5%9C%B0%E9%81%93%E7%9A%84%E6%BE%B3%E6%B4%B2%E4%BA%BA%E4%BA%86/,.... world famous Bondi Beach Australia, complete with swimmers.... those who say you MUST have chair and umbrella, I suggest you look very close at what is NOT there, except a few umbrellas that people have brought themselves. If us Aussies can do it, I am sure the rest can. Oh, Bondi beach is frequented by 1000's of foreign tourists every year, and NONE complain, I guess Phuket seems to attract the whingers.

Have the toast in the toaster and the vegimite ready to go after seeing that pic...mmmm

Even regular seating in thai movie houses is a great luxury experience.

The upper rows directly below the couches in the back row.

the first class showing is a different time to the English showing so it must be a different theater, not just better seats in the same one

Different theater but same size screen as the normal ones

  9. Big lazy boy type recliners, blanket, pop corn & drinks delivered to you, same screen, I think from memory its about 500b.

Not for some but we love using it occasionally, seats are so comfy it's sometimes hard not to fall asleep!

Now I want to try a real cider. I've never tasted one before. What's the best available in Thailand at any price?

There will be disagreements on this but a number of bars sell Stowford Press on draught, which is not bad. There are a few cans and bottles from the UK but try Magners Irish Cider; this is the drink that started the cider surge in England.

Neither of these are as good as the real stuff available in the UK but are very drinkable.

Anyone tried the Normandy cider available in Wine Connection?

Not yet but definitely will stop in and grab a bottle/can and give a go, love trying different ciders, thanks for the heads up.

  11. If you use an agent you'l never win the lottery, your sala will more than likely burn down on the 27/12/2014 and you may well be solely responsible for the end of the world....

  12. Yet again we're looking for a decent pest control service that will actually do as promised on the dates agreed on.

Over the years we must have used 5 or 6 different company's so I'm after any recommendations (we're in Chalong)

    Cheers in advance.

  13. The dam over near Phunaka golf course broke again, wasn't much rain at all but the klongs & roads being flooded here(Chalong) is due to the busted dam.
