Samsung S5 for b17190 alt=unsure.png> , maybe a Chinese knockoff, still asking b23800 in the shops.

If it is for sale at Lazada for that price, I would trust the one at Lazada to be the real deal. No matter that the shops are asking more. For specialized products a shop will quite often ask/need a higher margin than other products or shops with a higher turnover will require.

Is everything on Lazada new or do they sell 2nd hand goods as well?

Tuk tuks and taxis had Phuket by the balls. There was simply no control of them. If you wanted transportation on the island you had to use them at ridiculous rates. They parked where ever they wanted to and if you dare take one of their places they chased you off. Walking out of Phuket airport was a nightmare of harassment. If a friend came to your hotel to pick you up, these guys would come over and hassle him for taking business from them.

The Taxi mafia has been put in it's place. They still dominate transportation on the island but everything is better.

There is room for improvement. There should be a reliable public transportation system on Phuket. That is now a possibility where in the past that would have been impossible with these taxi thugs.

How has this improved? I keep reading about the taxi meter stand at the airport, but it's always been there. Only now, the prices have increased. I was recently on Penang and watched as the Rapid Buses wizzed passed at all hours of the day and night, together with taxis actually cruising for custom. If Penang Island can do this, why on earth not Phuket? Those little chicken buses brimming with Burmans showing up hourly, if you're lucky, and stopping around 5 pm are a downright embarrassment on this, haha, 'world renowned holiday destination'.

    What?

majority of local thais with money don't put their young kids in international schools due they don't want their kids to mixed with western ideas aka keep their thai identity then of course having their kids mix with luk krung with a mother as bar girl is big no no, then later send them overseas to study when they +18..

i think you're doing a smart choice here!

Sorry but i don't agree with that at all and see the proof of it twice a day Monday to Friday.

  6. My little bloke (5yrs) goes to Kajonkiet in Kathu, not the 100% international which is the one higher up on the hill, the one he attends is 80% English curriculum and 20% Thai, he's absolutely powering ahead and enjoys it very much, the 1st term was about 60 odd thou and then on it's 51 thou a term.

The 100% inter Kajonkiet is aimed at students that will not be spending the majority of their academic life in Thailand.

We live in Chalong and it takes me about 25/30mins to get their each day.

He starts at 0830 and finishes at 1630.

  7. I got a large single string angry bird kite for the young fella online from a place in Singapore a year ago, took 4 days to arrive at the door. Dont have the address anymore sorry but try google, kite, singapore.

Not sure if this should go on another topic but I have been meaning to ask about the construction on the road from Honda dealer through to Kathu. To me it is starting to look like a large mosque.

Been wondering that to, does look very mosque'ish

I booked a hotel for this upcoming high season. Upon confirmation, I was also sent this message:...

Yes, that is the rather-expensive Fast-Track service offered by one of the VIP lounges at the airport. It's an official service which probably has few customers!

You can use it with your Priority pass card and some others.

The odd time I have been approached and it is a very few times, they ask I say no and they continue on. Never once been " Stalked " by any of them. They are doing a job and know who is going to say yes and who isn't very quickly. Those that don't never last more than a few days

    How do you know that?

Is it just me? I have never been approached by a timeshare tout.

You must be the same as me. Dress like a bum. One glance and they figure I'm just too poor.

I guess I'm in the same group then, have never been approached.
