  1. my friends wife has worked in a bank for the past 10 years, first 8 years on a rolling one year contract plus had to take a exam each year to get the next one year contract...last 2 years passed more exams and is now full time...now she deals with running the bank, own office etc....not forgetting the 100s of extra hours she has done over the years plus the weekends away attending bank meetings plus the annual sports days which shes hasnt been paid a single baht..her current wage is 13,000 bht a month............she currently spends more on petrol and make-up getting to and from work and looking smart than her 13,000 bht a month wage........good job shes married to my friend a good lad from sunny blackpool..............

If she is running the bank and her salary is 13 k baht then she probably carries a broom while running. Your figures are 15 years old.

  2. happyAA since you have promoted this website across several threads recently, can you elaborate a bit more on how it has worked out for you? you said you reckon it has been worthwhile. I understand Renauds basic low-cap, high dividend strategy, but how have returns played out for you? Are you holding these positions he recommends long term? How many years exactly have you been a member?

I had the same thoughts last night, sounds just like pumping their services. Usually those things come up after a nice run in order to lure new "clients" into their service chain.

  3. The baht has remained strong during all the crises, internally and externally.

    oh yes.

    post-17813-0-15541900-1346915385_thumb.j

So did I read this right since january 2010 the baht has relatively remainded the same. Well other countries around the world have seen their currencies take a beating? That is over 2 1/2 years when the world has been going the worst financial crises of modern time.

First of all don't take my comments as abusive as I guess you are Thai.

There was/is a regional shift in economic flow and currency tendencies which is fundamentally very justified in my opinion. Nevertheless Thailand in particular is in no way becoming a major player in Asia nor will it's currency. See it like this - there is a leaf in the lake and suddenly lake becomes river, guess who the leaf is and how much it can influence changing or leading the stream.

  4. Thanks for the questions Naam. I shall try to answer each one in order of their asking position.

I feel to give facts opens discussion for arguement. I donot wish to defend the Thai baht becoming the currency of choice in Asia . I will simply state, many people here appear to be able to find facts to support their popular ideas,so let these same people research the reality of why Thailand is ripe to take this position .

Second question is yes Asian nations do trade . With Europe and the rest of the world in their financial crises,Asia will be forced to do the largest portion of their trade in Asia. While doing this they will want a common strong currency to use. The Thai baht is their only choice.

i hope you don't mind that i [not so] humbly beg to differ? wink.png

Well, he might have a point in case Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia leave the map joining Atlantis. If just takes a few miracles but never say nevertongue.png

  5. If any currency is going to be strongly used in southeast asia for trade it will be the Thai baht. If you have read many of my posts you will know I am a firm believer that Thailand will have the currency most attractive for this. This will even become more desirable for other asian nations in the near future to maintain trade. Trade within Asian ciuntries will become necessary because of world economic crises. Asia will localize and use the Thai baht as the currency for trade.

lol - you really made my day with that statement but I agree Thailand is an attractive cuntry.

  6. Man, how many hours of whining you waste for your replies here. Some teens on their motorbikes had some fun with you.

Teens do things like this, scaring people. You are the perfect victim.

And what you want to do to avoid simular situations? Wearing a camera on helmet, take photos?

The eastern roads are full of these little moslem punks, especially at school holidays, bad but harmless idiots. I ride my bike there at least three times a week, I had a lot of this "situations".

Be a sportsman, not a forum whiner!

Count my posts and you will probably find I waste less hours here than the average. Now Wikinger or is it Viking! This is not waste of time, this is information. If you have had a "lot of this situations" then that is information for anyone else using that area for training and to be more plain a sign of more youths without work or school to attend and autorithies unable to cope with an increased unemployment rate and increased gang/crime activity by youths.Call it whining if you prefer but the fact is that the local culture of not "speak out, offend, confront or report incidences makes the opposite to the intention of being "silent", it makes the daily life for locals and foreigners more unsafe and soon any activity outdoor will be unsafe unless your locked in a club or with Police escort when bicycling.

I think your report is very useful and appreciated. The incident definitely cannot to be described as normal behavior if a group of local youths circle around you on their mbs for 5 minutes and as per your description did not signal a friendly approach.

Not easy to understand how dumb some posters here react on informative and helpful postings. Too many heros like Wikinger and FritsSikkink on the island, hehehe.

If you call somebody a hero when he doesn't shit himself when somebody gives him a strange look, then i must be one.

By most standards i am not, just a normal guy.

So far I remember it wasn't some body but 7 bodies and yeah you're my hereo.

  7. ask your question on google and i'm sure you will find some technical advise....

well I did before posting believe it or not....

    @somtam,

sorry just saw your sms on my mobile. I will give you a ring tomorrow if that's ok for you.

  9. Thanks a lot for all recommendations, I need to do proper research now in order to make a final decision. Might go for 1 or 2 monster sized TVs instead of many monitors if that option fits my purpose.

    @Somtam

    I'll send you a PM

    @Simon

thanks for your advice as well, I was using Matrox card when I started trading from here 15 years ago and it was supporting 3 screens.

Regarding internet connection it depends it was already sufficiently working (for my requirements) at that time and things have definitely improved.

If you run 2 lines and have a mobile phone for emergency calls to your broker that's all what you need.

  10. Having a hell of a time saving this message.. Here we go again, third time...

I did say the new intel z77 chipset and only on some motherboards allow 3 cards. That would mean 6 monitors.

    gforce http://www.geforce.c...hnology/sli/faq

this motherboard does a quad card http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157294

these do 2 and 3 SLI connections... http://www.futureloo...-intel-and-msi/

and how to set up http://www.epinions....4436697220?sb=1

Hi Somtam, thanks a lot for the additional information. Apparently I have a very annoying problem with my internet connection today and will hopefully manage to research those links tomorrow.

I had tried to send you a pm but it did not go through I believe. I'll try to send you a PM tomorrow and would appreciate if we could talk on the phone if that's ok with you.

  11. Probably more than you want to spend, but you can use up to six monitors with two graphics cards on a MacPro.

    Graphics on display.

Every Mac Pro graphics card features three display ports for maximum workspace flexibility. Two Mini DisplayPort outputs connect to a pair of Apple LED Cinema Displays with ease. And a dual-link DVI port connects a 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display or other DVI display. And with support for two ATI Radeon HD 5770 cards in the Mac Pro, you can connect more displays — up to six total.

I found it here. http://www.apple.com...s/graphics.html I suppose you should be able to use the same graphics cards on a windows machine of comparable specs.

Jimmi, thanks but I don't think I want to go with Mac as I'd still would need at least 2 of them. My requirements are rather important to quantity than quality and I don't need super graphic performance for my work setup. Nevertheless I like to ask if you would know of any other possible solutions as you seem to be well skilled, do you stay in Phuket?

I did find this graphics card that seems like it will do want to want: http://www.pcpro.co....s-off-one-card. The article says in theory you could run 24 monitors off it. But I would think your chipset would have to be very powerful and lot's of RAM. You may still need two machines for what you want to do. Not too sure. I'm a Mac guy mostly. I live in Rawai, but I'm leaving next week for a while.

Hello Jimmi, thanks again. I will do my research into that direction couldn't open that link though but I assume this has rather to do with my permanently dying internet connection today.

  13. No pm.

Most cards already have two outlets, if that is what you are asking. You can daisy chain two at the moment if your motherboard supports them. I would try one set first and if it works ok (no idea what your software is nor cpu), then at the most you would have to buy 4-5 computers if the 3 card option is not available.

Conversely, buy a tv with hdmi output (which is really just an expensive computer monitor) (50 inches+) and do it that way. Surely there is software for those multiple screens on a large monitor.

thanks, I have that in use now but need to optimize and increase numbers in screens. What I thought to understand from your first post is that there is an option to connect (extended view) up to 6 screens to one single computer but apparently did misinterprete that. What I knew before (sorry should have said it initially) was that I can connect 3 screens to one computer but since I need at least 10+ I am searching for a way where I do not need to run 4 PCs, 3 might be ok though.

  14. @Somtam

thanks for your reply. I am setting up a trading desk and need to use at least 10 monitors in order to watch markets. The graphic cards you mentioned do you have an idea whether they are available here and if then where? Excellent would be if I can run everything with 2 desktop computers. Is it possible that we could talk on the phone or meet? I have sent you a pm but not sure if you received it as my internet terribly sucks today.

    @Robin

thanks as well, I could do that but don't like it this way due to several reasons.

    --------

if anybody else could suggest differently than already listed please contribute.

    Thanks and BRs

  15. I intend to set up a computer infrastructure where I need to monitor 10 - 12 Screens at the same time and don't really know the best way how to do it.

How many computers do I need and what kind of graphic cards shall I use in order to slpit as many possible screens to each computer?

I did go around in Phuket Town to get basic information but there seems to remain a basic misunderstanding between my requirements

and the solutions I get proposed from the Thais.

So if anyone living here in Phuket with the appropriate Hardware Skill please contact me if you are willed to help.

    Thanks and BRs,

  16. AUDCHF, Daily signal

    Sell Limit 1.02780 stop 1.0365 target 1 is 1.0000 and 9965.

Sell was triggered at 1.02780 last night

Have paced a sell on GBPUSD at 1.5700, stop 1.5740 Target around 1.5600

Gone the opposite way Paulo at the moment.......

I'm long so happy for it to roll with trailing stop in place for now.....

Yes, almost got stopped on the cable entry. Not placing my stop at a round number saved me. I entered another position at 1.5725, sitting on 70 pips profit.

AUDCHF has worked well. From entry at 1.02780 and now 1.01420 , plus 139 pips in total.

The audchf was posted at day prior being triggered.

I liked the AUD/CHF idea and the fact that you posted entry level well in advance. Beyond that it was the very best possible entry. This position can easily go another 450 pips.

Nevertheless the cable trade was stopped if sticking to the numbers you suggested. Also you can not sit on 70 pips profit with this trade regardless whether you got stopped the first time or not.

  17. I don't think timeframes would be an issue because a chart is a chart whether its a 5min, weekly or quarterly doesn't make much of a difference. The idea to combine different market approaches in a broadly diversified portfolio (chart technical and fundamental) seems pretty interesting.

for me charts are not an issue. i buy, hold, sell, switch and trade a certain category of bonds (category changes every few years) without charts influencing my decisions.

Well, believe it or not you are also using a chart just is it one that nobody else can see or read. Anyway more of a point is to have different markets and approaches combined to chose which brings along diversification and skills enhancement. And from possibilities there is almost no limit where or how to invest. Consider you take your wife to a restaurant where there is a big nice buffet offering many different things. Would you rather go 2times for German Wurst and remain hungry if it's finished after a while or would you go for salad, soup, antipasti, meat and vegetable dishes and maybe a dessert on the top?

  18. Yes, Naan, Lanna and a few others contribute great value to the forum. If makes me shiver thinking what would happen if we all joined forces and set-up a investment trading company. The depth of knowledge would be significant. But then again who can really be bothered when we are either retired or semi retired.

    smile.png

it would be very difficult because our applied time frames do not match. sometimes it takes me a whole day or more to research and evaluate a single bond. only on very rare occasions i make an ad hoc decision within minutes to buy or sell.

by the way, i second Chivas that your comments are indeed very interesting but i admit that sometimes i'm at a loss to understand fully your lingo ermm.gif

no one is interested and thats cool, people have there own life to live.

i'm sure more people would be interested in your postings and perhaps ask questions if you'd explain (nomen est omen) your actions in more plain words.

    Yes Naan,

I should put more thought into my postings in regards to other traders. Being a trader i get in this mode where i think people that have followed the thread can see the reason in my post, my mistake.

Starting the tread was just about education, and then progressed into helping people (farangs) living in Tland to make additional income to support their lifestyle.

Fully appreciate your posts also. Thanks.

  19. Hi, I have never done a trip to Phuket by bus (and I never will). Thai busses scare me. (Reading the number of crash stories in the news forum does that to you.) If it were me, I would fly. It's not too expensive, and you get there in an hour and a half. Bus will be a full day, if not more. If you don't want to shell out for a plane, my second suggestion would be to take the train. I have done that trip before. There's different classes you can take. You can just get a seat or have a car with a convertible bed, so you can sleep. It's is more money and takes about the same amount of time...but I think it is much more comfortable.

Thanks for your input. I did fly BKK-HKT 100s of times as my main base is Phuket since many years. I ask that information purely because I want to go by bus. I am also aware of the train-bus route via Surat Thani but as stated I am keen to make this trip as described.

    BRs

  20. I have never done it but being a Saturday, I would assume it will be a full bus as it probably usually is anyway. I would actually get over there now and buy the ticket and at least you can know now if you are going or not.

    Hello Nisa,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I cannot go early but if there is no other choice I will probably have to get back to deal with a tour operator.
