  1. Expect the price war to continue in Thailand. China has a (over)-supply problem. https://www.ft.com/content/496f3bfa-9f0c-4145-9024-188572a280fd Imported vehicles are piling up at European ports, turning them into “car parks” as automakers and distributors struggle with a slowdown in sales and logistical bottlenecks including the lack of truck drivers.
  2. Speed kills, but luckily 😉 no lives were lost and only the EV's range was killed at m highway speed. The above 420 km range is reduced to 163 km at a constant 120 km/h. Both the Atto 3 and Seal 🦭 take a massive +60% reduction in range at speed. Not sure if the ORA funky cat is the same model as the good cat, but it is doing surprisingly well for it's fairly poor aerodynamic.
  3. Oil 🛢 is at $90, I am at the cabin and in good company, so even EVs get to see my soft side.
  4. BYD will start domestic production in Q3: https://electrek.co/2024/03/29/byd-kick-off-ev-production-new-thailand-plant-q3 BYD is rapidly ramping up its EV production capacity in Southeast Asia as a leaked image shows trial production of a right-hand drive Atto 3 at the company’s new factory in Thailand.
  5. Now that the dust has settled for the motorshow registration numbers and it is clear that EVs did well, then why was Tesla not there? Is Tesla afraid to compete directly with the new Chinese brands on price and showmanship? Also, are we really going to see 140 of these contraptions on Thai roads? Add an "r" to BOMA and you have a joke in Spanish. Lastly, Firebright might not be the best name for a Chinese EV. They are kind of setting themselves up for trouble down the road, so to speak.
  6. You are right. It is all happening so fast. 100% electric cars in Thailand are Mercedes-Benz, GWM, MG, NETA, Honda. https://autolifethailand.tv/ora-good-cat-ora-good-cat-gt-ev-thailand-production/
  7. Translation error? Apart from busses, not a single EV is made in Thailand yet, right?
  8. What happened on April 7th? Did Aion, MG and Mitsubishi just drop their pants and gave the cars away?
  9. Nah, the fun 🤣 has just begun. More cannon fodder for our little December 8th fire 🔥 deadline. Starting August you will have some tough sales numbers to match.
  10. The winner 🏆 in the cheating category is Mr. Dwyer. The team category is won by PibOil with a score of 5,088. In the individual category Pib takes gold ✨️ and EOW comes in on a strong second for silver
  11. @Pib, @vinny41 Are the sales number from the Motor Show out yet? Still a lot of blanks here: https://bims45.motorshow.in.th/statistics/# Pib at 3,200 vs. EOW at 1,888 for BYD.
  12. But....maybe she was an ex-employee at the bar 😉.
  13. That was all BYD had, one single swallow of a quarter. Winter came early this summer for BYD.
  14. Thanks @Pib. I find that EV are always online intriguing, but also alarming. Of course our phones also collect data, but with the cars we have hardware, software, firmware and all data access rules made in China 🇨🇳. I assume the car don't have options as to what data are shared similar to what most phone apps have? Is there any options to see what or even just how much data the car uploads? Apparently the car manufacturer can remotely disable the car. It could be a handy feature for the repo-guy, but so far no reports of it happening in Thailand.....yet.
  15. Very nice article. If you ever come across a similar discount tracking list for ICEV, please share. So far we seen 150,000 baht off the Ciaz and 800,000 baht on the Mercedes E300, but I am sure there are more out there
  16. Wow, nearly 400,000 baht discount on the Good cat. 25% down-payment and it is all yours, until the repo-guy knocks on ur door.
  17. All valid points, but with a million EV cars on the road, some EV buyers are probably also being lured away from the showrooms and into the second hand EV market. This is something we haven't seen in Thailand yet, but if and when the BYD fabric start pumping out 150,000 units, we might get a thriving second hand market around 2025/26 and that could put a damper on new EV sales. "There are now over a million electric cars on our roads.....
  18. Is it possible you add the sim number in the My AIS app to monitor the data usage, up- and downloads? The reason I ask, it that there is some debate in Europe that China is collecting and commercializing data from EVs. This could just be driver behavior, that is then sold to insurance companies, but it could also be both voice and video recordings in and around the car.
  19. @Pib, @Gweiloman Do you then have to have a separate mobile package for the car's sim card and can you freely choose the service provider? What is the monthly data usage? Will the car work if you decide to remove the sim card and go "dark"?
  20. Technical question to our EV owners. How and how much are these new EVs connected to the Internet? Do they have a sim card and always connected like a mobile phone or is it wifi only? If using the home wifi, is it then always connected when within range or just connecting or just when charging or just when an software update requires connectivity?
  21. Wait, what now? Mr. Chiang Rai lives in Chiang Mai? 😕
  22. Your wish has been granted 🎩 🪄 🔮.
  23. You have a new lease on life, based on your new EV market share metrics. I have made a little chart, just for you. It was a close call in February and starting May the first ray of summer sun ☀️ might start to shine.
