It is revealing that EV owners flock to forums about EV fires ????, they must worried about something. I have had ICE cars for 40+ years and visited many car sites, but always about technical issues. It never ever crossed my mind to investigate the fire risk.

Then they do what they have always done, pour a lot of water/foam on the fire and put it out. Is that really news to you?

Still it could be a wakeup call for marine industry. What if a EV burst into flames ???? on a packed ferry full of passengers?

National Transportation Safety Board and concluded that battery-powered EVs suffer only 25 fires per 100,000 sold, compared to 1,530 for petrol or diesel vehicles, and notably 3,475 for hybrids. Arson fires are also, somewhat fairly, includes in the ICE numbers. Anyway, it would be nice to see some true and fair numbers based on fires/(billion)km, but so far the EV industry have failed to be honest.

Cars burn during their lifetime on the road, so fire/sale is actually misleading. Since EV sales are increasing and few EVs are old enough for a full life cycle, it underreport the true EV fire statistics. The yearly milage number was just my guess and could be wrong, if you have better numbers please share.

Very impressive milage at 7 km/kwh, which in energy terms is equivalent to 21 km/l and a whopping 42 km/l based on cost. What kind of EV are you driving?

Using fires/sale is still statistic manipulation. If the average EV is 4 years old and the average ICE vehicle is 20 years old, then that will favor EVs with a factor 5. EVs also drive fewer km annually, lets say half the distance and EV fires are effectively underreported by a factor 10.

Insurance companies love EVs so much they charge double.

Odd why airline prefere to record accidents per passenger x km, but don't let a bit of statistical manipulation stain ur EV illusion. Ignorance is still the ultimate bliss ????.

It would be nice to see statistics based on km driven, rather than per vehicle. The average age of EV is also less than combustible engine cars, which could also be a factor.
