  2. Nice to see Macron's thought out and measured response to Truss's crassness. 'The UK and France are friends despite its leaders'. Putin must be laughing at the idiocy of our Foreign Minister.
  3. I want to hit the dance floor again. Is there anywhere in Thailand that plays classics like these?
  4. For me, the Byrds' version tops the list. McGuinn's voice just hits the spot, and the lyrics- Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth "Rip down all hate," I screamed Lies that life is black and white Spoke from my skull, I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers Foundationed deep, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now We can be so sure we know all the answers when we're young ( hence we're wise, old) but later on we realise life and moral choices are complex so it's back to the drawing board, we accept we know little. Sorry for the double post below. BTW, has anyone noticed the similarity between Putin and Dr Evil? Could they be related? I think we need to know.
  5. The sunny uplands promised by the Brexiteers have turned into a dismal scramble to save every penny.
  6. DBath is absolutely right, music is inextricably linked to our memories, a time in our lives. But thankfully it's more than just a nostalgia trip, so many of the great songs of the 60s and 70s, whether rockers or singer songwriters, inspire me to this day, whether it's a Pavlovian foot tapping or a sing along to a wonderful tune. Jim was right, music is our friend until the end. The worst crime I ever committed was to play some rock n roll lol
  7. Alan Parsons was a noted Cambridge physicist.
  8. Gove and Parris telling it like it is. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11130565/Team-Truss-left-furious-Michael-Gove-dismissed-campaign-holiday-reality.html
  9. A good day for the bananas.
  10. Has either candidate mentioned how they will deal with the disgusting pumping of raw sewage into the sea by private water companies rendering 50 UK beaches unusable? Note how the absent Prime Minister has avoided any UK beaches for his two holidays this month, preferring EU countries.
  11. Well Owl, as we all say, get better soon. In the meantime, August's rainfall has really hit the roof. Like the days of old, last night and tonight, just continuous downpours. This is definitely gonna put a blip in your chart of declining rainfall, Owl
  12. There aren't any space rock fans on this thread as far as I can see, which is a shame, Music for travel: whether on land, by ship, plane, or in your head. Music for when you arrive
  13. Great to see this thread thriving. When will the owner Of Thai Visa open a community radio station and give Blast From The Past a two hour slot in the evening? We could take turns at the turntable.. lol
  14. Two years I planted various trees around the farm, I was going for hardwoods. Now I can't remember what they are! I'd be grateful if a fellow tree lover could identify any of them. Second query, several times I've noticed what appears to be some kind of streamlined bird with a long slender tail, flitting between trees at a very fast rate. I'm wondering if it's a kind of bat, I'd love to take a photo but its far too fast for that. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
  15. Is the widespread sewage dumping on England's southern shores part of a plot to deter Channel crossing migrants?
  16. The prisoners should take up the offer to join the Russian military. Sent to the Front, they should then immediately surrender to the Ukranians, thus avoiding their prison sentence and death on the battlefield.
  17. Get better soon, Owl, you're missed.
  18. The doc said, ' Eat well, drink in moderation, listen to Hendrix regularly, and you should live to a ripe old age.'
  19. Barring accidents, just a few weeks before Liz is in the chair.
  20. What a band they were! The groove, unique in British bands imo, blues, funk, West Coast, jazz, rock, all combined. And that voice!
  21. Lindsey Buckingham demonstrating how lead guitar on a great song doesn't need a million notes.
  22. Ha ha Denim, they needed a few drinks under their belt. Bands must have hated doing the TV shows as opposed to concerts but the exposure was there so it was necessary.
