  1. 'Thaksin thinks, Pheu Thai does' is the slogan Thaksin, the owner, once chose for his party.. So his daughter has to find out what the owner plans to do next.
  2. Putin rejects Belgorod's governor' request for weapons to protect the province. Is he afraid they may be used against his regime?
  3. She once recorded a show in London for one of the TV channels, at the end the whole crew: cameramen, sound engineers stood up and gave her a standing ovation. Someone remarked how rare that was as the crew were used to working with the best in rock
  4. Pheu Thai insist on the position of House Speaker https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/40027950
  5. 60s and 70s guitar based rock. Rhythms to get you on your feet with tunes and guitar playing to take you away. The magic never leaves .
  6. The south of Thailand, Pra-Nang cave, is a popular place for women wishing to become pregnant.
  7. Jim, you're so naive. Of course they deny, didn't Prayuth deny he'd ever hold a coup? Look at it this way, the establishment hate Pita and MF. Pheu Thai are smarting from MF beating them. Thaksin controls PT and is desperate to come in from the desert. The sand gets in your eyes after a while. Now, if MF form a government as proposed, there will be no amnesty for him, no quick deal. Now who could ease his way back? Pravit with his connections to senators, etc. Anuthin too, has connections going way back. But it would be foolish of these parties to make a move until/unless Pita is banned. Yesterday someone asked the proposed government to sign a future MOU where they would go into opposition together if Pita is banned.. The idea was shot down PT are just waiting for Pita to be banned to propose Settha as PM. The question is how loud will the scream of the butterfly ( MF) be if Pita is banned?
  8. When Thaksin's parties were banned, the establishment only had to worry about red shirts being bussed in from the north-east and north. They had to be paid, fed and find a park to camp at. Quite a logistic exercise. But MF are prominent in urban areas, in Bangkok they hold 32 out of 33 seats. They could protest, paralyse Bangkok easily if Pita is banned.
  9. The old guard are desperate but they know they can rely on Pheua Thai to help them out. Thaksin will do anything to come home. There are no permanent enemies in Pheua Thai, a party that welcomes back traitors who joined the junta government.!
  10. Great rock n roll xtr. Can't beat that fast beat and those rock n roll guitar chords. The Doors, unique and timeless.
  11. I believe the elite prefer a neutered and chastened Thaksin and his traditional dynastic family politics to MF's genuine passion for reform. If Pita is disqualified over the redundant media shares inherited after his father's death, then Pheua Thai can claim the PM's post. Bring in Bhumjaithai , Pravit's party and the senators who "listen' to him and PT have the premiership, They'll need Prayuth's party and the Democrats too, then Bob's your uncle, or rather Thaksin is. I hope I'm wrong but anyone who thinks Thaksin will put the desires and aspirations of the Thai people before his own interests is seriously deluded. I remember back in the early 90s when he was allegedly said to have given an expensive Bentley to one of the coup makers of 1991 in exchange for a monopoly concession .
  12. I was a teacher of high school students in Bangkok for years and yes, the young are certainly not constrained by the establishment. Their frustration and contempt for the status quo was made evident to me time and again. But it's a different matter for those over 50. Many still believe in the traditional values. If it came to an uprising I believe they will stick with the status quo, as will every political party except MF.
  13. Rumours that Pravit will dissolve his party, enabling its members to join Pheu Thai, and hence become the majority party, are denied by PT
  14. There's danger on the edge of town, Jim. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/a-closer-look-at-the-constitutional-courts-9-judges-as-pm-tenure-ruling-looms/
  15. His past caught up with him. He supported Suthep's Shut Down Bangkok campaign and he voted for Prayuth to be PM.
  16. I'm not sure the senators would prefer the alternative to MF, namely the Thaksin led PT. Hopefully enough senators see the light and recognise the desire for change and reform in Thailand. An insightful article by Pravit explaining why MF triumphed over PT
  17. An interesting article where Jatupon urges MF to sit it out till June next year when the senators' terms expire.
  18. Yes, the sudden rise of FF showed the desire of many Thais for reform which none of the other parties offered. Dissolving them simply led to the ascent of MF. The banned three leaders still made a very visible presence. Indeed, there was a public quarrel recently between Piyabutr and Pita about policy. If they dissolved MF, its MPs can move to another party and rename it keeping the 'Forward' as part of the name, ' Forward Forever' sounds good to me!.
  19. Nevertheless, Pita is MF's sole PM candidate. If he's banned, the baton for PM will pass to PT. They could bring in Bhumjai Thai, perhaps offering Anuthin the premiership if he helps bring Thaksin home, or even bring in Pravit's crew for the same reason. But the numbers for a PT government would be dodgy if MF went into the Opposition. PT can't bring in The Democrats or Prayuth's party, plus Sudarat's party and Seri's would join MF in the Opposition. In addition this would infuriate the public who voted for MF and hopefully hand a further dribbling to PT at the next election. For Thailand's sake, I hope Pita can be PM
  20. I wonder why MF didn't nominate more than one candidate for PM. Perhaps they didn't think they would be in this enviable position post election. If Pita is disqualified, then PT will take the reins and all talk of reform will collapse.
  21. Bhumjai in Thai means proud but I've never heard of anyone translating the word when referring to the Bhumjai Party. Pheua Thai the same, nobody calls them The For Thai Party! But other parties' names were often translated: The Democrats, Chavalit's New Aspiration Party, for example. I was glad to see the public forced MF to reject Korn, one of 2 MPs from his party . The man played a prominent role in Suthep's Bangkok shutdown as well as supporting Prayuth to be PM. Good riddance.
  22. If Pheu Thai accept MF's win graciously, then there is hope, but if they betray them, then all hell breaks loose.
