  1. Happy Birthday Roger Daltrey In this first version note Keith Moon's prescient introduction
  2. George Harrison was born on this day. Far out, George, what a riff! Happy Birthday Elkie Brooks
  3. The Creator was busy on this day. Happy 80th Birthday Paul Jones Nicky Hopkins was born on this day, lovely piano playing Happy Birthday George Thorogood
  4. A dreadful day for Europe and Ukraine, and sad news musically with the death of Gary Brooker. This was the standard last song of the night at many a disco of my youth. If you were lucky you had a bird to hold close on the dance floor as you shuffled around, if not, you were just one of the wallflowers, standing against the wall, watching the happy couples entwined on the dance floor. What a tune, what a voice! and what lyrics!
  5. Mick Green was born on this day. Shin kicking rock n roll He went to the same school as me but he was never there lol
  6. I prefer Man U but only because Don Revie had such a dirty team
  7. Alan Hull, a Newcastle man, was born on this day. So was Walter Becker The Creator was busy, for Randy California first appeared on this day too. .
  8. The wind and rain felled a cotton tree near the shed on the farm. Did some minor damage. My error for planting such tree close to a building, they easily fall in storms. We soon got a neighbour and his tractor to drag it off the roof. A fire is such comfort in wet and cold times like this Fully agree about Ban Dung, Owl. It's a great town, small enough to still have friendly people but big enough to have most amenities one needs VID_20220220_074937.mp4
  9. Festivals were great back in the early 70s. Sociologists always cite Altamont as the death of the hippie dream but I always remember a good vibe at UK events. Lots of good humour and banter between festival goers.. Happy Birthday Andy Powell, keeping the Wishbone flag flying.
  10. Happy Birthday Yoko Ono, 89 today! An exceptional knitter. The pain, the pain.
  11. More rain forecast plus drop in temp to 13 degrees!
  12. Have you enjoyed the rain, Owl? Much appreciated here but could do without the low temperatures. A passing cow left its calling card in front of the house today. My 4 year old granddaughter remarked how much it resembled a cake. She soon produced a candle and joined her cousin in a rousing rendition of Happy Bird Day.
  13. You're a musical adventurer Tippers, always looking for new material whilst I'm quite content to sit on the 500 odd songs I know on a loop for ever. Having said that, this thread is a joy to be part of, often hearing new material. I shouldn't denigrate Hull, the place and people have character, much more than many other towns in the UK. I had a great time growing up there but I had to get out, first from the parochialism of the area, then finally from the dullness of the UK Dreadful weather, a tiny country, a million laws. Regulated to death. The freedom of movement Thai weather brings, the space upcountry, the friendliness of locals when you see them every day, all give me a sense of well being I could never achieve in the UK
  14. The older I get, the more I appreciate early Floyd. What a lovely song by Gilmour.
  15. Regarding Hull, Tippers, imo there were two people of note: Mick Ronson Henry Priestman. Henry was a good friend of mine at primary school. He had the good sense, like myself, to leave Hull as soon as possible, moving to Liverpool, and having a successful career with The Christians. I believe he was still playing small gigs in Liverpool, before the pandemic, at people's houses. The story of Hull
