  1. Simple interest formula v. Amortization formula

    http://online.morain...st_car_loan.htm

Honestly i think you are giving incorrect information ...

instead of this " simple interest formula v. Amortization formula" it should be the "future value simple interest v. Amotization formula"

same as the chrysler financial which is simple interest based on outstanding principal.

I do agree that this is something that might happen here in thailand but reputable lenders in the usa dont do this..if they do lend like this the loan would be "rule of 78"

No one should borrow money with the interest loaded up front..

    .

Thought it was an interesting article, that's all. Sorry, if I wasn't clear. OK, "future value simple interest". Regardless, here in Thailand simple interest is calculated only on the principle amount. Fair or not, that's the way it happens to be here.

  2. At those rates, why not put the purchase on a credit card?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea. In the U.S. you get a better rate because it is usually amortized, but here vehicle financing is done using a simple interest calculation. Personal loans here do use an amortized rate though. While the rates are high, they are the the same for Thais or foreigners.

I think you are slightly mistaken....In the us simple interest is interest calculated only on the outstanding principle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interest

Perhaps, but here in Thailand simple interest is calculated only on the principle amount. This is only for small bikes. I believe they do it differently for cars and big bikes.

  3. We've got them (black, silver, and brown) here at Sumet for 2,950 if anyone is interested.

Are the ones you have for the CBR 250 or the 150? Are they different?

The ones I have are for the 150, but I could also order the ones for the 250.

  4. Loads of genuine Honda accessories for the Zoomer-X. Here are some pics from the brochure.

If you look at the second pic from the left there is a waterproof box that slips into the under seat storage area. I didn't see it at first.

  5. I had the American spec velocity stacks installed and fully opened up the air box today. However, Big Wing were not willing to install the Magical Racing piggy back. I've got a guy who used to tune bikes for Feem that is going to do it next week though. So far with the Akrapovic exhaust, K&N filter, derestricted air box, and full size velocity stacks both HP and torque have increased about 15% according to the dyno graphs. Riding home there was a very noticeable difference in acceleration and of course sound.

Do you have reference numbers on that dyno from a full spec bike to go by? if not, you'll never really know how close you are to full spec as dyno numbers vary by a bunch.

No reference numbers. Most sites I've seen have it at about 153 for RWHP and 77 lb-ft for torque. I already had the exhaust and K&N filter on the bike, so they used a stock restricted bike as a base line. They then did a dyno on my bike with the aftermarket exhaust and filter. They then ran a second dyno with the full size velocity stacks. I'll do one more dyno next week after I install the piggyback. It doesn't have to be exact. I'll just be happy to get it close to full spec.

It depends what correction factor they use. some dynos will show RWHP and some will correct to HP at the crank and there's also "happy" dynos which give high numbers... I've had my US spec 08 CBR done at Dirtshop which gives low numbers, mine ran 135hp stock and 145hp with IRC-1/PC3/Full yoshi.

Thanks, I was wondering what correction factor meant. It actually said no correction on the screen, so I guess it was rwhp. I think I'll do a dyno run at Dirt Shop too, just to compare it with Big Wing's dyno numbers.

  8. We just started selling this policy here at the shop. It is done through Asia Plus. They are a reputable company and you won't have any problems dealing with them. It is a great option for owners of smaller bikes looking for coverage.

Do you have an English version of the brochure Brian?

Here are the policy details in English.

    Own Damage

Not more than 10,000 per accident

    Medical Coverage

    Rider - Max 50,000 Passenger - Max 50,000

    Property Damage

    Max of 600,000 per accident

    Third Person Coverage

300,000 per person with a max of 10,000,000 per accident

    Bail Bond

    100,000 baht

*Available for all models regardless of age.

I am a bit confused on own damage. Is his bike insured for 10,000 if stolen? This seems low but he doesnt specify what type of bikes he is insuring?

There is no provision for theft in this policy. You have to purchase a separate policy for that.

  9. @ SumetCycle:

Brian, you are confusing this with my first class insurance for the CBR.

    @all:

All my statements were made for the insurance the OP mentioned in the first post (3+ insurance from company "asiainsurance" for 1,699 Baht). The documents i have posted are original documents i got for this insurance.

Yes, I was. Sorry about that.

  10. Tsukigi is another good option.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EOUQdypYxw

I was very dissapointed with the tsukigi header. This was for a dtracker and not a cbr...as you can see in the pics the pipe end dimensions were way off. I returned it with the original for them to fix as the nuts could not be secured 100% on the exhaust studs. Instead of changing the pipe end they bent the flange in thai fashion. The pipe also touched the engine and frame where it shouldnt. I did get a refund minus 300 2*shipping.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I've only installed them on CBR 250s and so far haven't had a problem.

  11. Brian, those underseat storage stay accesories; are they steel or bungie cord material? I realise there appears to be a bungie cord material net, but what of those pieces which seem to be intended for the sides?

Yes, the are intended to seal up the storage area and they are made of metal.
