  1. my interpretation is the same as yours, however I will wait til I have had the conversation with the aussie tax expert re the Thai/Oz tax treaty.
  2. that's the confusion with the wording of S18. Does "State" mean the State/Country" where payment is made from OR where payment is received. That's what I'm waiting to hear about. I'm scheduled to receive a phone call from an aussie tax agent on Jan 23 with regards to S18
  3. of the Chump appointed judges, Kavanaugh is the one that will be open to the most criticism if he votes in Chumps favour because of a legal opinion he wrote. In that published legal opinion he writes that a President has NO presidential immunity and is subject to civil and/or criminal prosecution for his actions once he is no longer in office and if the statute of limitations applies then it should be extended to make allowance for the time spent in office. So we shall see whether e backs up his own legal opinion or whether he will be a hypocrit and vote in Chumps favour. Also Williams needs to recuse himself.
  4. that will depend on your age. If you are under 65 the first 150k is tax free, older than 65 the first 190k is tax free. So it would seem that your 130k would be exempt from tax.
  5. aussie pensions are the same to an extent Non taxable in Oz but looks like they will be taxed here, even with a Thai/Aussie Tax Treaty in place. The treaty, and this is where the wording gets confusing, says the tax is payable in the state (viz country) where the pension is received, not where it is paid. I'm awaiting advice from an aussie tax agent that specialises in the aussie tax treaties to get back to me.
  6. Was watching some YouTube videos by "Scammer Payback" over the last 2 weeks. This guy (Pirogi) is a hacker who coordinates his hacks with US Law enforcement, that hacks into scamming call centers in India and copies all their data and then deletes their files and uses the copied data as evidence to get many of the sites shut down and the scammers arrested. In one episode, in the copied victims list, there were so many Thais that had been scammed out of amounts of 1 million baht or more.
  7. that's not my understanding. The advice I've received is that such earnings would have needed to be transferred into Thailand by 31 Dec 2023. Even if that advice is incorrect, how is a person going to be able to prove to the RD that the funds transferred in after 1 Jan 2024, viz savings etc were actually earned prior to 1 Jan 2024. It won't be easy to do that, and even if it can be done will the RD accept it. Even your screed in an earlier comment on the tax laws makes that point, and it was also a point that was stressed in a video interview with a leading Tax accountant in BKK.
  8. under the changes it doesn't matter when it was earned, it's now based on when you bring the funds into Thailand. Using your example, if you were to bring the 50k into Thailand after Jan 1 2024, it is income for the 2024 taxation year regardless of whether that interest was earned last year or 10 years ago.
  9. After reading the Australia/Thailand tax treaty, and just receiving advice from a tax expert, even though the Australian age pension is tax free in Australia it IS taxable here under the new Tax laws effective 1 Jan 2024.
  10. they need to booze test their own first. My missus held a class reunion at our place on boxing day night. 5 of her former classmates that attended are police officers. They all drove here separately, but god knows how 3 of them managed to do so as they were already smashed to the eyeballs when they arrived (all in uniform because they were still on duty) and between them they consumed another 4 bottles of Sang Som whisky, and then they drove back to their police stations. If the cops won't obey the law, let alone enforce it, how on earth can the average Thai be expected to obey the law.
  11. DrJack, did you actually read the OP's topic. He asked why do people do their Immigration business themselves and why, NOT do they use agents and why. You really do go off topic with many of your comments.
  12. You've completely missed the point I was trying to make, and it was tongue in cheek when pointing out the hypocrisy of it all.
  13. yeah, Micky Dolenz is the sole surviving member. Aged 78.
  14. when are people going to realise the problems they encounter are NOT with Lazada, they ARE with the sellers. Lazada is just the platform that the sellers use. The same applies to Shopee and Ali Express.
  15. Nobody's mentioned the Mickey Mouse Club. Never missed it after school. Also Lawman, Tales of the Texas Rangers, The Rifleman, Circus Boy (with Micky Dolenz from The Monkeys as Corky), I Love Lucy, There's too many to mention that haven't already been mentioned, mainly because I'm having trouble recalling their names.
  16. just because we're in our 70's doesn't make us really old. It just means that we've had more life experience than those that are younger than us.
  17. Jack, why did you go off topic? The OP never mentioned or asked about extensions ONLY 90 day reporting and what the situation is if he reports early.
  18. Jack you are incorrect on in person. Clock ALWAYS restarts on the day of application.
  19. it will be calculated from 27th March, so due on 24th June.
  20. you're the one missing the point. I fully understand what it's about. You've missed the point that it's racist and hypocritical. Go and reread my post and perhaps you'll understand the point I was making.
  21. So 2 brits can marry each other and live in the UK, even if they earn less than 38.7k quid, BUT a brit can't marry a foreigner and bring her to the UK if they earn less than that. Absolute hypocrisy & racism at it's best. The only way that this proposed law would cease to be racist and hypocritical would be for the law to forbid any couple (british or otherwise) from marrying and living in the UK if they earn less than 38.7k quid. Could you imagine the uproar if that was the case. Total idiots in govt in the UK too.
  22. I use ttb and I did a transfer for 115kTHB last week using the app, because they've taken the online direct banking web site down, and no issues at all. Also ttb are stating foreigners are exempt from photo ID. So as scubascuba said, not all the banks are in line with this policy.
  23. if teh amaalgamation you're referring is is for the 2 banks beginning with a T, then since the merger they have become increasingly incompetent. Earlier this year it took them 2 hours to do a bank guarantee letter for Immigration, so I'm not surprised about them refusing an international transfer if it is the amalgamated bank.
