Man Utd v Liverpool in Bangkok: Tickets on sale March 10
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in Football forum
As much as I'd love to travel from Chiang Mai to Krung Thep to see the match, ticket prices are a bit rich for this old dude ( a Liverpool supporter since 1970 ). Approx AUD $200 for the nose bleed seats and approx AUD $1000 for best seats. -

Pheu Thai confident it can remove Prayut Chan-ocha by May
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, that the constitution has a provision that permits military coups. Until this section of the constitution is removed (lol) then there will always be a general with ambitions of overthrowing a civilian govt. -
Absolutely everything will be Hers

I had a farang mate pass about 18 months ago. Within 1 hour of his passing his personal bank account had been frozen. The hospital notified every bank in our village. However his joint account remained unfrozen. Once his Thai wife had the death certificate she took that to the bank together with his will ( about 3 days after he passed ) and all his funds were transferred to the joint account which was then changed to just a personal account for his widow. So I guess it depends on where you live in Thailand, and how efficient the grapevine is. I'm sure you've heard of the 3 major forms of communication ( a saying back home from the 60's ) - telegraph, telegram and tell a woman. The 3rd one is still very applicable to this day. -

she'd have to do it very quickly after your passing. It's surprising how quickly the banks find out about a farang death and freeze the account. -

From my experience with a farang acquaintance, that is not the case, unless the wife is also a farang. He was married to a Thai, did not have a Thai will, and he had also been advised that his wife would automatically inherit everything. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Once the bank were advised of his death his bank accounts were frozen. The district office and police were notified of his death. Subsequently Immigration and his embassy were notified and that was passed back via the embassy to his home country. The relevant govt dept in his home country, once aware there was no will (Thai or otherwise) then ascertained if he had any living blood relatives, and once that had been ascertained, his home country notified Thai officials and his estate was automatically distributed to those relatives. His Thai wife received nothing. He also wanted a christian burial, but as there was no will stipulating his funeral requirements he was given a buddhist funeral and cremated. Also you don't need to go to the Amphur office to make a Thai will. In previous threads on the topic of Thai wills there have been links to Thai Will templates. Just complete the will in your own language and have it translated to Thai. You can register the will at the Amphur if you wish, but it's not a requirement. I keep my Thai will (english & Thai translation) under lock and key at my home. Better to be safe than sorry. The only fee I incurred for my will was to have it translated to Thai and certified. By having the will it is guaranteed that my Thai partner receives my entire estate and that no estranged family members/relatives receive anything. I'll pm you a template of my will with relevant personal data redacted. -

Get a Thai will ( in your native language & translated to Thai ). It's the ONLY way to guarantee that she gets everything. Thai wills also include a section for you to stipulate your funeral arrangements. -
How would these idiots survive if they were truckies in Australia or in other western countries, they wouldn't with this attitude. As a comparison and to show how little knowledge these morons have of how fuel prices are arrived at ( fuel companies exploiting motorists, not the govt ) the price of diesel in Australia TODAY is 40.14 THB per litre. The price of E10 is 42.5 THB per litre (E20 here is around the 34 - 35 THB per litre range ). So fuel prices here, whilst on the increase, are not rising as rapidly as in the west. So with the govt capping the price of diesel at 30 THB per litre they have nothing to complain about when compared to current global fuel prices. Fuel prices are up everywhere. Perhaps ALL motorists should also be protesting to drive the price of E20, 91 & 95 etc down, especially as there's more general motorists that truckies.

Thai women need to be aware of Western Mother’s in-laws!!!!
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in General Topics
Not if it has been written correctly. "My mother in law" refers to his wife's mother. "My wife's mother in law" refers to his mother. So he's saying HIS mother is a complete cow. I can relate to that as my mother was the most self centered, selfish, bigoted individual I've ever known.- 62 replies

VIDEO: New hope for improving Thailand’s road safety
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not powerful enough. Cars, pick ups, motor bikes should be impounded IMMEDIATELY if the police should happen to stop someone for a traffic infringement. e.g. Plod pulls motor cyclist over for no helmet. Instead of giving a slap on the wrist, impound the motor bike immediately. Tell the motor cyclist where the bike can be collected from impound, BUT the MUST come with a helmet and pay a 5,000 baht impound fee to get the bike back. Failure to do so within 14 days will result in the registration being cancelled and the bike either being sold at auction or crushed, unless an appeal is lodged through the courts within the same time frame. Similar scenarios could be created for offences involving any kind of motor vehicle. As an incentive to plod, they get 10% of the impound fee if it gets paid. -
Just download one of the many call blocker apps, and as you receive the calls, don't answer them, BUT blacklist them in the app. Simple really.

Actually it's a very logical statement. Those that already struggle to meet the 800k requirement will more than likely have next to no chance of meeting the the additional cost involved for the 3 million baht ( whether it be self insurance, assets etc ). So I'm inclined to agree. The number of cheats that have to resort to the use of an agent to do their annual extensions should decrease significantly IMHO.

Yellow house book requires long term visa
TigerandDog replied to thaibook's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Joe, so what you're saying is a blue book doesn't show a person's name, is that correct. If that's the case, why does my wife's blue book have her name and the rest of her family's names in it, and the address of their house & land. I have to disagree with your reply as I also have a farang friend that owns his condo and he has a blue book, it shows his name and the address of the condo AND he uses it as proof of address for Immigration, DLT, banks etc and he used to it get his pink ID card. He does not have a yellow book. -

If he has a blue book then he doesn't need to get a yellow book. -
nothing to do with being careful. They think it's safe to drive at that speed, BUT from my experience in the north drivers that proceed at around 40km/hr, without a heavy load that would warrant that speed, usually don't have a license, and they seem to think that by driving slow the police won't stop them. Unfortunately, driving that slowly is just as dangerous as speeding.

Temporary red car license plate restrictions.
TigerandDog replied to bkkdriller's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
bought a new car last February. Took 2 months for the white plates to be available. Did not keep any log books and regularly drove out of province and passed through numerous check points in both directions, for 2-3 days at a time while on the red plates, and was never stopped by the police or army.
