  1. No. you have the right to express an opinion as to whether you like tattoos or not, but you do NOT have the right to state that those who do have them fall into specific categories ( criminals etc) as many on here have done, or to criticise those who have them. Getting tats is a PERSONAL choice. If you don't like them that's fine, but don't categorise those that do. Doing so is a form of bigotry.
  2. I've never had an issue with buffering with vipleague, but I put that down to the bandwidth/download speed of my internet connection.
  3. "and no other way to view" - disagree with that statement 100%. The world cup, like almost all international professional sports, can viewed for FREE om vipleague
  4. Mine is up for renewal in mid 2024, but plan on starting renewal process around Nov 2023. However, I don't believe it is necessary to travel to BKK to the Aussie Embassy to do so. It is my understanding I can renew at the Aussie Consulate in Chiang Mai. what I don't know is whether it is mandatory to leave the soon to expire passport with the consulate staff or if I can keep it with me, as it will be necessary for me to do a 90 report in late December/early January. The other information I'm uncertain of is the cost. Is it the same as what is currently charged in Oz ($350.00) or is the price inflated somewhat?
  5. that may be so, but did you ever stop to think that perhaps, and I say perhaps, his paperwork wasn't correct. From my experience those that use an agent fall into 2 categories: #1. Taking a shortcut because they don't meet the requirements OR #2. They're just too lazy/incompetent to do it themselves and do it correctly. I do my own extensions each year and have no problems whatsoever. Have the correct documentation and you shouldn't have any issues, unless the IO is having a bad day, and that's usually because they keep having to deal with foreigners that don't have their documentation correct and who want to stand there and argue with them. I've witnessed that on many occasions.
  6. Far too many cases of judging a book by it's cover. Who really cares what the nay sayers think, certainly not me. The tats I have, have specific meaning to me and I don't fall into any of the categories listed earlier by a very narrow minded poster. I grew up in an era when having a tattoo was frowned upon by the oldies of the time. I eventually woke up to the fact that I didn't have to please others in this life, just myself. I got my first tattoo at age 60. I now have 10. All those posters with such narrow minded opinions about tats should keep your negativity to yourselves as none of you have the right to say whether it is wrong to have tattoos. Learn to accept people for who they are, not what their appearance is.
  7. caught up with a friend from Pattaya last week and asked him about this very topic. He said that EVERY business that has girls ( beer bars, go go bars etc ) all pay monthly bribes to the police. He said he pays around 20k baht per month, and he has all the required licenses. So can imagine what size the payments are for those without the proper licenses.
  8. that's not my experience with Makro. I returned an item and asked if I could get a replacement from in the store. Information desk said to go and get the replacement item. Brought it back to them, they went to the checkout processed a credit for the returned item and then scanned the replacement item. Just had to pay the difference on the spot. No issues whatsoever. All done in 10 minutes and no paperwork involved.
  9. saw the video of the accident on teh news last night. No way he applied the brakes, in fact he tried to change lanes while he was accelerating so he had no intention of attempting to stop. I even said to the missus when watching the video I bet he tries to say his brakes failed. She agreed 100%.
  10. there's a better word to describe this driver and others just like him, it begins in f and ends in wit
  11. We recently purchased a new car for cash. As part of the transaction we also asked what discount we could get for a cash payment. Ended up with 85k off the price, and that was after our trade-in. We were able to transfer funds directly into the dealership's bank account as payment.
  12. Have encountered this twice now. Once in Mae Rim and once in Fang. Shop owner was giving me a gob full on both occasions and on both occasions threatened to damage my car if I didn't move Got my wife to tell them that it was public parking and they could not legally stop me from parking in front of their shops. Both threatened to call the police and we told them go ahead as they were the ones acting illegally. The police turned up both times and had no idea that the shop owners were acting illegally. However, when my wife's 10 year old nephew piped up and told the police that it was public parking and it was illegal to prevent anyone from parking there the police suddenly changed their minds from anti farang stance to making the shop owners remove the obstacles they had put on the road. My wife also advised the police that the shop owners threatened to damage the car if it wasn't moved for which they both received on the spot fines.
  13. done. so you should now have received 3 pm's from me.
  14. I've never had to produce 2 bank letters at CM, and I've been doing extensions there for 8 years now. From an 800k in the bank perspective I've only ever had to give them the bank guarantee letter, copy of updated passbook with transaction on the day of requesting extension and copies of pages for previous 12 months showing any transactions ( interest earned & tax deducted if any) and for the last 3 extensions a 12 month statement so they can see that I've met the seasoning requirements. To be honest I think my bank has gone loony as since 1 July this year they now credit my FD account with interest and deduct tax on a monthly basis, but I'll take that as it means that my earned interest has now become compound interest.
  15. No, it's an arrangement I have with the manager of my branch which more than likely would not be available elsewhere at the same bank. The manager is a cousin of my wife.
  16. My bank does, and the name of that bank is none of your business. My account IS a dedicated account (Imm purposes only) and they allow me to make a 100 baht deposit the same day they issue my bank guarantee letter so I can meet the requirement of CM Imm Office. As to the others you refer to did not post as a reply to my comment I ignored them consistently post comments unrelated to the topic ( in this case CM ) and were WRONG about everything you said, except for it being a stupid rule, you should stay on topic and stop generalising.
  17. Drjack, this topic is relevant to CM only not a general discussion, so how about you keep your opinions re other Imm offices to yourself as you are not from CM and don't know what their requirements are, and BTW this is not the first time you've posted comments re CM and been wrong with regards to their requirements.
  18. yes it is. I use 800k in fixed deposit account and I've had to provide a 12 month bank statement, as well as bank book with copies and bank guarantee letter as well as a small deposit on the same day I apply for the extension for my last 3 annual extensions at CM, and I'm a friend of one of the senior IO's there.
  19. I use 800k in the bank. Passbooks when updated do not show every individual transaction, just an aggregate of deposits and an aggregate of withdrawals since the previous update. CM IO's want to see that you meet the 2 months before and 3 months after requirements with the 800k and the ONLY way they can see that is with a 12 month statement.
  20. Not correct. skatewash will require his passbook, copies of his passbook as well as the bank guarantee letter AND a 12 month bank statement. I have been required to provide all of these at CM for my last 3 extensions based on retirement.
