  1. I'll bet the engineers didn't or won't check to see that everything has been earthed. This is not the first time people have either been electrocuted or received an electric shock and the nearby power poles and or power outlets have not been earthed. I recall reading several articles in the past about people in Phuket receiving electric shocks in Bangla Rd. Took the relevant authorities 6 months and more people receiving shocks at the same location to even consider that the power poles had not been earthed and then rectify the problem.
  2. travelled from CM to BKK and return by the overnight train ( 1st class sleeping car ) last may. No restaurant or bar on the train. Need to buy your supplies ( food and drink) before boarding.
  3. bloody aerial ping pong. That's not footy, but neither is both forms of cross country wrestling, viz. rugby league and rugby uniion. Nevertheless good luck.
  4. I've added 23 scam calls to my call blocker blacklist in the last 3 days. As soon as I see + in front of the number calling I hang up as I haven't given my number to anyone outside of Thailand. The same with unknown Thai numbers.
  5. No they didn't. The 3rd party seller was given your info by the seller. I had the same thing happen once, and I always pay COD. Just reported via Lazada site that goods were not as ordered, Lazada contacted the courier and I received a full refund 2 days later. The courier had the details of the shipper, gave them to Lazada and Lazada recovered the money and refunded to the courier. You should always keep the order confirmation email so that you can track the package.
  6. we've just had something similar done. Didn't need to re-render the walls. First the walls were sandpapered. Second they were painted with a protective skin. This was applied to stop the cement render from absorbing the moisture out of the paint. Third 1 coat of undercoat was applied & Fourth 2 top coats were then applied.
  7. I used to be very sceptical about this type of thing until 2020. My dad passed in 1962 and I'd never had a dream about him since then. Then in early August 2020 he appeared in a dream as clear as crystal and said that he and my mum had been apart for far too long and that they'd be together again real soon. She passed 3 weeks after that dream. So not so sceptical anymore.
  8. If you sound your horn and the dog doesn't move, run the bloody thing over. It shouldn't be there in the first place. When I was young I had an uncle that swerved to avoid a dog on the road and he accidently ran into a lady pushing a stroller with her young baby in it. Since then if they don't move after I've blasted the horn, bad luck dog.
  9. where I am in Chiang Mai the car must be tested from year 6 onwards, viz the first 5 rego renewals there is testing involved, provided the car was brand new when purchased. Obviously this does not apply if you bought the car 2nd hand, it then depends on the age of the vehicle based on it's year of manufacture.
  10. Before watching this movie, I strongly recommend watching the documentary of the same name on YouTube. You'll then appreciate the movie and the lengths Ron Howard has gone to to make it as accurate as possible even more so.
  11. so many threads on this topic. To absolutely guarantee that your Thai wife receives your money in the Thai bank, get a Thai will done. It will save her a lot of inconvenience and needless grief. I've posted in other threads on this topic about farang friends that passed without a Thai will, and that their Thai wives received NOTHING as a result. Thier Thai assets automatically went to their living relatives in their home countries. Get a Thai will for cryin out loud.
  12. and that's exactly why I get the USA. the 001 then the 1800 makes it a 0011 call, which gets answered in America. So again what's the trick to using the 1800 number to reach centrelink? I understand the use of 001 is supposed to identify the call as being made from Thailand, but as soon as the 1 for teh 1800 gets added, bingo USA every time and I've been trying to use this contact number for the 8 years i've been here and it's always the same result.
  13. Every time I've tried to use it I get some poor woman in the USA answering. So what's the trick to using this number? The 001 code is the international code for the USA
  14. you can also contact centrelink through the MyGov web site.
  15. the Free call number doesn't work. Dial that number and you get someone in the USA
  16. It was explained in a Thaivisa post in 2019 when he was head of Immigration where the name Big Joke came from. His father loved to play a game of cards that included the use of the joker. It was a card he consistently managed to have & use in the hands he was dealt, and his son was given the nic name joke ( short for joker ) by his father's card playing companions, and it stuck. So like many Thai police when they get promoted to a certain level the term Big is attached to their nic names, hence big joke.
  17. The questions this accident raises are many. Should such aged children as 14 be riding motorcycles? - NO What does it say about road safety education if they are driving a vehicle - and a motorcycle at that - while on the phone? - there is none What is likely to happen to the apparently entirely innocent pick-up drivers involved in such a tragedy? Someone will find a way to blame him and try to extract money from him How can needless accidents like this, that are not only devastating on a human level but disastrous from an economic standpoint, be reduced? Proper training and law enforcement Should the police be on the lookout for transgressions and doing something to enforce traffic laws? DEFINITELY Should their supposed masters - the politicians - be doing more to ensure the RTP enforce the law? Definitely Do the politicians even care? NO Should schools do more to train students - even the underaged when it comes to riding or driving - in good habits on the roads? Not the schools responsibiility, it's the parents, but as many have posted in other topics, you can't cure laziness or stupidity
  18. they do that all the time here. Walk in our front gate and help themselves to mangos when they are in season or walk down to the back yard, all of which are fenced off and help themselves to whatever might be growing at the time, e,g, lettuce, chilli, pumpkins, sweet potato, bananas. Took me a while to get used to it, but that's what they do.
  19. I'm 72 and mine cost 102k THB after no claim discount and me paying the first 40k was applied.
  20. I'm not going to say you're wrong re the illegal coup, but I believe that every rewritten Thai constitution over the last 80 years or so has had a provision in it that actually makes military coups legal. As I said I'm not saying you're wrong or that I'm right, just expressing what I understand the situation to be.
