  1. you could also look at Satang. They are also quite good. When I signed with them they actually had a larger variety of coins to invest in than Bitkub. Don't know if that still aplies.
  2. bad idea with the prison bars on the windows. Yes they may keep the bad guys out BUT you need to consider that they are also a potential prison/death trap for those inside the house in the event of a fire. We're building at the moment and my wife also wanted the prison bars until I explained the danger and showed her some videos ( Australian fire dept ) showing how people can get trapped inside, especially if upstairs, and die from toxic fumes because they are unable to get out of the house. Also I would strongly suggest the use of autoclave bricks rather than the flimsy, poor quality clay bricks used here.
  3. Forget proof of vaccination certificates, follow what Singapore have done. My son, who lives in Singapore, was telling me the other night that it is mandatory to have an app that has your covid vaccination history. It MUST be scanned everywhere they go ( malls, theatres, restaurants etc ). No vaccination history, no entry. people still have the choice of whether to be vaccinated or not, BUT they do not get the privilege of being able to be out and about with those that have been vaccinated. I'm all for something similar being implemented here.
  4. No. She registered online with Chulabhorn Royal Academy, and based on your location they tell you which hospital you need to attend. We're in Fang District but had to travel to CM to attend Lanna Hospital. We have Thai friends going tomorrow to get their 1st jabs. At Lanna Hospital you pay on the day, not in advance.
  5. My wife ( under age 60 ) received her first Sinopharm jab this week at Lanna Hospital CM. The cost was 777 baht for the Sinopharm PLUS 250 baht for the hospital. She gets her 2nd jab in 3 weeks and will pay the same for that also.
  6. Since when has it been necessary to register with our embassy that we now reside in Thailand? I would have thought that if it was a requirement then that would be Immigration's responsibility.
  7. As someone who caddied on the Ladies European Tour, European Seniors Tour and Australian ladies & men's tours throughout the 90's I agree entirely with what Brian is saying. I will even go as far as to say that when I retired from caddying and started playing golf again I applied the rationale from women's golf to my game, especially as I was never a big hitter, and it made a huge difference to my game and my handicap came down very quickly as a result of that. I do miss the caddying and would love to go back to it, but I'm in my 70's now and these days I can't even walk 9 holes, I have to cart it.
  8. Firstly I already reposted the press release TWICE, so go back and find the original the same way I did. Secondly. the google search I did showed EU countries as being 250k deposit protection, and that was the basis of me stating that. If the google search resulted in wrong data, I'm not to know that especially when that amount is similar to other countries. Thirdly. every one of you that has attacked me on this issue has failed to understand that my summarised comment was predicated on the press release that was posted in TVF and then reposted by myself, when the question was raised about whether it was per account holder or per account. IT WAS NOT ME MAKING A STATEMENT. Fourthly, People need to read and understand an entire post, not just selectively pick 1 part of it and go on the attack. Any person with half an ounce of intelligence would have realised that my summary was based on the press release that I reposted, and I'm not just referring to this particular topic. It occurs far to often in this forum.
  9. They may have been my words BUT they were predicated on the press release that I posted which clearly stated per account. Irrespective of who that press release came from, it clearly shows that already there is confusion in the banking industry as to how it is going to apply. My Thai wife and here sisters made enquiries with their respective bank branch managers and they were also told per account. I repeat DO NOT TELL ME I'M WRONG when my post, and summary is based solely on a press release that clearly stated per account. It was NOT my personal opinion on the topic. That arrogant approach reminds me of an ar**hole aussie who takes the same approach to everything he disagrees with, even when he is wrong and proven to be so.
  10. The person I spoke to at my bank was the branch manager. So as I said, who the hell knows which is correct. My Thai wife and her sisters have also spoken with their respective bank branch managers ( different banks to me ) and they were also told it was per account. So it would appear that the usual individual interpretations of law are looking applicable in this instance from bank to bank & branch to branch. The whole thing is pretty poor actually reducing the cover this way. That means we will have less than the equivalent of US $30k guaranteed cover. The international standard from what I've ascertained seems to be similar amounts: Europe is 250k euro, USA is $250k, Australia $250k. Those amounts equate to between 5 - 6 million baht depending on exchange rates.
  11. definitely not a 22 bullet. It's an air gun pellet.
  12. and what about all those who paid a deposit to Thonburi group. Does this mean that there will be no refunds?
  13. Don't tell me I'm wrong when I did not actually make the statement. I posted what the DPA had said in a press statement. Either way the press statement that I referred to, shown here again. " for your benefit: From an earlier link: "As the DPA will reduce insu-rance protection from Bt50 million per bank account to only Bt1 million from August this year" is contradictory to the information in your link. So it would appear, as usual, those in authority are posting conflicting information. Perhaps THEY should be reported for fake news. BTW, I checked with my bank and they say it's per account NOT per depositor, BUT who the hell knows which is correct. Just more confusion created as usual.
  14. some sites have been. They still appear in the google search but when you try to access the site you get a big warning in red that the site has been blocked by the Thai authorities.
  15. please read the report copied here FYI. " From an earlier link: "As the DPA will reduce insu-rance protection from Bt50 million per bank account to only Bt1 million from August this year, it will also bring fund flows to the GSB, a |state-run bank that provides 100-per-cent protection to customers." NB: the THB 50 million in the quote should be THB 5 million. Not sure about the GSB providing 100% protection. Will check that one out. So it's per account, NOT per depositor. Also bear in mind most banks will only allow you to have 1 of each type of savings account they offer e.g. ttb ( formerly TMB ) will only allow me to hold 1 All Free account and 1 Non fixed account. They won't even allow me to open either of these accounts as a joint account as I already have my name on both types of accounts as does my wife. So accounts with other banks will have to be a consideration.
  16. absolute nonsense. CM Immigration continues, in my experience, to operate the same way as it was mandated to do by Big Joke. I have not experienced this reversion to which you refer.
