  1. classified as weird/unexplainable

The governor should be sincere to get over the issue.

    Well!......

Don't go to CM then If the exact cause of the deaths is not known. How can they reassure travelers they won't get killed while hopping around in CM? .

    Danger List : One Might

    A.encounter food poisoning from seaweed,

    B.contact Chlorpyrifos from a bedbug spray ,

C.pick up legionnaires' disease from an air-con,

D.get electrocuted from an improper-installed shower or

E.swim in a toxic swimming poor.

For those who did not know much what was going on with the hotel, hope this can be a bit of help.

  2. When/where is this press conference being aired?

I haven't seen it on Thai TV yet and been watching since 2pm, have I missed it?

    from the OP

the press conference at 2pm today at the Chiang Mai Public Health Office.

Apologies. I missed that salient point.

    Cheers

but so far nothing has been updated.

I am waiting to hear what the governor will say too.

  3. "media had given contradictory information, such as claiming the hotel owner was Panadda's relative, which was not true."

So who is the owner of the Hotel and why are they Hiding?

FYI , Hope this helps you !!!!

    it's from JFchandler

I believe, it's not the family of CM's governor, but rather, the family of the former mayor of CM, who is the uncle of the current mayor of CM, that are owners of the company that operates the hotel involved and quite a few others...

To think the Thai authorities would close the Downtown Inn, or even part of it, is wishful thinking. They didn't close the Laleena Guesthouse with the various tourist deaths there, never did, which apparently was owned by nobody particularly important... And it's pretty unlikely they'd do that in CM under the circumstances.

I'd imagine avoiding any conclusion that blames the hotel or its operators would be pretty high on the local priority list.

  4. Dont scare the tourists ...and the Thais ..as now this hotel might be haunted full of ghosts ..... I just hope the families of those who died in this hotel will know the truth one day .... not sure ... there are so unresolved "mysteries" in the country .

talk to Howes and Wilson then and introduce 'em to the g0vern0r.

Your mysteries should be solved over a short period of time.

  5. This is scary stuff. I am just staying in a lets say modestly priced guesthouse and I feel sick and have a headache.

Now I google and chlorpyrifos seems to be odorless.

Can't it be enough having to be scared about electric shocks from water heaters that are not installed correctly ...

at your own risk while in LOS.:guitar:

if you smell something's bad, just run.

    Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra

Beautiful, intelligent and elegant Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra may well become the first woman Prime Minister of Thailand if the rumours within the main opposition party in the Kingdom materialized.

If she is anything like her brother I wonder if in the future we'll get to see her in Playboy's tribute to female despots. I'd buy the issue.

i go 4 Penthouse ......... count me in ... dude!!!!!!

i miss her brother's square face. Hum... i really do.

  7. That's what this country gets when they employ 3 Dong-A brand Pentium 4 desktops running "Windows 97 server". No doubt Mr. Somchai IT had his cousin's business provide the server solution...

...oh yes.... submarines and nuclear power plants. Good point. Most of these politicians can hardly run a somtam stand without corruption...

great witty skill , haha.... that Somtam thing + Sub and nuclear power plants = servers' crash my new maths formula

how did he come up with this cracking joke?

    very amused!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. How <deleted> hard is it to replace a server?

I swear, the Thais must have contracted out their IT to my employer. My company has had a massive problem for the past 3 months with its servers. Maybe they need to enforce a rule of no halo or warcraft games during work hours.

I'm sure they're not playing games on them. Can't think of any that are compatable with Windows 3.11.

WIN 3.1  nice one

They couldnt figure how to load WIN 7......or maybe they lost their pirated WIN 7copies in a police raid

nope .... they would likely be Unix servers to handle such heap of info. sitting on the servers and flowing in/out.

And mostly working with command lines. need a great skilled dude to rescue the servers........

  9. It is not a question of "27 baht per hour"

The government has set the minimum wage for the country,

KFC has a policy of paying minimum wage (globally)

If KFC makes an exception here it would be held accountable to it's board and end up raising wages above minimum globally.

The issue should not be with KFC it should be with the minimum wage law here in Thailand, but they will not raise it because it would strengthen the baht and exports would decline.

Price is set and wages are set. Would it be fair to pay 10 baht for a burger here and $2 for burger elsewhere? They are public everything is done on global averages. In order to be everywhere people want you to be you may have to take less profit in some areas and more in others to balance.

do you own a KFC shack somewhere?

    I doubt.

    my conclusion!!!!!!!

Please next time try to concentrate on one thing and write the summary ideas at the last sentence.
