Some of the expats in Thailand love to imitate the locals and love their drink. A lot of those on the forum. Just look at the howls of displeasure when alcohol is banned for a day.

If guilty send him to jail and then ban him from entering Thailand. 2 people died and if he was drunk its an unforgiveable act.

Foreigners have been named in the Covid outbreak, and we know they are myamese, I think this might be the case here, wait and see.

So in other words he wants to go back to the way things were before they (TAT and the gov't) decided they preferred Indian and Chinese tourists ?

You know, the time when places like Walking Street were thriving and the money was flowing. So much so that many major projects were funded in anticipation that the money would continue to flow like rivers.
That is, until TAT decided that they didn't want "white" tourists anymore and decided that hordes of lower spending Indians and Chinese would be better.

Now maybe they are realizing that all those high spending "white" tourists weren't so bad after all ?

I would think that he's thinking about the new high class spa's that the Chinese will build in walking St.

News from someone who went to Koh Phangan police station today to help arrested friends to pay their bail:

"Everyone's going to need to pay fines (Bail is 10,000 and fine will be delivered in Samui tomorrow for 5000) and produce their Passports."

Captain Fishmonger will be pleased, Amazingly, Thais were able to get away and foreigners got caught. Now the big fishing rod will be waved at filthy falangs.

I wonder which mafiosi family owned the bar and what they will be fined, sorry paid.

    A reasonable approach.

Although vaccinated people may still present a risk of transmission. Those who have been vaccinated and taken a pre-flight Covid-19 test have a minimal chance of carrying the virus in to Thailand.

Other countries have a smaller ‘quarantine requirements’ i.e. a Covid-19 RT PCR test on arrival and quarantine for a day while awaiting test results. Not idea, but much better than what currently exists.

The issue with any of the plans is that there is no water-tight solution and any easing brings additional risk of the spread of Covid-19.

Confirmed vaccination along with pre-flight and arrival Covid-19 tests (and track and trace) should handle the vast majority of risk while allowing opening Thailands tourist sector back up.

It is critical that Thailands tourism sector be allowed off its knees and take steps towards getting back on its feet - the potential devastation to millions without a robust social welfare safety net is essential not only to those individuals but the fabric of the nation.

The problem here is, no vaccine manufacturer knows if vaccinated people will be able to pass on covid.

And even if you have a vaccine certificate [I can't see special passports for Covid-19] maybe just a certification.

Then if they still don't know if the vaccinated are going to be contagious,or able to be reinfected, then most countries will require quarantine on re entry.

There is a long way to go yet with the C19 vaccine

    Nothing new here.

These high figures essentially show a high level of infection among the foreign workers of Samut Sakhon as well as some Thais who rub shoulders with them.

As we already knew, the province is locked.

Let us wish these rather young people a good recovery, and for the country to succeed in containing the epidemic in this area.

Wishful thinking, the province is locked, Is Tachilek locked, are all the building sites locked? The Labour trade in Thailand has been sick for some time, why Thais cannot build is another no brainer.

Quite likely a class problem as well as a greed problem.

Young Thai men don't want to be seen as Gamagons, common farm labour.

Lots of young men liked to be mangdas and live off their girlfriends.

Now that's over, drug dealing and theft will get worse.

Something very fishy, smells and stinks, and not one corrupt official or wealthy Fishhead apprehended.

Fish all over the face of the enlightened one.

It may be just a matter of time before the other big boys in this Los, suddenly awaken, like Rip Van Winkle, and realise that they are going to be ruined by their own government gangsters

So how do you know about them?

For this outbreak we can surely thank the Elite who needed to save around 200 baht a day per Burmese labourer over Thai labourer that they are supposed to 'Love' ( Thai rak Thai ) .

They used corrupt officials  to get the infected Burmese  on-site  without the pesky expense of paying for their  Quarantine , and continue to use corruption to  avoid any repercussions , and the Thai Government say and do  nothing about it all.

Every Thai taxpayer and business in Thailand  is now paying for their greed and it is  they that  should be bankrupted  by being made to pay for treatments.

Exactly what I have been saying, and posting, well spoken.

You are absolutely correct.  The insurance is a scam, as I mentioned when it first came out (and most others).  It's a cash grab by the government.

Thailand used to be a place to get great cheap food, reasonable accommodation and enjoy the pleasant weather.  I can't see it returning either.  They've gone from second world to first world and it is, in so many ways, a third world country.

UR correct, the insurance is a cash grab by Thai companies and includes the wealthiest family in Thailand, whom I suspect pulls the strings of the glorious one.

A simple entry charge of 1000 Baht or more would solve this, managed properly.

With the new covid variant, letting tourists in now under reduced quarantine ect would possibly devastate the already devastated.

However ripping people off seems to be the world wide new norm, just airfares alone are horrendous.

Travelling the globe, well I guess we've got to wait this out and hope the thugs die of lead poisoning from shooting themselves in the foot.

Well. allow tourists to come in following a proper PCR test, and if some have got the vaccine go easy on them and not this draconian 14 days incarceration costing lot of money, show flexibility and willingness to accommodate the above mentioned and oh yeah, stop silly tax on non existing tourist and things will get better...

Just to keep you informed, a new community case has been discovered in New Zealand yesterday, 10 days after being released from managed quarantine and testing negative twice, before release. They don't know if this is late incubation or an infection caught during Quarantine.

They suspect it is the highly infectious newer strain.

The person has visited over 30 locations in the past 10 days.

The country is now on high alert, the person involved has been vigilant using contact tracing applications.

The country is now braced for another outbreak which could be from the new variant.

So I believe that border controls should be tightening not slacking off and the same for quarantine.

New Zealand is now on a wake up call that complacency could plunge the country into a severe outbreak.

Slacking the rules for tourists in Thailand is not going to help, sad to say.

The government should be planning ways to help these people out.

Instead money is not going to this cause and it should be.

We all want things to be normal, but until this virus fades out, we'll have to wait.

Thailand can not afford to slacken further and risk more devastation.

But they should be helping out the people with financial aid.

After all they have plenty for submarines and moon missions and high speed Railway.

Only 18 cases in all other provinces besides Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, and Trat...so deminimus. I'm sure the info is available at the CCSA website if your curious.

From the stats it seems Myanmar workers are spreading the disease around, 5 of the bankok cases are Myanmese and the majority from Myanmar.

No surprise here as it was Captain Simbad the wealthy fish magnate that used government employees. A smuggler that used forces controlled by the great leader to smuggle in slaves so that they could make more money.

The most shameful thing ever and more shameful is that our great leader has done nothing to punish slave Labour exploitation and no mention of punishment for the economic harm and misery they have inflicted upon genuine Thais, the country and tourism.

A shameful shambles ignored by the one who is being told which tune to dance to.

i also saw there where members here on this forum that laughed at this news in the line up. Shame on you!

Probably the laugh about this story is eyes can not be transplanted.

There is no technology to do this.

So a sad story which tells us that the pandemic / lack of tourism is crippling Thailand, especially the poor.

I can say that the stress level here in Hua Hin is starting to show in the locals. Street venders are now competing with out of work hotel staff and others selling food for a few baht. I had someone ask me if I know how to make a sandwich and if I would show them so they can sell on the streets.

I have long time friends (not that type of long time) asking if I will give them 100 baht for food for their babies.

A Thai lady friend who owned a bar and was smart enough to sell right at the beginning of covid is sitting all day on the street selling pork sticks.

My friends look tired and distracted and I think it is sinking in that here is another year to go.

The suicide rate is not caused by covid itself.

The depression and poverty is caused by the lack of tourists who feed street vendors, guest houses, taxis ect. This is the after effect from covid

New Zealand seems almost normal at present, there has been financial bail outs to businesses.

    These are not needed now.

Thailand can't afford this but they should be looking at ways to support small businesses and those who are struggling to pay mortgages ect.

Instead their solution is to build a cassino, import Myanmar workers, sorry, smuggle in slaves and risk the whole economy and lives of Thailand and it's people for the wealthy fish mongers.

Great news we may approve casinos, then we can totally break down Thai society and import vaccinated gamblers from China to make up for our losses from the pandemic.

23 deaths is hardly a large statistic when 23 million doses have been given worldwide so far

    Literally one in a million.

    13 deaths was latest news.

On RT just now, Moderna vaccine has been suspended after a whole group of people has had adverse reactions to their vaccine in the USA.

Another Pfizer patient was shown with uncontrollable leg shakes. Since then her son who posted video on Facebook has had over a 1000 replies of people who have suffered the same.

Vaccine spokesmen have said that only 10/12 people per million suffer from side effects.

It seems the Russian vaccine may become a better choice, only time will tell, but it does not look good for the Moderna vaccine at present.

Also reported 1 in 8 people are dying of complications within 5 months of being discharged from hospital and 1 in 3 people are developing serious illness after having the virus.

There is a very interesting article in that other English language newspaper in Thailand today.

It describes that legalizing gambling is not as easy as it sounds. Because then it has to be properly regulated and some people should not be allowed to gamble.

It's obviously also related to the corrupt police. But that is not the only problem.

One big problem is Thais can become extremely addicted to gambling, casinos opened in New Zealand are 90 percent full of Asian players. Chinese are notorious gamblers. To me the MP proposing this looks very Chinese.

Thais have enough to worry about without Chinese conglomerates building cash cows to subsidise their C19 losses.

Is this their solution to the tourism C19 loss of income.

Destroy Thai families totally, create more jobs for Chinese money lenders, increase muggings and theft, corruption and mafiosi.

There is enough of a problem with illegal casinos and mafia money lenders now, my family has had problems and nearly all of the families I know have had problems with gambling as it stands now.

One friends brother stole the title of their property from his dying mother's death bed and sold half of their land through a crooked lawyer, then beat his sister up when she found out and complained.

All of this to settle a gambling debt with money mafiosi lenders.

God help the Thai people if this crazy selfish money grabbing extortion mob get their way.

This is insanity and misery for Thai people.

Unfortunately we have low-end falang walking along Pattaya Beach road between 5 pm to 7 pm shirtless, no masks, no social distancing at a time when the beach is most crowded. No cooperation and completely oblivious to their surroundings. The same type of people who intentionally remove or adjust their masks as  soon as theey pass shopping mall security. This behaviour only infuriates Thais and adds fire to the tightening of immigration laws.

Will they tighten Sir Fish Heads access to Myamer slaves smuggled across the border by the enlightened ones staff.

Next time make sure they wear masks whilst being smuggled ,and put them into quarantine at the fish factory where they can work as well as be under quarantine.

If they need face masks during quarantine and covid tests add this onto the debt they have to pay to Sir Fish Head.

As for the costs that Fish Head has put upon Thailand ignore this.

Also grant exemption for health and covid insurance as if they get sick dump them back across the border and bring in  fresh produce.

  15. That's why Germany will be plagued by the virus, as people test positive on day 12 of quarantine, that's why the virus is running rampant over Europe.

Ten day quarantine has been turned down by Thailand, New Zealand and Australia as it is not safe.

And you certainly would not be allowed to travel to a Hotel that is not govt approved, self isolation is used only on contacts of suspected cases in the community.

Sweden thought they were smart and did not lock down, Europe and the USA are now a Covid mess.

Not to mention other countries where people have run riot.

I guess India and others almost impossible to control.

The world has gone mad, sit back and watch Pfizer, Bill Gates, Dr Fauci get extremely more wealthy, along with the other companies involved in the vaccine roll out.

Thailand has not done to bad but don't expect to be travelling around the world for at least 12 months now while the medical maniacs now ruling governments stick vaccines in your arm, and install compulsory tracking applications upon you.

Good, but i am more interested in the government official in from my town that went to bangkokto visit his parents, contracted covid came back and gave it too his wife (teacher at my youngest daughters school) daughter (in nursery at same school) and his other daughter (in same high school as my eldest daughter).

Also he lied to hospital staff when went there to get his perscription for his diabetes meds even though he was symptomatic. Him and his family got sent to quarantine in korat. Not a single child has been tested they were all just sent home and told to self isolate for 14 days, but dont worry the teachers have all been tested and are all negative

He must have drank whyskey with friends also, maybe the whyskey tricks the virus to not spread.

It's a common refrain. and there are those who have sung it in respect of the illegal drugs industry in many countries. The problem is that once one source of revenue is closed, the mafiosi manufacture another, and so the cycle is perpetuated.

And we all know who the mafiosi are in Thailand.

The mafiosi will run casino's anyway legal or not.

What you will see is more debt, crime and poverty.

Thai prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has urged the health authorities to conduct a fast Covid-19 vaccine rollout.

Yet health minister Anutin Charnvirakul admitted one of the vaccines won't arrive in Thailand until JUNE.

There was also no mention of the word "foreigners" in the Daily News report - just Thai people.

Why would these dirty foreigners need anything that was created by other foreigners?

Can't you smell the smell? BTW, I do not even want their vaccine.

He did mention that over 60,s would have priority, then the over 60s should be very weary as 13 old people have died after being given the Pfizer vaccine so far.

However, officials are down playing the deaths, and blaming it on the elderly for having health issues before they were vaccinated.

Sorry thing is, they never tested the vaccine on the elderly.
