  1. If you speak to a neighbor, you can ask for a chinote number for it, or for the very specific area near there. The land office should be able to tell you who owns it if you can get a really close chinote number.

    best of luck

  2. givenall, give em some more

It is simply none of the US business to poke their noses here. And, I do not want my brother's and father's taxes paying for one bit of US meddling. And, Obama should not be using his or other US official's time researching the current situation here. If the Ambassador receives some info and emails on to the US which then files it, fine, but not a lot more. No matter who runs the place, and the PM has changed here a lot in the past 20 years, the army will still continue to receive ample support from the US army for no other reason than it has for the past 40+ years.

... and I like your avatar..... Am I allowed to post an Isaan joke which is related to your avatar? It is really quite cute.

  3. Who is going to reimburse Siam Paragon for one month of lost revenue?

I bet Siam Paragon is receivig rents regardless of whether or not the doors are open.

The smaller stores in the Siam are ones who are hurting, as they still have to pay the rent plus have no sales.

AsiaBooks or any other store will not sell any product, but must still pay however much rent to Siam, plus pay their employees, who may have been sent to another store.

I wonder what happened to all of the food in the markets, and I do not mean the cans. Fresh meat and produce, dairy?

  4. My maid just showed up with 20 of these English pennies all between 1900 and 1920

Her friend's husband died, and her friend gave them to her.

As there is not much of a market for these coins in Pattaya, or Thailand for that matter, I thought I would give them to an English friend and have him take them back to England and sell them for her.

What is the best way to clean them and where would I find the cleaning solution?

I have looked for prices / values on eBay, and they are not worth a lot, but it is a free bonus to my maid, so I want to do my best for her.

    Thanks for the assistance

  5. Your employees are more than willing to show up to work - or another location - while CW is closed.

You should not penalize them just because your landlord - CW - decided to shut their doors on you. This is your business and this is your problem, not your employees' problem. If you have a problem with this situation, talk to your landlord.

How you prove that they are more then willing to show up to work.

Might be that are even willing so much that they stay in front of their workplace all day................................with a red shirt on.

Or they may be on the other side with a yellow shirt on, or they are sitting at home with no shirt on. This is not known.

The above (cocerning their wearing red shirts) is a possibility, but as they always did show up to work prior to the doors being shut, there is no reason to believe that they would not continue to show up if the doors were opened. There are millions of workers in Bkk who are red at least a little, at heart who go to work everyday. Your employees may be the very same type of people.

We have not been giving any information concerning their not going to work on other protest days prior to Central World closing its doors.

Now, if you see some of them on TV, then I think that you would have a strong case against paying him/her and your other employees would more than likely agree with you.

  6. ....this is meant to be silly, so take it as such.

Your employees work for your shop

    Central World is shut.

    You rent from Central World.

    This is your choice.

Your shop is closed. You chose to rent from a shopping center which shuts its doors when difficulties arise.

Your landlord will not allow your staff to enter the building.

    You chose the location.

Central World wants to be high profile and thus get a premium for its rents.

This is not your employees' fault, but it is your decision to rent from a location which has a higher chance of being protested in front of.

There are tens of thousands of shops all over Bangkok which are open, because of the locations that those owners chose. Low profile locations.

Yes, this is ludicrous. It is meant to be, and those other shops are open. As a mental institution patient I know says, "There is a little truth in every lie".

Hopefully business has been good enough that you are able to pay your staff.

And as a few other posters have stated, they will appreciate it when they are paid, but forget about it very shortly thereafter.

Best of luck for you, your business and your staff

  7. Boring is not boring.

I bored out a 12 year old HOnda 100 Dream to 125 and it was a great improvement.

I bored out and old 90cc two storke to 125 and it was a lot more fun.

I just bored out my 125 Wave to 150 and it is a lot better (I also have a larger carb)

My friend just bored out his 125 Wave to 150 and is as happy as can be.

Sounds like you've had some fun tickering with bikes :)

Do you know if your mate had any problems boring the 125 to a 150cc?

    NO PROBLEMS

I HAVE SINCE BORED OUT TO 150 FROM 125 MY Wave-i

Change the exhaust to the 125X model.

It is a nice difference once you have the throttle tured a bit.

Your mate says he's happy but do you know what it cost (ballpark)?

    125 - 150 = 1500 baht

    exhaust is 1800 baht

Does it heat up too much?

    NEVER ANY HEATING PROBLEMS.

If you live in Pattaya, PM me and I can show you where it was done. It is a standard 125 - 150 kit.

  8. The Market on Soi Buakhow on on Tuesday and Friday, and to a much lesser extent on the other days as well.

The open-air market is on Soi Buakhow only 40 meters from 2nd road.

There is a weekend market on Theprasert Road, approximately 150 meters from Sukhumvit Road

  9. I agree with NOT WORTHLESS in 10 years or 20 or whenever, but 10,000 / month for a 1,000,000 bht condo is high rent, very high rent, and unlikely to be realized month after month without breaks, and does not include agents fees, repairs, maintenance, etc.

The problem with owning, the major problem is trying to sell. Buying property in Thailand is a little like buyng a new car in the West. If you want to resell it immediately, you will take a serious hit, and spend a lot of time trying to do it.

If you wait, you will get the value of your investment back in usage.

    best of luck to you.

  10. No, unfortunately it doesn't stop at night. The closer we get to the big days (18th, 19th), the more night time water throwing you'll see. The people who throw water after hours are the sadistic ones who get a kick out of upsetting people (plenty of them in Pattaya). They don't get any fun out of throwing water on already soaked people during the day, so they pick on people at night who really want to stay dry and they prefer to use ice water if it is available. This is their big chance to pick on people without repercussions.

Well said, it's like a license to be a jerk.

I could not have said it better myself for what happened last night.

It is night time, the heat is over, people are now going out for the evening, and idiots abound, who intentionally want to screw up your attire and anything you are carrying.

I thought the rules were sundown ending and no use of the PC guns

  11. Savanakhet used to always give me double entry visas when I went there a couple of years ago. They would request a bank book or two, so that they knew I had enough money to stay for a while, but that was it.

They were very easy, and I did pay for the visas. I am sure this was all before the free visa anouncements came out.

I handed in my passort to the Thai embassy in PP on the 5th of this month and paid &70 for a double entry.

  12. You will pay a minimum of 3% agent fee and another ABSOLUTE MINIMUM of 1.5% / month

Usually the rate will be closer to 2.5% to 3% / month

You will either (Kai Fark - sell with the right to buy back at a certain price within a certain time frame) the property or

YOu can do the same with your share with a foreigner, as Thais will always want to go to the land office route, which is the normal way it is done here.

For your shares in the company, your shares and directorship of the company will be handed over to the lender with an agreement that you will then buy your shares and change directorship back in one year. Register this at the commercial office.

It is really better to go the land office route.

You can also simply make a mortgage through a Thai or foreign lender and register it at the land office. At the land office, registering a mortgage is very inexpensive, maybe 10,000 for the one million loan.

The same 3% for an agent fee and 1.5% MINIMUM to 3% / month interest is the going rate

If you are in Pattaya, I can help you find a lender very easily.

    PM me for more information

  13. I will get the visa tomorrow and see how many days before it expires. It has always been 90 days in the past, at least my past. I suspect t will be 90 days from the date that the visa is granted, which usually happens on the day the passport is turned in.

The cost was $70 on the board. I did not ask about other currencies.

With a low dollar, it is nice to be able to use here and get full value without having to convert them into something else and take a low exchange rate.

No request for bank accouts or flights back to or out of Thailand.

A photo and a completed application is all that is required.

  14. I have been coming here for three of four trips now, maybe even five, every three months, as I was receiving single entry before.... Maybe I did get a double entry in the first place a while ago.

I have always received--without questions or requests for additional information, the single entry. And again on this trip for the double, a smile and "Thank you".

Although a free visa would have been nice as well :-)
