Divorse or not.
OneMoreFarang replied to rutteketuut's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
That reminds me of when the elder sister of my gf died. It seems she had borrowed some money from a local loan shark. It was recommended to me to better pay... Would it be enforceable in a court of law? I guess not. But ... -

Are you sure you would want to argue about that in Thai court? -

And because she doesn't want to that's it? Do you want to do for the rest of your life what she wants? Do you need to face serious trouble before you make your own decisions? Grow a pair. Do it! -
The doctor's fee is normally low. Some medication is cheap - and some is not effective. Some medicine is "expensive" and you won't get it for free. Some doctors recommend buying better medicine. That obviously doesn't mean that all medicine must be expensive, and it also doesn't mean that expensive medicine = good medicine. But sometimes it makes sense to pay extra.

I have to admit I am stunned by this and similar posts. If you would not be married, would you ever have thought about moving to Korat? From Phuket? I find it very hard to imagine such a move. So let's assume without the wife you would never move to Korat. Are you sure you want to change your whole life, possible for decades, according to what your wife wants? Maybe she is the greatest wife of all times, and you do everything for her. But I wonder how long it will take before the resentment takes over. I am only in this place because of you... Somehow I see difficulties in the future. But maybe that is only me.

Did anybody (except small children) who walked on that ship think this is safe and a good way to travel? Did they all think that they can bring themselves in danger and then others will rescue them? Did they expect to be rescued? Why? It's like playing Russian roulette and expecting that all will be fine. What a stupid idea! Lots of people all over the world live in conditions which they don't like. And many try to make the best out of their situation. Only few risk everything. Why should the rest of the world reward those people who take idiotic risks?

Insurance companies checking your medical records

It's a long time ago. But I don't think so. It was one of those "do you drink? do you smoke?" questions which every doctor seems to ask routinely. I never had a liver problem or anything else that is typically related to alcohol. Since I discovered that entry in my hospital records, I am very careful with volunteering information which can be misinterpreted. -
Are you actually hungry ? Habit or need ?
OneMoreFarang replied to The Cobra's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I only eat when I am hungry. Most of the time that means a big breakfast and then maybe something in the afternoon - whenever I am hungry. That works fine when my gf is up country. But when she is with me: Morning: I am hungry. Lunch: I am hungry. Evening: I am hungry. Worst case is when I am somewhere in a meeting with Thais and the meeting isn't over yet at 12:03. Big problem! Everybody is starving. -
Nong Yai Woman Wins Miss Universe Thailand Chonburi

Does she have a great character or a rich father or what was the reason she won? Looking at her it is obvious what wasn't the reason. -
In the village of my gf is no 7/11. There is also no gasoline station. And there is certainly no fast or slow electric charging point. With an ordinary car that is no problem. Just stop at the gasoline station anywhere on the way to or from the village for a few minutes. What would be the way to handle that with an electric vehicle? Charge that vehicle somewhere 30km away from the village over night and travel with a bike between the village and the car charger? Or what?

Just in general I suggest you get one contractor who is responsible for everything. I.e. if the floor is not flat and then the furniture doesn't fit and maybe the fresh painted walls are dirty again because the guy who installed the furniture didn't care, then it's so much better to have one person to go to and tell him: make it right. The alternative is arguing with several people and likely everybody will blame the others. Good luck!

Celebrity son of Thailand’s ‘Mr Clean’ engulfed in crypto scandal
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I remember reading an interview with a rich guy. He was asked why he (the rich guy) lived a humble life and why his son drove a Ferrari. The father said: "I didn't have a rich father". I think that is a nice summary. Don't think that because a famous father has a certain character that the son must be similar. -

Why don't you get divorced? That should guarantee that you don't end up with any problems, including debts, in the future.- 40 replies

That convinced me - or maybe not... It always possible to arrange things here and there. But it's much nicer to have the convenience to just fill up the tank in minutes almost anywhere almost anytime whenever needed. For all the decades which I had cars and motorcycles I never planned breaks in any trips. I filled up the tank when it was low. And I had something to eat and drink when I wanted to. I hate making advanced plans when spontaneous actions are just fine.

Insurance companies checking your medical records
OneMoreFarang replied to omnipresent's topic in Health and Medicine
A long time ago I did a checkup in a well-known private hospital in Bangkok. After lot of tests, I spoke with a doctor. He also asked me how much alcohol I drink. I answered truthfully that I drink seldom. But sometimes I go out and drink >10 whisky on that night. Years later I asked for my records from that hospital. And what did I read: He drinks more than 10 glasses of whisky a night. Yeah, thanks for that! -
That reminds me of Jack, a Dutch bar manager from Soi Cowboy from a long time ago. He complained that all the girls complained "it's so big, it hurts". Maybe sometimes it is good to be just normal to make sure there are no compatibility issues. ????

Insurance companies checking your medical records

I know an employer who tells their employees that the insurance will cover everything. But in the insurance contract, which the employee doesn't need to sign or acknowledge, is written that the insurance does not have to pay for preexisting conditions. So in that case it seems the employer promised more than the insurance. It is incorrect from the employer to make incorrect promises. I have no idea if that could be reason enough to demand the money from the employer - who made the incorrect promise.
